Strange Jump Hole Infocard - Klaw117 - 04-25-2011

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this before. In almost all the jump hole infocards, you see a warning message like this:

However, there are a few (I've seen two so far) jump holes that have this infocard:

Have anyone else noticed this before? Judging by the names "Valhalla Research" (most likely Ageira Technologies) and "Monument Engineering" (most likely Deep Space Engineering), it looks like this was leftover from development like the Outcast rumors about the eight sleeper ships. It also points to direct evidence that jump holes have a tendency to kill you or transport you to some distant area of space. Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to tweak the jump holes a bit so that traveling inside of them actually presents some sort of danger to the pilot.

Think of you as the head of the guys who built jumpgates. Do YOU want free jumpgates for everyone? No! You say that these natural phenomenons are highly dangerous!

And it seems that you selected the New Berlin jumphole in Sigma-13. It IS dangerous, because A LOT of Wilde NPC may spawn when you're on either side of the hole;)

You are correct.
Valhalla Research was the original name for Ageira Technologies, just as Monument Engineering was the original DSE.

Tweaking would likely be possible, but it would end up being annoying for those who have to use jump holes a lot.

Also in Disco lore the Valhala project is responsible for the Texas bang, trying to develop the first long-range jump gate, i.e travel beyond the borders of the Sirius sector

Like jump gates, jump holes are semi-permeable areas in real-space that have a tendency to breach the natural boundaries of linear time and space. Unlike jump gates, though, these anomalies occur naturally and so are both unpredictable and unstable. Traveling through jump holes is a risky proposition at best. Though some have been charted and, based on accounts from ships that have accidentally encountered them, have had their exit points logged, just as many ships have never been heard from again. Magnetic and gravimetric readings are consistent with a Jump Hole -- a natural phenomenon that functions similar to a Jump Gate, though the hazards associated with traveling through a Jump Hole remain largely unknown. Ageira Technologies recommends avoiding all contact with Jump Holes.

Edit: Unfortunately, I don't have a vanilla install to check.
