The Inner Project

Description

With war raging on all four houses and with increased embargo laws many companies are forced to let many of their employee go in order to save what little profit they get. In this hard times most of the transport captains have no choice but to go on their own and into smuggling work, but with risk getting only higher as military and police force get more suspicions of any transport that isn't from the known companies, and they rather shot first and ask later policy makes many smugglers rather sit on docks than move something illegal.

So a band of smuggler came together and thought to create a new shipping company in order to hide their smuggling operation, in doing so they can move without the fear of been suspected of any wrong doing. The inner project they called them self, they thought to create a new under ground network of handling shipping from all corners of the galaxy, making contacts with pirate house and pirate organisation in order to ship for them and donate small of their profit to them in exchange for their safety.

//So, "TiP" is going to be a combination of pirates/ex traders even freelancers gone smugglers, its about establishing a network of smuggling ring/curruption/ and information handling (Buying/selling) as well,

ultimately the goal is to manipulate the market to gain advantage, by inflaming conflicts to create new market where there was none, this way we gain more profite and power.

Sara Croft was one of the best transport captains in one of the leading liberty shipping companies, flying transports was the best thing she could think off and her dream was owning that special yacht so she can explore space in luxury. Her work with the company involved the usual cargo runs like rations, water, oxygen and luxury food. Then after the company received new contracts her cargo runs change to very high valued cargos, there was very high stress coming from here superiors to not lose any of this cargos and that it was time sensitive, but this wasn't any problems for here, but flying through lanes made her work less effective so she found an opportunity to use those jump hole rumors most traders heard, and in time she effectively charted enough of them to make her run most successfully. Sara got most praise from here friends in the company but not from her superiors, words reached them that she use unconventional method to get to her drop point.

Sara continued to do her special runs and she sometimes meets other transport on smuggling runs, some would just fly by without any contact and some would exchange few word with here and there was a few that their ship would stop because of broken engine, most of them cant afford new version so they put a few scraps together and call it an engine. Sara didn't mind stopping to give them assistance some thanks her help and some just mumbled the word with suspicious eyes, and some didn't mind sharing a story with here like a smuggler by the name of Shane, he would just go on about his travels through uncharted space but very little about his operation in those part of space and Sara didn't mind hearing his stories as she was most interested.

Few month later the company had troubles covering some of their debt, and had to make considerable sacrifices by terminating some of their factory workers and dock workers as well and replacing them with new model of robots to save money and hours, but they couldn't afford to lose their transport captains but they found this opportunity to terminate one captain that didn't fallow company policy, soon after that she left planet side and started spending most of her time in bars while fixing her old transport, and it wasn't long before she met her old friend Shane and got together for a drink and told him about her story, so to repay her Shane offered to bring her with him and into the smuggling operation but she wasn't sure, but Shane knew she wouldn't refuse her dream.

Weeks past, Shane and Sara smuggling became somewhat legend, transporting highly illegal cargo, with no one the wiser. Shane still unsure about his newly found helper, he still keeps a few hidden secrets from Sara, he received an encrypted transmission about a meeting so he sent Sara to get supplies. Sara like the good navigator she is found shortcuts so she returned a bit early, only to find strange characters having words with Shane, she got close to listen in and barely could put clear images, the argument gets heated and only in a fraction of seconds they drew their pistols and started shooting, she falls to her knees with shock, Shane falls dead on the floor of his ship, suddenly sounds of police units was heard and the 3 men left the scene. Sara still stunned but aware of the situation, she convince her self to move and leave the ship.

Still trying to find out what happen back in Shane ship, she kept on doing smuggling work knowing that is the best way to get a clear picture of what happen, but this wasn't enough she had to expand her operation get a full crew, find Shane contacts and his old smuggling friends he kept on talking about, wasn't long until she realized she was planing a smuggling organization and it wasn't going to be that easy either.

[color=#000000]The Outer Project is the complete opposite of what the Inner Project is in the smuggling rings. Members of the Outer Project don'€™t care about secrecy or whether or not their name is known amongst the lawful forces. Their motto: get the job done as fast as possible, no matter what.

This means members of the Outer Project aren'€™t afraid to take shortcuts through systems with extreme military defenses. Tradelanes and jumpgates are the main travelling system these people use. And even if one gets caught by lawful forces, they won'€™t go down without a fight risking their hide by flying through minefields or the extreme warmth of a sun. Nothing is too risky for members of the Outer Project, and nothing will stop their cargo from reaching its destination.


