Planetform and Wildlife - RockCrystal - 06-12-2011 Here's a hypothetical situation. A Planetform security ship(Let's call him Gus) comes across an independant trader(By the name of Mac) carrying Gaian Wildlife. Gus stops Mac and tries to engage him in conversation, but Mac only says 'price pirate'. Now, Gus's options here are very restricted by the Planetform ID. Quote: Can trade and escort traders So, even though Planetform might be reasonably expected to police themselves when it comes to preventing the export of Gaian Wildlife - it is, after all, only sold on their base - they -don't have the power to do anything at all-. I'd like to fix this, and I see two options to proceed: A. Change the ID. The more obvious choice, this could be handled simply by adding a line saying 'Can demand that ships illegally carrying Gaian Wildlife drop their cargo and destroy them if they refuse'. B. Change the Laws of Bretonia. If it's not illegal, it's not an 'unlawful action', correct? The more interesting choice IMO, this could be done by presenting a petition to the Bretonian Government to change the law, anything from simply ignoring Planetform as they enforce this one Contraband law, to Deputizing them into the BPA and giving them authority over Edinburgh and Tau-31 -only-. My question is simple. Which of these options should I pursue? Or, is there something I've overlooked? Planetform and Wildlife - SnakThree - 06-12-2011 Change laws of Bretonia. Go for roleplay on a roleplay server. Planetform and Wildlife - sadtranslation - 06-12-2011 I think that there are actually two points to raise; First of all, Gaian Wildlife is not such a faction-specific commodity as Gate and Lane parts for Ageira/DSE. It's a kind of goods that require licensing by the House, but not by the Planetform, even. Basically, Planetform only performs operations on Gaia's surface and moves the animls to Perth, but the Gaia is the planet controlled by the Kingdom of Bretonia and the Kingdom controls it. The same Lane Parts are much oer restricted due to being produced by the Ageira and distributed directly from Pueblo and via their partners on Trenton. The second point is that no Corporation ID allows agression against any players different from the specific unlawful factions, Pirate IDed players and the corporations that belong to Houses in war. Corporations can call the Police or Military or submit the report to the nearby Police office, but it's a mere misconception that Corporations should be allowed to hunt the players hauling specific cargo. Discovery Universe in not that much antiutopic. And as Planetform is the only one who aquires the wildlife (legally) for whatever reasons - terraforming/research, I think it is reasonable that their security services would control who buys, and be able to stop unlawfuls from buying. However the question is would they want to? These guys bought from planetform - they paid money, so perhaps you should RP it that planetform is happy making some shady cash on the side. Perhaps that would be most in line with npc faction rp. ' Wrote:Change laws of Bretonia. Go for roleplay on a roleplay server. If you do want to change it, I agree with snak3 Planetform and Wildlife - RockCrystal - 06-14-2011 ' Wrote:... Hone raises a valid point here. I'm also concerned about taking roleplay opprotunities from the BPA). Then again, as a security guard at Planetform, I get maybe a couple lines of roleplay from Gaians or KNF - then pewpew. BPA? Speak up, don't be shy. In the OP, I mention Edinburgh and Tau-31 because TLAGSNET doesn't work there, and I assumed that you normally don't go to those systems because of that. But maybe that's wrong. Would this take away from the BPA's RP? Or is it just catching the smugglers that slip through your net? Planetform and Wildlife - BaconSoda - 06-14-2011 To be honest, Planetform should not really have Gaian Wildlife...anything. That should really be an OS&C thing. You know, since why would Planetform poach endangered and increasingly rare species to populate planets. Or...Whatever it is they do with them. Silly thing. But I suppose if we really want to reinforce silliness, then deputizing Planetform would be alright. I don't think anyone would really complain about that Roleplay move. I don't think it would be hard to change the ID server-side in that event either. Also, TLAGSNET probably doesn't work in Edinburgh because there are no Trade Lanes there, and it probably doesn't work in Tau-31 because that system is a little off the beaten path for a Police Officer (being enemy occupied territory and all - or at least the TLs and JGs). Planetform and Wildlife - Azan27 - 06-14-2011 Well, I think it would be very interesting if Planetform and the BPA entered into negociations to change the law about Gaian wildlife, as that would make for some good RP. As for the BPA, I think that they just arn't that active in that system, although I have no idea why... Its a beautiful system, really, and the BPA would have some excellent roleplay to offer the system. Quote:To be honest, Planetform should not really have Gaian Wildlife...anything. In response to this, I think that the Gaian wildlife avalable for sale on Perth station is acutally not poached, but rather 'Sustainably harvested' for 'reasearch' reasons... So some of it may slip into the black market, but the actual sale of Gaian wildlife to people from Perth station is perfectly legal. |
