Bretonia Police Authority - Bretonia Police Authority - 04-10-2011 Bretonia Police Authority
Professional. Incorruptible. Dependable. This is the Bretonia Police Authority. Widely held to be a bastion of justice throughout Sirius, the BPA is respected by friends and foes alike. The BPA is responsible for the public safety of all Bretonian citizens and foreign visitors, provided that they are not hostile towards Bretonia, our Allies, or ourselves. Standard Operations include scanning transports for contraband, collecting fines, upholding the embargo and operating the important Licensure Board. As the BPA is also responsible for the safety of the public, we will engage pirates, terrorists, and other enemies only when they are a threat to us and the public. Overview
The BPA is a lawful, police faction, with certain distinct differences with the lawful, Bretonia Armed Forces, the BAF. BPA members use the Bretonia Police ID and wear a BPA tag.
Unlike the BAF, which is aggressively dedicated to the defense of Bretonia from external powers, such as the GRN, the BPA is not interested in such matters. In fact, pursuing these matters is completely out of our jurisdiction. The BPA is dedicated to the defense of Bretonia from within. Our primary concern is that Bretonia does not break down from rampant crime within while our nation is subjected to multiple attacks every day from Gallic Forces. The Hub. Home to New Scotland Yard The Bretonian Police Headquarters. The BPA does not discriminate by what your causes may or may not be. If you are a hostile vessel and you are breaking the law, you are the same in the eyes of the law. Because of this, the BPA has a Zone of Interest that is restricted to Bretonia space. Only when escorting VIPs or Diplomats will the BPA temporarily leave Bretonia space for a Border World System. Zone of Influence:
Primary patrol zone : New London , Cambridge , Newcastle , Manchester, Poole, Leeds, Dublin Secondary patrol zone : Omega 3, Magellan, Cortez, Tau-31 Organization
BPA Constables are the defense of Bretonian Laws and Lifestyle. We are at the forefront of a battle against petty crime, piracy, smuggling, and terrorism. Constables and Officers, enforce the law in Hussar Light Fighters, the Paladin class Heavy Fighter or the Templar class Very Heavy Fighter. The main objectives of regular Constables are to maintain public safety and peace, control smuggling, and prevent and intervene in times of piracy. Our goal is to secure the traffic flow and safety of Bretonian citizens and guests. Aside from the typical enforcement of law within Bretonia itself, the BPA also maintains two other subdivisions, the SRD and the CCD. These divisions assist the regular constables in the execution of duties that require special attention. The Special Response Division: Formed by the BPA under former Commissioner Sir Alan Lauderdale in 816 A.S, the SRD was formed in response to the increasing amount of attacks mounted by the Corsairs and the Mollys. Tasked with the specific goal of providing to the BPA the ability to tackle enemy capital ships, the SRD consists of B-1290 Templar Bretonia Very Heavy Fighters, B-3000 Challenger Bombers, Bretonia Gunboats and Bretonia Destroyers (limited only to high ranking members and the leadership). SRD vessels are not regular police vessels, and as a result, do not have the same responsibilities as regular police vessels but due to an increase in heavy pirate activity can occasionally act as a normal police vessel if no other police vessel is nearby. SRD vessels are only to be used when there is a dire emergency or the threat of attack from enemy capital ships when BAF support is inadequate or not present. The SRD is tasked to patrol the Dublin gold fields to protect BMM ships and halt any smugglers coming through. In order to become an SRD Pilot, one must apply to the Command Staff and undergo significant training at our training grounds in Poole. The Commerce Control Division: Formed by former Commissioner Joshua Cooper, the CCD was formed to combat the slew of independent traders and smugglers which saw (and still see) the conflict as an opportunity for unconscionable money-making by breaking through the Tau-31-blockade. Confronted with criminal and dangerous transport ships on a daily base, the BPA decided to fight fire with fire. The CCD, entirely focused on cargo control, consists of Armored Transports and Percherons, Prison Liners, Shire Bretonian Container Transports, Shetland Bretonian Trains (for moving high amounts of confiscated or hazardous cargo) to seize contraband and oppose violent smugglers. The BPA's Chain of Command is as follows: - Commander, 1ic - Chief Superintendent, 2ic - Superintendent - Chief Inspector - Inspector - Sergeant - Constable - Junior Constable There are a total of five Superintendents who are in direct command of their authorized systems. In those areas, the Superintendent Jurisdiction is supreme, excluding the Leeds Superintendent who shares authority with the BAF in Leeds and the Newcastle Superintendent who shares authority with the BAF in Newcastle. Superintendents in other Superintendents regions are subject to the authority of the home Superintendent. The Warden of Manchester is responsible for all normal Superintendents duties including acting as a liaison to the Bounty Hunter's Guild as well as the maintenance and defense of BPA Newgate Prison. Advancement in rank will be determined by your behavior ingame and on the forums by your Commander and Superintendents. Equipment
The BPA is one of the best equipped police forces in the Sirius Sector. However, the BPA operates on a strict equipment system. The only ships that regular BPA Police Constables and Officers field is the B-294-L Series Hussar Light Fighter, and the Paladin Heavy Fighter, they are Incredibly agile and reliable. However Constables who prove themselves will be authorized to use the Templar Very Heavy Fighter. An exception to that rule is the SRD and the CCD, short for Special Response Division and Commerce Control Division. SRD pilots are trained for anti-capital combat and thus fly the B-3000 Challenger Bombers, Bretonia Gunboats and Bretonia Destroyers. CCD captains control Clydesdales, Armored Transports and Percherons, Prison Liners, Shire Bretonian Container Transports, Shetland Bretonian Trains in order to seize contraband and oppose violent smugglers. The only weapons that BPA members, officers and constables alike, are allowed to use are Bretonian weapons and civilian weapons. In addition, all officers should have competent thrusters, countermeasures, and an Advanced Cargo Scanner. On promotion to Constable the pilot can apply to the Commander for advanced weaponry and equipment Training
Bretonia Police recruits are given a short test after their application and are shown the ropes by an experienced officer. Upon which point the recruit is officially recognized as a Junior Constable. This is a temporary rank and the recruit will be promoted to Constable as soon as the training has been satisfactorily completed. After successful documentation of three patrols and shadowing a superior Officer at least once, the Junior Constable will become a Constable. Constables will then be allowed to sign up for training in one of the other divisions of the BPA such as the SRD or CCD. Modus Operandi
The BPA has a highly professional mode of operation. When asked to halt, your ship already has been scanned. If there is nothing wrong with your cargo, you will not be stopped. The transport, freighter, or fighter will be expected to comply. If there is no cooperation, the BPA reserves the right to stop your ship by force. The BPA will always try to solve conflicts peacefully. When encountering a potential enemy, our constables will try to convince the violator in leaving Bretonia Space before using force. If force is required, the BPA will always inform the enemy of the application of lethal force. The Bretonian High Court
ndividuals or groups who feel their treatment was unfair by the BPA) can appeal the officers decision in court which is held by the Kingdom of Bretonia. All available information will be given to the court to deal with your case as they see fit. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty. How To Join
