Research into the Alien "Trade lanes" - Zeppy - 07-05-2011

Greetings
My name is Jack Denton and I am the Captain of the deep space exploration and research vessel Prometheus

A short time ago I published a report of my research into the Kansas system, if you have not read this report it can be found here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=103191

The report documents my associate's incounter with what appears to be a Trade Lane ring constructed in the style of the Daam K'Vosh. The ring was inactive but my associate was able to record the ring emitting small amounts of energy. Using this information I have tuned my scanner to pick up this distinct energy signature.

After searching many systems I have picked up what I believe to be a functioning alien Trade Lane.

This Trade Lane is located within Omicron Iota however, as some of you may know Omicron Iota is home to an extremly large population of "Nomads". In spite of the danger I foolhardly tried to take my ship through the Jump Hole and run the blockade. I lost ten men and women and almost died myself.

I have formulated a simple plan to bypass the blockade around the Jump Hole but I cannot do it alone, I will need the help of other pilots. It will be dangerous and some may die, there is however safety in numbers and I believe that the odds of success are fairly high if all goes to plan.

I cannot afford to pay much as I am not a wealthy man and most of my meagre income over the years has gone into the purchase of the Prometheus. However my benefactor, a man by the name of Zeppy, has offered me 18-million credits to be spent on the expedition. I will therefore pay anyone involved in this expedition 3-million Sirius credits (payment will be before the commencment of the expedition). If anyone is interested in helping please leave a reply on this comm channel containing your name, your affiliation and the model of your ship. If this venture generates sufficent interest I will post the plan on this channel.

The goal of my research is to gather data on the alien Trade Lanes, I have no intention of traveling near any alien space stations or other instalations.

Jack Denton, Captain of the Prometheus.

P.S. To avoid unfriendly tensions I will not work with any member of an Unlawful faction, those belonging to "Semi" lawful factions such as the Junkers are permitted.

P.P.S Combat worthy ships of the same size or smaller than a Gunboat are preferable for this expedition. Light and medium fighters are probably less than ideal unless the pilot has considerable renown as a skilled pilot.

Greetings, mr. Denton.

You have been indeed very brave to venture into deep Nomad space, and we offer our deepest condolences for the men and women you've lost in the operation. I must say, though, that this will likely be the outcome of any other similar action; Nomads are not something you fool around for fun, captain. Please, leave the aliens to the professionals.

On the matter of the alien relics, anyway, the data you gathered at such a high cost is still valuable. We will gladly offer our cooperation, should you decide to share it with us.

And please, one more time, and for no other reason that your safety and that of your crew: stay away from the Nomad systems for the future.

Gaiman out.

Research into the Alien "Trade lanes" - Zeppy - 07-05-2011

Greetings Captain

I know now that I was foolhardy in attempting to run the blockade around the Jump Hole alone and the deaths of my crew, some of whome were close friends of mine, weigh heavily on my mind. However from the data I was able to collect in the time before I ordered a retreat, defenses are minimal near the Trade Lanes (with the exception of patrols of course). I therefore believe that if a group can get past the blockade and provoided they are coordinated and fly carefully they should be relativly safe.

Though some would say returning to Omicron Iota so soon after the disaster that befell myself and my crew is foolhardy (I know this disaster is of my own doing of course), I would rather not let the lives of my crew go to waste.

In regards to the research, you are free to use it as is anyone, when it is complete I will post it to the Neural net.

Jack Denton, Captain of the Prometheus

P.S. I am sorry if this reply seems rushed, please do not take it a sign of disrespect, it is well past the time I usually retire however and I am very weary.

This is Catherine Herstal, Junker. My ship is a Combat Service Freighter. I find that people are often surprised to find out how long it can last in a fight, especially with additional armour. But my interest isn't purely financial. I'm interested to see what's behind these Nomad trade lanes. I live on Junction station, a wreck that often has power supply issues. Human trade lane designs need constant maintainence but if what I've read here is correct, the Daam K'Vash built theirs to last and I think the station, and the others who live there, would benefit greatly from knowing how they achieved this.

