Next in my series of dull newbie questions. . . . . .

Dock killing - do you have to actually get killed for this offence to be complete or just attacked solidly until the dock is complete. I ask because I was asked for some tax right next to a base whilst in a transport and decided I'd prefer to just dock instead of paying. As soon as the tax-men realised this they opened up on me, removed my shields and dented my hull before the dock was complete. Is that OK or should they stop firing as soon as the docking manoeuvre begins?

Thanks!

That rule only applies when UNDOCKING. you can fire at a docking ship, although pirating you right next to a base hostile to them IS a bit of a oorp dick move.

If I try to pirate someone near a base, I know really that they are going to dock.

But as soon as they move towards it, I open up on them. Its Rp, you wouldnt just watch your target flee would you ? I do keep firing up till they disappear.

But I know that they will escape. :$
