The Privus Zoners
The Patriarch:
In 790A.S. John Cole was born into a poor family on Planet New London. Having a strong sense of right and wrong, it was only natural for John to join the Bretonian Police. Unfortunately, the Police turned out to be nearly as corrupt as the criminals he arrested. In an attempt to see justice done, John hunted down several corrupt officers. However, John could not prove the crimes of officers and was forced to flee Bretonia, lest he be hunted himself.
In an attempt to start a new life, John signed up as an escort pilot for the GMG. John enjoyed the freedom he experienced in the GMG, at least at his level, there were no worries of corruption.
During a delivery to Gran Canaria, John's convoy was attacked by a small group of Wilde. While the attack was repelled, the convoy's transport was severly damaged and needed extensive repairs before it would be space worthy again. With the convoy grounded for the time being, John decided to see how the Zoners lived on Gran Canaria. The immense freedom that they enjoyed and the simplicity of their lifestyle appealed to John greatly. John would have stayed on Gran Canaria if it wasn't for growing tensions between the Zoners and a large group of pirates. So John found the next best thing, Freeport 1. Eventually the pirate group that was troubling the Zoners of Gran Canaria was eradicated, however, John had invested too much into his accomodations on Freeport 1. This meant he couldn't leave without being forced into poverty again. This was something John would not allow.
Founding:
Before the Privus Zoners came to power, Freeport 1 had more criminals onboard than almost every other freeport. Thefts and assaults occured on a daily basis. The oppressed Zoner could try stand up to the criminal overlords, but those kind of Zoners often disappeared. John saw that something had to be done. After spending many nights in bars of Freeport 1, John finally found someone of use. This important person was a Lane Hacker who shared John's distaste for corruption. With a few days of planning, John's forceful eviction of criminal scum was about to begin. The Lane Hacker used his skills to gain access to the Freeport's public messaging system, where he planted a pre-recorded message between advetisements. The message read:
Greetings Zoners of Freeport 1. I have only lived here a short portion of my lifetime, however one thing I have noticed about our home is that we are prisoners. We are Zoners, we are meant to be free, but as long as unruly criminal scum lurks aboard Freeport 1, we will forever live in fear. I want to be free of fear, don't you? Assemble in storage bay 12 for more information at 14:00 SMT.
As John had hoped, hundreds crammed into storage bay 12 to hear his words. He spoke of the injustice, the crime, the violence and the intimidation that particular groups of people brought to Freeport 1. Many tried to say that they bring money into the Freeport, to which John replied "Tell me the price of freedom and I will pay it." So long as everyone onboard the Freeport followed certain rules, their life outside the Freeport did not matter. Virtually everyone was swayed by John's arguments and all agreed to help make their Freeport safe again.
After the discussion had come to an end some cried from the crowd "What is your name?"
"My name? It is not important, I am your Patriarch and you are the liberated, the Privus Zoners."
A sense of purpose excited the Zoners. They had come looking for peace and they were on the verge of acheiving it.
Within a week, signs had appeared all over the Freeport. Each one bore the laws of the Privus Zoners that, were largely ignored by the non Zoners of the Freeport. However, in the central atrium of Freeport 1, the Patriarch witnessed a man being mugged.
"Were our written warnings not enough!?" He cried. "This is the very sort of activity I set out to eliminate!" Within moments, all Zoners in the atrium had turned to the mugger. The atrium was silent until Patriarch spoke. "Let justice be served!" Patriarch called. With that, the mob of Zoners was upon the mugger.
After the crowd was finished, the criminal lay twitching for a few moments before crawling away. Suffice to say, criminal activity had virtually ceased to exist aboard Freeport 1.
The Privus Zoners Today:
The Privus Zoners now maintain a strong presence on Freeport 1 where they offer all sorts of services to travellers. While some of the Privus Zoners have strayed a little from the original goal, they still seek to keep at least Freeport 1 safe, the rest of Sirius may not always count on them however. The Privus Zoners may not have the most tangible wealth, but they certainly have the most heart.

Light Fighters, Heavy Fighters and Freighters of the civilian and borderworlds line. Larger ships are available with special permission.

I originally meant it as the Omegas would be where we hang around looking for work and we would head into Bretonia when we are in need of supplies that our friends aren't shipping to us.

As you first come up with this idea here, i liked it pretty much (unless the no cap stuff).
Maybe i am wrong but i somehow have the feeling that the final version of this idea now is much more alike to the mainstream zoners than originally planned?
However i will move a char to FP1 to get a picture of you guys myself, hope you will become some unique zoners and not just another group within the "all-the-same" zoner guys.

Welcome to Freeport 1 general area, please disable your guns to prevent any unfortunate accidents. Freeport 1 is an old installation, and as such, not in the high level of performance, therefore one breach of hull could be catastrophic.
You are welcome to use the limited amenities we have on board, as long as you respect the neutrality of the installation and do not attempt any assassinations, muggings, murders, scams or otherwise harmful activities.
If you are attacked within the No Fire Zone, you are clear to defend yourself, however, we would prefer you dock with the station, or if that is not possible due to the size of the ship, moor yourself and allow it to extend it's shields around your ship, thereby putting you out of harms way.
In other words, welcome, and see you in space:)
