Guten Tag, meine Damen und Herren.

I have troubling news from the Omega 7 zone, I fear.

Two incidents, the first one irritating but not dangerous, the second one troubling and dangerous.

Mr. Henderson, a Defence pilot in a Nyx was called via system comms to the northern Cobalt field. He responded to defuse a problematic situation. This is the audio log. Visual logs are available if needed.

Quote:IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: Who is a problem? And why? The vessel sovtrans?
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: He is
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: Can you name a reason? He seems reasonably calm, peaceful and mining in the northern part
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: He doesnt tell where will he head, and will he mining Cooper
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: He is mining Cobalt. And IMG cobalt goes to INgolstadt.
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: That's what he's doing now
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: As he only fields mining lasers, he is no threat. to no one.
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: He had over 2000 units of copper when we first saw him
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: It's no crime to have copper ore.
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: But if he brings them to places that we dont want
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: But seems like there is no threat now
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: Sean is right
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: So... if you have evidence that he is taking it to a place you don't want... present it.
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: If you don't have that evidence, I suggest you let the man alone.
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: I will look for it from the log
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: This isn't the first IMG we've caught with copper
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: Let's leave him alone
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: It's not illegal to mine Copper.

Then the Kruger miner restricts IMG from mining commodities in the northern fields, something that runs against all agreements that were made after the Omega 7 conflict and its peaceful resolution.

Quote:Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: And while we're happy to let you mine, if we say not copper, then you bloody well don't touch copper in these fields
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: You cannot order IMG anything, Sir.
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: If... then the German Bundestag can call us.
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: But not a Kruger miner... some... Kruger miner.
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: If you want to do politics, bring a politician.

I was not aware that Kruger now starts to claim the north, after Daumann claimed the south of Omega 7. This is far from what the cease fire premises were, I fear. If that was just a miner that lost his temper, I could just forget it. But a Rheinland Military Commander stating the following makes me think the problem runs deeper:

Quote:[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: It's our cooper
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: We cant let them to take it out

I am not aware that Rheinland put a ban on the mining of Copper. IMG| has ceased copper mining as two of the main selling points that make sense are in Liberty (Houston) or Bretonia (Newgate) and thus not accessible at a time of war. We understand that. And respect the laws and agreements, something I cannot say for the Reichsmarine and the Kruger.

Then a Kruger| miner told a Merc callsign "Fahrenheit" to attack an IMG| Defense ship in the north of Omega 7. A present RM| vessel watched, took notice of the attack, joked about it and flew away.

Quote:Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit: Aye?
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: While Kruger command will not honour the destruction of an IMG vessel
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: I will, double bounty, go get em
Fahrenheit: Aye aye
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: Really?
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: Police? Do you accept that?
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Perhaps now you'll feel what we have from you.
Fahrenheit: He can't see anything
Fahrenheit: Can you Von?
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: What?
Fahrenheit: See?
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Of course, you culdn't survive a direct Nova torpedo that kills half the crew
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: I couldnt hear you
Fahrenheit: hes blind as crap
IMG|Sean.Henderson.[D]: RM, I am being shot at by Fahrenheit, as the Kruger bountied me
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: See, see what? i dont know what are you talking about
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Stauffenberg, would you like to grab a drink at Elbich?
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: Love to
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Once this load is done, we'll catch up to you
[RM]Fl.Von.Stauffenberg: I'm heading to Elbich

I have the following questions:
  • What did the Kruger pilot mean when he "doubled the bounty"? Does Kruger have a bounty against IMG?
  • Is the Kruger pilot's behaviour acceptable for the Kruger company?
  • Is the Reichsmarine pilot's performance acceptable measured against the RM rules of engagement?
The IMG pilot's prudent defensive reaction (not fighting back, not attacking the miner who ordered him to be shot at but retreating to Freistadt) might have saved Omega 7 from another unwanted regional conflict.

