Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - sadtranslation - 03-09-2011 For some random reason, I felt in love with that ship many days ago - maybe when BH~ was flying around, maybe when I met EDGE on different occasions (and got shot <3) - and I finally got it. But now the question is how to set the thing up. Can you help with telling what should put in which on 6 slots and how to set weapon groups for it - and for which targets will such approach be better? Thanks. Edit: To save forum space, I'll use this thread for some more help. Once again I need an advice - this time it's setting up a Tresher or even a couple of them to work together. Thank you. Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - Jongleur - 03-09-2011 I use 2 razors, 1 pulse, and 1 missile (to keep bombers busy) forward with 2 BHG turrets back. Good overall setup for me. I've seen people down a cap 8 tridente, or fight off several smaller ships in their bottlenose like that. but, if you prefer sniping, mounting 3 razors 1 pulse 2 basic turrets (or 2 razor 1 pulse 1 missile and 2 basic turrets on the back) would be a good idea too. One trick I like to use is to put four regular turrets forward, and then 2 razors backward. That works for me, since I tend to suck at PvP and the fighters and bombers get on my rear. Then I chain fire the razors and the bomber is wondering what happened to his ship... Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - sadtranslation - 03-09-2011 I suppose that in Houses and Independent Words the most of targets will be flying fighters, bombers and gunboats. In fact, the only gunboat I used to fly for the last half a year was Claymore which isn't good with basics, so I'm really not confident with using them at all. Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - Dashiell - 03-09-2011 if you re good at sniping: 3 razors forward, 1 pulse forward. 2 pulses backward as well. if you re not good at sniping, you have to backfire with 6 basics as a bottlenose can't even properly down a bomber's shield with 4 turrets forward Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - DodgeOld24 - 03-09-2011 3 pulses and 3 razors. 2 razors with 360 degree turning, 2 pulses with 360 and 1 razor + 1 pulse for rear only. rear view is your bestas amigos ~Personal opinion Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - Shardphoenix - 03-10-2011 http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77398 Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - sadtranslation - 03-10-2011 Oh, thanks. I really missed this thread while using search, but that's not a waster of forum space anyway. And, by the way, what is the best way to set weapon groups up for this one? Bottlenose (Tresher) and setting it up. - Sand_Spider - 03-10-2011 Personally I run with 5 BHG turrets with a rear-mounted basic missile. The ship itself feels to fly more like a bomber than a gunboat, so I fly it light a bomber when fighting fighters. When facing enemy gunboats, I stay at maximum range and rear fire with the 5 BHG turrets. Horizontal strafing allows a person to dodge most of not all enemy fire. Rear-firing is also effective when you find yourself alone against multiple fighter/bomber enemies. Both rear-fire strategies make use of thrusters. I've actually tried the tri-pulse/razor combo before, and have found, personally, that it just does not work for me. While it certainly is effective in one-shotting fighters and bombers, as well as being effective for hit and run tactics against capital ships, I found it lacking in group fights where I was the primary focus of enemy fire. Since I could only shoot once every now and then, my enemies would constantly fire upon me, thus I was shot down in no time flat. With full BHG turrets however, I was able to scatter even a large group of fighters/bombers, thus being left with minimal hull damage post-battle. In a nutshell: BHG turrets + 1 basic missile = effective against fighters, doable against gunboats. Pulses/Razors = Effective against 2, maybe 3 fighters. Requires practice. Also effective for hit and run tactics against other gunboats, potential to solo cruisers. Personal skill and opinion of course. |
