More or less NPC - Kharon - 05-16-2011 Some may actualy not noticed but the NPCs (Non-player characters) are set off when the Server is at full capacity aka 200 Real/Role-player characters. I never noticed anyone complain about this! But i did hear countless complains about the fustration NPC cause by to frequently cutting lanes and constantly CDing ((cruise) disrupting) free cruise flight. Also any advanced Player most likely got killed multiple Times by crossfire from "own" allied NPC Capitals trying to fire away everything they have at some level2 enemy NPC right behind him. Additionaly some Players even found themselves shot right after undocking somewhere, with no chance at all (see real scenario example Picture below). So are NPC needed for the Roleplay as they are now, or not, or should this be tweaked a bit or more? More or less NPC - neke - 05-16-2011 They also like to block jumpgates and bases. More or less NPC - Ceoran - 05-16-2011 I'd be inclined to say "less but harder, but keep the traders around" but I guess that would lead to ridiculous situations where NPC convoys would be nuked by NPC pirates in no time. Still, something along that line. Maybe make give the NPC transports better shields without buffing their guns? Space would look too lonely without them. Also, don't touch the cap-patrols. they prevent base-camping. If you are getting shot by them after launching you probably shouldn't have docked there in the first place (yes, I know there are exceptions, but they are pretty rare) More or less NPC - Enoch - 05-16-2011 ' Wrote:Also, don't touch the cap-patrols. they prevent base-camping. I know that it is supposed to be a realistic edge, but lowering their numbers won't hurt. More or less NPC - AceJoker - 05-16-2011 I didn't vote cuz my opinion doesn't fit with the poll options: I would rather appreciate it when 2 things happen to NPCs: 1) removed from Jump Gates/Holes completely. Why? - They cause traffic jam 2) change their CDs to weaker ones. Why? - Simple. Sitting in a fighter you can easily get rid of them. In a transport it's a different story. I don't know which it is, but replacing the CD of the Outcast-NPCs in Orkney for example with the CDs that the Blood Dragon NPCs use, it would be a great relief IMHO. But i see that mostly caused by bad autopiloting from the NPC. Maybe some more speed on NPC could fix that. 2) I agree completely to the Problem but i would advice another sollution. Make Transports and Caps harder to CD. ALG Golem Heavy Mover for instance is described as exessivly shielded and it doesnt even have an CM slot, yet it gets easily stopped by NPC. More absurd with the Barge, which has Engines all in front. Some NPC shoots at its a** 2 miles away from engines and its cruise gets killed. And last not least there is the equipable "Heavy Train CD" that brings no advantage at all cause one can stop the biggest Battleship with a normal Train CD. That disrupt capability should be spread more on the Targets IMHO. So you NEED that "Heavy Train CD" to stop Battleships for example and few of the biggest Transports should also have a 50% chance maybe to get away with a hit from a Train CD. Well, I'd say if they encourage patrol-hugging, then the opponent probably had entered an area of space where he should break off. Not everything is about the blue message, and with the new ruleset you won't suffer any penalties if you let your victim go. I've seen some bigger ones withstanding TCD hits. So it's not entirely useless. Maybe the AoE of the TCD should be a reduced a little bit so it barely suffices for the largest tranport (not the barge, that's not a transport but a flying tube of toothpaste). More or less NPC - SpaceTime - 05-16-2011 Drastically nerf NPCs in all systems except the Guard ones and the systems-warzones. More or less NPC - trekky - 05-16-2011 no because when you need to fix your rep NPC killing is the best way to go More or less NPC - Charos - 05-16-2011 Quote:Drastically nerf NPCs in all systems except the Guard ones and the systems-warzones. |
