Pirates and Cargo drop limit discussion - Evan_ - 06-25-2011 So I've been thinking. We know that when a transport goes down, it drops 3000 units of the carried cargo. I never did give that a second thought - if one takes down a super-transport, some of the loot gets lost - it's still better than the nowadays common custom of shooting the cargo to show the aggressor how futile his attempt is, and he should get a job instead. Have you ever thought about why the drop is that exactly 3000 units? Most combat-capable vessels can ship it alone. Shoot-tractor-sell. While if you have more loot floating around than you can take away, it's an interesting situation. One tries to call friends, or just any passerby to help with the shipping, while he can worry about the cops to be faster. The floating cargo situation is one that promotes teamwork, and player-interaction. Also Barges came. One travels with 100 million worth of cargo. A pirate asks for 20 million (that's reasonable, right?). The Barge captain offers 10 million. Now the pirate is in a dilemma. If he doesn't accepts that, and shoots the Barge, he gets much less from the deal. But that 10 million is only a fraction of the target's total worth. TL:DR: Would it be good if transport drops were raised to... let's see... 6000? Or 8000? Or am I just a greedy pirate by even bringing that up? EDIT: Added 'Pirates' to the title to get some reads. Pirates and Cargo drop limit discussion - Ceoran - 06-25-2011 Loltraders shouldn't be the reason for the balance between traders and pirates to further shift towards pirates. I'm against it for I smell too much room for abuse. Pirates and Cargo drop limit discussion - SnakThree - 06-25-2011 I'd say lessen it to 50% of max cargo space. Pirates and Cargo drop limit discussion - Enoch - 06-25-2011 I'm not sure asking 20 millions for a Barge is reasonable. On-topic though, for 5k transports it makes sense and it's not really a huge loss for the cargo-pirate. But when it comes to Barges... I don't know. My reason is that guarding remains and hoping for that the next junker will arrive sooner than the cops is fun. Also, whenever I trade, I feel there's too few pirates. If it would shift the balance towards them, it's all the better. ' Wrote:I'm against it for I smell too much room for abuse.Care to elaborate? |
