Question: What is the reason behind this communities obsession with not posting in old threads?

Make new thread of your own: waste time, get told to use search.

Post in old thread: get thread locked.

Why?

Depends if you're posting a valid question in the old thread. Agreed though.

I think people just like to post pictures of shovels.

Seriously though, I don't think gravedigging is a problem if the point is relevant. People tend to get narky however if there's 15 pages of 3-year-old material to slog through.

And the stock answer, "do a search", really gets my back up... coz I'm sorry to say, but the Invision Power Board search function sucks. Example, I meet a dude in space named "Jell", so I search the forums for any posts regarding that character. I get 19 pages of results, hitting everything from "Jello" to "Jelly" to "Jell*". The search also doesn't allow three character search terms, which makes it really hard looking for things like faction acronyms. (So I use Google when possible, adding "discoverygc" as a search term... much better.)

Sorry to drone on...
o.

Heres a quote from a Mod in the official pinned thread regarding gravedigging:

' Wrote:Bumping a comatose thread that still has a glimmer of relevance ain't an issue.

What we are talking about are the flat-out necrobumps. About 9 times out of 10, necrobumps are made for lulz, scab picking old sores, epeen crossing, or just your standard attention whoring.

Those of you who gasp in indignant offense at our step to fix an ongoing issue need to remember that & take a chill pill the size of an Oreo cookie.

And yet I posted in a thread about the kusari dessie, and it got locked. As far as I can tell thats still relevant, the kusari dessie is still here isnt it? It hasnt been resized has it? Seems to me the ones who stalk the forums looking for "Gravedigs" and posting (admittedly funny) pictures in them, are the ones spamming and doing it for the "lulz"

Double post.

Bad, why?

"Gravedigging" - Hone - 06-20-2011

Because one of them will just be repeating yourself.

P.S. Make your own thread about it!

All the new is a well forgotten old. Throwing some new opinions into any, be it new or old, topic is np.

Digging up a thread about gravedigging, Remilia Scarlet? Amusing.