IMG forces in Omega 7 have been instructed to remain calm. We will however hunt the vessel Fahrenheit as it is a threat to IMG mining operations as proven in more than today's incident.

We trust in the Rheinland Bundestag, the Rheinland Military Oberkommando and the Kruger Leadership to sort this out and to remind their personnel that ceasfire, peace and coexistence depends on the actions of a few, as well as on the actions of politicians. I hope that reminder to these hazardeurs comes soon as it's only a question of time until actions like these presented above lead to a breach of the cease fire in Omega 7.

I will make sure that IMG are not the first ones to open fire in any case. But we will have to defend ourselves if attacked.

Yours sincerely

Samuel Degenhardt
IMG Guildmaster

Okay, I am FURIOUS right now. The Apollyon is totalled, and my crew escape pods barely made it to Freistadt in one piece. What the hell kind of clown show is the Rheinwehr running these days? Are you guys PURPOSEFULLY trying to push us to an alliance with Bretonia?

Here we are, trying to settle a disturbance with words, officially asking your cruiser Sharnhorst to take a Kruger employee that in his presence has admitted using a mercenary to attack Guild civilian miners, and in response we get attacked by the lot of them? I am a HAIRS breadth away from signing up with the Bret Privateers and inviting them over for a nice cup of tea on Freistadt followed by a royal wasting of Rheinland's main mining operation. Pity I don't have the authority to, but I reckon a LOT of the lads feel the same way right now.

If Rheinland decides to commit open acts of war on the Guild, don't expect us to just sit there and take it with our pants down. We've thus far taken no sides in the conflicts between your house and the various other houses. But that can change quickly like this.

An update and it doesn't get prettier, I sadly have to say.

IMG vessels went to intercept the Kruger Hegemon Offenbach, not to attack him, but to find out what had happened.

In the ensuing conversation, the pilot openly admitted to his crimes and showed no remorse or regret.

Quote:Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: I set a merc on you, and I'll do it again should I need to

Quote:IMG|Patrol.Ship.Two[D]: Hm, just got rumors that this Kruger killed some more IMG ships shortly before our arrival
IMG|Apollyon: Attacked two, yes. I met them on my way here, they're headed to Dublin now.
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: And here I was hoping that wouldn't come up...
IMG|Apollyon: Danny: Why is that?
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: The little smart arse thought he could ignore us. he was wrong
IMG|Patrol.Ship.Two[D]: Ignoring you means... that one is shot at and destroyed?

IMG pilots tried to talk to the Commander of Scharnhorst, a Rheinland Cruiser that had been present when the Kruger Commander confessed the crimes mentioned above.

Quote:IMG|Apollyon: Danny: Vessel Sharnhorst, the IMG formally requests that this Kruger employee be taken into custody on charges of piracy.

His response was aggravating as the action of the Reichsmarine Commander in the first incident:

Quote:Scharnhorst: And I have received no indisputable proof of this miners actions, so I can't act on it.
IMG|Apollyon: Danny: No, we -request- that -you- bring him in on charges of piracy, sir.
IMG|Apollyon: Charges he has pretty much admitted to.
IMG|Patrol.Ship.Two[D]: Why? He admitted using a Merc to attack IMG. He admitted to attacking IMG ships and destyoing them right in front of your bridge.
Scharnhorst: I haven't seen anything like that. All the times I have been here, I have only seen Mr. Offenbach aiding in the defence of rheinland by stopping copper trade to liberty, depriving it of vital resources.
Scharnhorst: Rugen: Anyways, I trust you guys will not go at each others throats. [he leaves]

Again a Navy Commander took the side of the criminals. This time, the criminal admitted his guilt right in the face of the Navy commander, who just denied everything, walked away and returned later to open fire on IMG.

After that, Mr. Fahrenheit turned up in his stolen IMG Hydra. IMG went to intercept and hunt him down for his crimes. The Rheinland cruiser Scharnhorst engaged IMG, as did the Offenbach. IMG never fired a shot on anything but the Hydra callsign Fahrenheit. All IMG ships were damaged or destroyed.

