Initiation. - Osilon - 04-04-2011

At night, Leeds is as active as during the day. The industrial planet never slept, never dimmed, the glow from a thousand towers lighting up the clouds. Factory districts were packed like blocks into the space, no earth untouched in the name of Bretonian advance- however, by some miracle of human nature, people had found space to scratch out a residential life, among the bustling production lines. Homes, bars, clubs, somehow they managed to spring up in the minor spaces between factories.
Julian slowly walked down the street from one such place, in no hurry, with a slight blonde girl clutched to his side. She never ceased talking, telling him about what a night she'€™d had, how fun he was, how all her girlfriends were going to be so very jealous of him. He just smiled and nodded in recognition, one arm around her slim waist, skipping between light and dark by the streetlamps that dotted the path. He didn'€™t consciously absorb most of the things she said, focusing on the more important things. The slight irregularity of her heartbeat, and the way her beautiful eyes looked in the darkness. He halted her speech, smiling gently. '€œShall we go to my ship? I'€™ve got fine accommodations.'€ She just nodded an absent grin on her kind face.
Julian led the girl up the ramp to the vessel, remembering how he'€™d picked her up from the club. He didn'€™t even know her name yet. Oh well, those things would come later. They walked through the ship, to his minor bedroom. By the way she was clinging to his shirt; he could tell what she wanted. But he wasn'€™t going to oblige, he had other things in mind...
And he was ever so hungry...

When Lucia awoke, she couldn't see. Nor hear, smell, or move. All she could feel was a throbbing pain in the side of her neck, and rippling aches that emanated from somewhere on her torso, before someone appeared in her blurry field of view, pressing something to her lips. A liquid of some description touched her lips, and she accepted it without knowing what it was, the metallic taste odd, but strangely soothing to the pain within her as she began to awaken.
She blinked a couple of times, looking up at the blonde haired man who had accompanied her the previous night. No longer happy, or witty. Just watching over her like a doctor would examine his patient, or a father would his daughter. He returned the glass to the table next to her, out of her range of view. "You'll need to drink a lot at this point. It is necessary you don't lose your sanity." He said, either quietly, or her hearing was still imperfect. She could only hear a piercing ring, over which everything was audible.
At this point, Lucia had realised several things. First, she couldn't see because there was absolutely no light in the ship, none at all. The only light came from the cockpit viewport, which was dimmed to near-black, casting everything in a strange twilight in the smog-colored light of Leeds. The second, was that she was chained, or cuffed, to a bed, unable to move little more than struggling. The third thing was by far the strangest. She felt no fear. No fear, no anger and no unhappiness. Though conversely, she felt no happiness or joy. It was as if something had latched onto her consciousness and drawn away her emotion.
Her train of thought was quickly interrupted as a slight ache ran through her body. The blonde chuckled at her show of discomfort. "It will all be over soon. For now, you must rest." He murmered, gently touching her cheek. She didn't even wish to resist...and so she slept.

Later on, the next evening, she awoke gently. With little memory of what had occured the previous two nights, she slowly opened her eyes - a throbbing headache elicited a slight groan from her, and her dullish amber eyes quickly sealed themselves shut again. It seemed to her as if the room she was in was simply too bright - not uncomfortably so, not such that it made it hard to see, but that there was just no need for it to be as bright as it was, no rhyme or reason to the invasive currents of light around her.
Slowly, she opened her eyes again, squinting as she got used to her surroundings. They looked familiar, and the memories came trickling back, like a viscous stream - she was in his ship, and it was dark. Very dark. Why she had thought it was bright, she couldn't even remember. She tried to move her left arm. No luck.
She tried the right one. Success. She scratched her forehead, and saw a small cup next to her on a small table. The same one from last night. She reached out with her shaky hand and grabbed it in an attempt to bring it to her lips - a moment later, there were drops of dark red on her blouse, but she hardly noticed it as she brought the cool vessel to her lips, a metallic, yet strangely sweet-tasting liquid flowing slowly into her mouth. She lay there for a few moments, sipping from the cup, before she placed it on the table aside her again and relaxed. She knew, somehow, that he would come back later. She hoped he would bring more of the liquid, whatever it was, because she knew that she needed it, somehow. It was too good, she couldn't not have it.
Once again, she fell calmly asleep.

Julian watched in the darkness as Lucia awoke for the third time. Twelve hour intervals. Exactly.
Strange.
He turned the lights up just a small amount, illiciting a small groan from her. Not out of pain, directly, but her eyes must have adjusted to the dark by now, and the light would have to strain her retinas.
"Shhh, my sweet. You're safe now, remember? You're with me." He murmered with a calming tone, causing her to settle. Lucia acted as if she was drugged, her eyes were unfocused, and she only slightly receptive of him at this point. He walked up to the bed where she lay, checking her mouth. Her gums were bleeding and cut, though she didn't seem to mind. Her heartbeat had shallowed too, and she was thinner than before...however, this was all to be expected. Julian filled the glass next to her from a wine bottle, coaxing her to drink it in her semi-conscious state. Then he turned the lights back to blackness, leaving his precious gem to rest her changing body.

Lucia sat on the edge of the bed, taking another drink from her glass. She didn't sleep anymore. Not at all. Her body was weak and pained her regularly, all she could do was drink. Her mouth bled. Her arms were thin, and she suspected her chest was too.
The dark was home for her now. She could see a lot better than the first day, and the drink had become succulent to her parched throat. She'd tried many times to push it away, but she always came back, she required it now. She knew it was soon, that she would no longer have to endure this torment.
