Freelancer in 3D - onca - 02-27-2011 Hi folks, now don't get excited, this isn't FL with VR glasses or something plugged into the back of your head. It's just me experimenting with taking screenies and combining into some stereoscopic pics. WTF?? Stereoscopic views give you two pictures of a scene, one for each eye. When viewed properly the images merge in your brain to give you a true 3D view of the thing. It really works! See my attempts below... these are so-called "cross-eyed" views. To see them properly, make your eyes go cross-eyed until the two images merge into one. It takes a bit of practice. It might help sitting back from your monitor a bit, and maybe tilting your head slightly each way to help the images merge. It might also help resizing your browser down so only one of the 5 pics is visible at once. See here for more info. Some scenes turn out better than others... enjoy;) Freelancer in 3D - Zukeenee - 02-27-2011 This hurts my eyes. I'm having trouble seeing anything similar to 3D from these images. Everything goes blurry when I cross my eyes. But I'm probably just not doing it right. Neat idea, though. I mean, I suppose it could be applied to any real-life thing, too, and not just FL. Freelancer in 3D - Loken - 02-27-2011 Awesome, works flawlessly. I'll have to have a go at making some myself. Freelancer in 3D - Irra - 02-27-2011 Vision just gets blurry, can't get eyes crossed, vision get more blurry. I should stick to normal view. Freelancer in 3D - Disco - 02-27-2011 Wow, that's amazing! Freelancer in 3D - Zelot - 02-27-2011 Thanks Onca, havent seen you in months, and you show up just to give me a headache.:( Freelancer in 3D - Cosmos - 02-27-2011 cockpit view> headache. np Freelancer in 3D - r3vange - 02-27-2011 Uhmm simple question...Why on Earth would you want to see a 3D screeny when you can just go in game and have see whatever in 3D even inside the station... Freelancer in 3D - Loken - 02-27-2011 You fail to understand the concept. It's not "real" 3D in game. Freelancer in 3D - onca - 02-27-2011 Quote:This hurts my eyes. Quote:Thanks Onca, havent seen you in months, and you show up just to give me a headache.:( Take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning;) Yeah my bad... if you're not used to this thing then probably Freelancer screenies ain't the best choice, what with the low contrast and all. The hardest part is letting your eyes relax and focus while they're in a funny position, which goes against years of your visual cortex doing otherwise. FYI 3D is as old as photography itself... in fact so-called stereograms were hugely popular around the early 20 century. But it fell out, probably coz its best viewed with special equipment, and no one could be bothered with that. I reckon 3D photography will make a comeback with things like new Nintendo, which can display 3D images without any glasses or equipment. Anyhow if you're interested, have a look at the link I gave above. If not, ah well there's better things to spend your time I s'pose =) o. |
