A new terrorist threat. - Stoat - 01-14-2008
This is Richard Hargreaves reporting from Planet Houston, exclusively for the Colony News Service. Some further worrying examples of the lack of information being passed on to the citizens of Liberty have come to my attention.
Following closely on from my exclusive report on the presence of a possible Corsair/Order threat, the subject of which was apparently ignored (by SA command) or sidestepped (by LSF command), and the subsequent attack on New York, by a mixed Order and Corsair force, only a few days later, it now appears that there is also an increased threat of terrorist attack within the Texas system at the very least, if not across the whole of Liberty.
Given the abject failure of the SA and LSF to adequately advise the citizens of Liberty about the threat to their persons in recent weeks, I feel it imperative to bring this breaking news to everyones attention.
The name of this threat? PSI-Borg.
It is rumoured that PSI-Borg may be a cybernetically enhanced human, or perhaps even some form of semi-autonomous AI.
Whichever it is, the method of attack appears to be reminiscent of the psychotic mass-murderer MonStar. Whether MonStar is directly involved, or whether these are just the copycat acts of yet another deranged madman, remains to be ascertained.
The modus operandi appears to be a broad band transmission, informing anyone within the system of the terrorists presence, followed by a series of random attacks on any persons unfortunate enough to be caught in the area. Not exactly an original strategy, but effective none the less.
Of course, the outrages enacted by MonStar are now a well known threat within Liberty. But the appearance of new perpetrators of mass-murder and terror is troublesome in the extreme. What is more worrying, though, is the continuing reluctance of the SA and LSF to be forthcoming with updates on any clear and present danger to the people they are supposed to be protecting.
Whilst the Southern Alliance may be forgiven for occasionally being more reactive than proactive - in all honesty the military have never scored highly in the intelligence gathering stakes - this cannot be an excuse for the LSF. It is understandable that LSF command is reluctant to expose undercover agents by divulging sensitive information, but when this reluctance causes a direct threaten to the civilian population, we must demand that something be done to break down the walls of secrecy that they so conveniently hide behind.
