1.You have to add a "hudshift.dll" entry in your dacom.ini (under the [Libraries] category) located in the EXE folder
2.Copy hudshift.dll into the EXE folder
3.Copy hudshift.ini to DATA\INTERFACE
4.Open it up and search for your screen resolution
5.Lets say you run in 1280x768
Edit this
; Adjustments for 15:9 (1280x768).
[;HUDShift]
Horizontal = 0.127
to this
; Adjustments for 15:9 (1280x768).
[HUDShift]
Horizontal = 0.127
don't change anything else, only remove that one semicolon in the entry fitting your screen resolution
Worked for me this way, I hope it helps.

Looks to me like you've set up the wrong aspect ratio in Hudshift. I presume you're trying to play Freelancer in 1920*1080 - 16 to 9, in other words.
Try replacing your hudshift.ini located in Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0\DATA\INTERFACE with this one which I've configured for 16:9.
Drop me a PM if it doesn't work, or make a new thread in this subforum. This old thread isn't the best place to discuss this.

Does cameras.ini still needs a fix? I have the feeling that my comm-window is now filling up more of the screen than before. Or is it the new font?