Greetings.

At this time, entry into Omicron Iota is restricted and generally banned by the Order. Due to the many and varied dangers of this sytem, I would urge you to reconsider this research project for now. Any attempts to enter Omicron Iota will likely result in an Order wing being dispatched to extract you and bring you in for rigorous Nomad infection screening.

However, I will pass this project onto my superiors and the Order science division. It is entirely possible that they may want to assist, or even perhaps recruit you to conduct this research. If this were the case, you would have the full support and protection of the Order on this endeavour.

Greetings,

I am Exarch Crying man of the Oracles.

We... inhabit certain places that.. you have interest in, namely kansas and certain sacred spaces beyond.

As for the data you've shown to be in possession of... the Cult of Sirius has much more detailed information.. without the need for you to risk your mortal life on further excursions.

They will not facilitate this data for free however.. for you see.. you are unclean to them and.. while you maybe thinking its simple research.. Poking into closely held secrets.. can make you a..marked man..

I have been instructed to offer you a meeting in a neutral location of your choosing. We can discuss... compromise... one that will facilitate your..survival.

As opposed to fumbling in dangerous and dark place for...answers.

Blessings.

Greetings Ms Herstal

Thankyou for your show of interest, but I must again reiterate that the "Nomad's" weaponry is very potent. If you are confident in your abilities however you are welcome to help.

However a couple of parties have expressed their...displeasure... over our entering Omicron Iota. I will try to negotiate with them to allow us safe passage and I will contact you again when I get the "Green light" so to speak.

Jack Denton, Captain of the Prometheus

P.S. the longevity of the Trade Lanes is something I had not considered and is a very good point, granted the Trade Lanes in Kansas were inoperable but they were still almost pristine after, at the very least, decades or centuries; our own Trade Lanes would have deteriorated long before that without proper maintainance.

Greetings Captain

I understand the Order's concerns over infestation.

I would gladly accept the Order's help in this expedition, the Order are known for their knowledge of the Nomads and this would come in great help, not to mention your millitary might of course. Please remember however that I cannot offer much in the way of money. Despite this I hope your Superiors choose to help me in this endevour.

If it would help at all I am all to glad to meet with members of the Order so that I may be checked for Nomad infestation.

Greetings

I am sorry if I have trespassed on your sacred places or caused any disrespect in any other way. If I guess correctly I would not be permitted to share the Information you offer, if this is the case then I am afraid I will not be purchasing it.

I would still like to meet you however, my ship is currently moored at Freeport 11 in Omicron-Delta. Does this sound acceptable? Please reply if so and we will work out a time.

Greetings Jack Denton,

I represent the Liberty Navy Research and Development Wing known as the Corona Battlegroup and I will like to notify you that we might be interested in collaborating in your research. One of our goals is to study and analyse the Nomad threat and this might help with that goal. Now before I list what the Corona Battlegroup can provide to your expedition I feel I must lay down a few things that is required for our services. First, you may not enlist the help of any Order Vessel or we will not join you, we will not associate with terrorists. Second, you must allow us to send our own research vessel with you, it will be a Prison Liner class vessel refitted for research purposes, or if we are not able to send one you must disclose any discoveries you uncover during the expedition with us.

Now onto to what me can provide you, if everything goes as planned we can definitely provide you with 1-3 Liberty Gunboats and possibly several Fighter/Bomber escorts. However there is a chance we may be able to also provide up to 2 Liberty Assault Battlecruisers and 1 Liberty Assault Carrier if we are able to negotiate passage rights through Kusari Space and Omicron - 74. As mentioned earlier we may also bring along our own science vessel to conduct our own tests. If you are interested in the offer please let us know as soon as possible so we can contact the Kusari Government and the Omicroners as soon as possible.
