As an example you can watch for some VIDs in this page. An that is not the only example, you can hear a FL soundtrack fragments pretty often on russian TV, mostly in "documental" programs about 2012, Nazy flying saucers in Antarctica, aliens from other dimensions etc. This shows incompetence and lack of professionalism in Russian journalism, and I think Microsoft should punish them all.

But it's generally cheaper to buy the rights to use certain peices of music. The BBC seemed to absolutely fall in love with some songs by Sigur Ros recently, and clearly bought a BBC wide licence to use their music as much as they wanted.
Might be interesting to find out who actually owns the copyright on FL's soundtrack, because it might not be microsoft or DA, but instead the composer, or some representative of the composer...

I've heard lots of tracks from various games on local TV, I doubt they give a rat's ass about copyrights. Like who's gonna sue them if barely anyone watches their programs.

I heard soundtracks from other games on Ukrainian TV too. Caesar III and its Egyptian version (Pharaon and Cleopatra, or smth alike).

Game music is gets played a lot in my game shop, unsure about the legality, but my mate just jacks in his iPod and everyone seems to enjoy it.
Then again he is a DJ, so he must be using public license tracks.

But anyway, if the thing that shows you the lack of professionalism and whatnot is freelancer music in programs about flying saucers and 2012, not the programs themselves, that's quite worrying. They should be all shot, however, that's right, but it's not something for microsoft to do, and not because of music choices.