They are the tools of The inner project to make those hard choice in order to get the jobe done, they kill, pirate, smuggle in open view so that they may keep all eyes on them, though never seen shaking hands or drinking with the inner project, they know they are thier right hand.

Just a general question: Aren't smugglers better off by doing their foggy business on their own? I bet joining any group/faction would be a vulnerable point in every smugglers log. (Freight lists, ship names, communication logs, etc.) Imagine the police or any lawful bounty hunter will get its hands on this single log... this would blow up the cover of the entire smuggler group.

Its true there is that risk, but the profit to be gaind is bigger pluse this smuggling ring will have a lot more security measure, like for example setting thier ship to explode when getting boarded or assasinate anyone who think about talking to the law, this is where our pirate friend come in.

we are also going to try paying off any corrupt officer we can find this will make it easy to keep our operation in the dark.

How is the profit to be gained greater? The less people involved, the less people there are to share in the profits. It's a decent concept, but in the end, the less people that know what a smuggler is doing, the better it will be.

There will be no such logs.
Persons /characters/ will be designated to search for and collect deals for smuggling operations.
Different persons /characters/ will fulfill the contracts.
The former will never meet the latter - only the middle man/boss/.
Tasks will be handed in person only - in a specialized forum tread. On the surface it will be just another trading company - on the small side.

There is war out there. People shoot first and don't bother to ask questions. There is not enough work both profitable and safe enough for singletons.
A single smuggler has no backing and no resourses to bribe enough people or to find enough good deals to survive. Several of them united just may be able to pull it off.

While you need to check your spelling, I like idea of smugglers faction.

And smugglers faction is quite possible, instead, they're able to collect larger sumes of money, take part in larger operations.

I like the idea, but I would recommend going full shady illegal, ofc when stopped try to bribe people around. I always had this concept of smugglers using holes, avoiding lanes, doing under the table deals with all the unlawful groups they can. If you mask it as legal trading company you get IND, but since you're not in IND, or any part of the IND, all the crap they pulled with their ID, neutrality, embargo deals won't be successful.

I say go full shady, make deal with pirates, blackmail people with pretty pictures you collect on your trips, sell various information to various groups.

But in the end its your idea and faction. Above is just my suggestion.

The idea is a bit of mafia style - as in - on the surface there exist a small, not particularly rich or important trading company, that is expected to be seen here and there. Behind the humble face though exist exactly your suggestion of an enterprise. It is possible for the face company to employ a couple of captains that have absolutely no idea of the shady side, and are only used as a smoke screen.
As for the smugglers per se - a smuggler is someone who a) delivers illegal gargo to lawful ports, bypasing police, customs, etc; or b) delivers cargo to unlawful /or lawfull/ bases through blokade. Trere will be a lot of hole jumping and lane avoiding, but the final destination of smuggled goods is often a big lawful base/planet.

The fraction creating is not so much for the cash profit, as it is for the infinite possibilities for RP.

I don't even know all the restricted/forbidden runs that are out there, but am already anticipating such fuuuuuunnnn:)

Drop the prefix as all it does is highlight what you seek to hide.

Before TLAGSNET I often wished I had a pilot flying shotgun 15k ahead, but that's the past. I think TLAGSNET is superb, but it does nerf Smuggling. When [Trafalgar] was in operation we would often team up to ship illegal goods, for fun & for additional security.

This group would benefit from well placed lookouts shadowing their operations on the tradelanes to keep the transports updated & to distract the opposition with choice RP. Try to bribe a cop & then later threaten to release screenshots to their superiors. Have a wingman. Make connections with the locals. Keep the group small & friendly & split the profits.

Smuggling is conducted for the thrill of being caught, not the money.

I do not understand people that ask aren't smugglers better on their own since there's like... 25 different "unlawful" factions all having smuggling under their operations.

I'm glad another smuggling company is appearing. With the current blockades you could make much more cash and accomplish some awesome roleplay.

Feel free to browse trough OTC wiki http://www.discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php/OTC even though OTC is dead the wiki still looks neat. Use the template for your wiki or anything else that might help you. Keep in mind that no self respecting smuggler will want to reach you and join you unless they're bored

you should aim at new people (have Angels send you those that want to be unlawful) and at old bored people that want a new job (like teaching new people how to run fast)
