Quote:PSD is Adobe Photoshop's native file format, and it is therefore comparable to XCF in complexity. GIMP's ability to handle PSD files is sophisticated but limited: some features of PSD files are not loaded, and only older versions of PSD are supported. Unfortunately, Adobe has now made the Photoshop Software Development Kit — which includes their file format specifications — proprietary, and only available to a limited set of developers approved by Adobe. This does not include the GIMP development team, and the lack of information makes it very difficult to maintain up-to-date support for PSD files.

Edit: ._.

GIMP can be almost powerfull as photoshop IF you know how to use it, and as mentioned GIMP is free while PS isn't.

Yes, it can open PSDs, but you already know that:D

lol Dart, you're still using my siggeh :ylove:

Well, all my siggys, logos and trans-bars are made in gimp...
and somehow when I need to do something with picture I do it in Gimp, it's easier for me, the same work in Gimp I do in 15 minutes wich i need over a hour in PS....

However, it's all a matter of habit...

GIMP doesn't support full functions of Photoshop files while it can probably open them.

Photoshop is for pros, GIMP is for the poor.
