I'm back to Freelancer, full time and all that jazz. Those who know me will most likely know my fetish for starting up dead factions. I did IC|, BDM| and the current unofficial OSC|. I've only just realized the similarity in tag as well... o.O No, I don't have a fetish for '|'.
I want to start up the Mollys again, they are a personal favorite of mine and its a shame they died out and the only thing a Molly player seems to think he/she can do is pirate miners. I am wanting to bring the faction back to new life and climb it to new heights with some personal ideas and determination of my own. However there are some things about the faction I need to have confirmed before I can get this started.

Molly ID-IFF'ed can mine ore quite effectively but only in Spatial/Hegemon

1. dunno. I only know them from their vanilla incarnation, Rebel miners that want to take over Dublin. Disco has done some crazy things to other factions though so they could be many things.
2. As you may have guessed, Dublin is their main conflict zone, but they also frequent Leeds to disrupt BMM operations there and steel MOX, New London caus its the seat of power for Bretonia (there are also rumours reffering to possible plot to MOX bomb planet New London) and Manchester, where most captured Mollies end up. They also have a base in Dundee, where they attack Kusari forces, and Cambridge, which was supposed to give them a front with the corsairs.
3. I think they have a relationship with the Liberty Rouges, its mostly a ship sharing thing but they could also be an alternate fence for Molly gold.
4. The latest changes to the mining system have given mollies a mining bonus for gold using the appropriate ships.
5. I think the Mollies could put up a decent level of resistance against a large corsair incursion but in the end would need assistance from the BAF to overcome it. From my understanding the corsairs can only send raiding parties through there because of the demands of their multi front war anyway.
The mollies have a decent amount of resources at their disposal due to their access to vast reserves of gold but manpower is a bit of an issue, they are after all rouge miners, and the demands of the war with Kusari, and soon Gallia, make their struggle look counter-productive (hence the several attempts at a truce with Bretonia)
Thats my take on the situation, however, I have never played as a molly and don't know the previous factions take on their situation.

You are mistaken on 5. they barely fight KNF, and soon Gallia, its not their interest to lose men for that, so they simply attack BAF and bretonian citizens less giving them less stuff to deal with.

A Molly question! Time to start sharin some opinions!
1: Just The Mollys I think
2: Bretonia and surrounding systems, no real need to be more specific. Flights to Lib and Rhienland to see their allies the Rogs and hessians.
3: Ship-Sharing with rogs, informal semi-alliance with IMG. Allied with Hessians. Super deadly unforgivable mega enemies with corsairs. Interesting Love/Hate relationship with the Outcasts, as outcasts kill corsairs, but also like to pirate in Dublin. (And have even tried to take it over once or twice).
4: IMG rate gold droprate, very useable for goldmining, especially in the higher yield molly goldfields. Can use all mining ships now I believe.
5: Too poor? No? Lacking the Manpower? Perhaps, The Mollys will never be able to BEAT the corsairs, at least not on their own, they are quite small, however they are fierce fighters, and can usually beat them on their own turf of Dublin, as the sairs are usually stretched thin. The corsairs have a stronger presence in O49 than the Mollys do, I guess it would be the equivalant of Omicron Eta for the outcasts, Mollys are ALREADY at war with the sairs in O49, but its not one they are likley (or even hoping) to WIN, just hold them off.

No way, back in the gold rush days, KNF would often invade Dublin, and that made them priority 2 targets, just after sairs. Then those damn hogosha started pirating in there. Kusarians are even less welcome in Dublin than Bretonians. (Although the breakdown of the treaty and council has almost made them equal).