Offenbach again claimed that the criminal works for Kruger.
And Scharnhorst took the side of the criminals that had confessed their deeds just minutes before.

Quote:Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: [IMG is] Attacking an employee of Kruger
Kruger|Offenbach: Darwin: Fahrenheit, you can expect the Offenbach to assist in any way
IMG|Apollyon: Kruger vessel, do not get involved in this. It's the merc we want.
IMG|Apollyon: Destroy that rogue Hydra, ignore the miner.
Scharnhorst: Everybody! Seize fire!
Scharnhorst: Ill give you one more chance img.
IMG|Patrol.Ship.Two[D]: Sir! The Cruiser is firing on us

I will tell you the truth: I am the only Guildmaster that is calling for moderation. There are voices that call for drastic measures after this affront.

I am still willing to talk, but it's Rheinland that needs to come up with good explanations on what has been played during that last weeks.

I state once more that it's not the IMG's intention to fight another conflict in the Omegas, but as you can easily see, there is not much that can be done to avoid violence if Rheinlanders behave as they did today.

Guten tag Guildmasters,

It appears there has been some confusion in Omega 7. The Bundestag called an emergency meeting to discuss these developments, and will most likely form a tribunal to investigate.

I urge all parties involved to not do anything rash or provocative. Our hope is that this can be sorted out without further loss of life. We will take a very dim view on parties escalating this conflict.

Guten tag,

These events are indeed worrying, further conflict is not in the interests of Kruger. After reviewing the evidence given and personally talking to the captain of the Offenbach, I can confidently say that Mr. Darwin was not acting on behalf of Kruger. Further more, Mr. Darwin will be [color=#CC0000]suspended from mining operations
until this issue is resolved completely. I believe Mr. Darwin has some underlying anger against the IMG. The Offenbach was in fact the first Kruger vessel to be attacked by the IMG.

And while it may seem all the blame lies with Mr. Darwin and his actions. I would like an explanation as to why 2 gunboats and a bomber then confronted the Offenbach while it was alone. Along with your threats, one could question what it is the IMG ultimately wants. As I said, Kruger does not want further conflict, but don't think I will simply sit here in my office and allow you to attack Kruger vessels.

Subject: Force strength

You want to know why that small strikeforce came out there? Sure, it might have seem intimidating to your employee. A show of force, to let him know that it was not in his best interest to try and push us around. Sometimes, a show of strength is all it takes. Contrary to your employee, Guild assets were strictly forbidden from engaging civilian vessels. Despite mr. Darwin's attempts to incite us to do so, see my previous transcript. But that wasn't the reason why we showed up in force. We don't go out killing working folk.

The real reason why we showed up in force is to engage and forcefully decomission the vessel "Fahrenheit", a rogue Hydra class gunboat that has cause the Guild more then one headache. The vessel is considered stolen. I'll assume that mr. Darwin's claim that this vessel was in the employ of Kruger was also a false claim? If not I suggest you reconsider your allegiances with that cur. We intend to ensure that after it's destruction, which frankly, was only delayed by the Sharnhorst's actions, it will not be rebuilt.

I'd like to point out that while we were fired on by both the Kruger miner, as well as the Rheinwehr cruiser, we returned fire on neither party, focussing on the rogue Hydra instead. Still, I'd advise your naval intelligence service to review the Sharnhorst actions. We've had all kind of unusual behaviour by vessels of Rheinwehr make in Omega 7 of late which they're already aware of. Perhaps this is yet another such incident.

Also, an apology for my rather hotheaded earlier message, but at the time, I was seething. The reasons for which, I hope you understand.

Incidentally, is there any truth to his claim that hauling copper ore is illegal? If so the RFP might want to inform Daumann of this, they tend to mine a lot of it, even in the north fields. To my best information, it's only legal to export it out to house Kusari or the local Rheinland market, I'm not quite sure why your man was so insistent that the Guild supplies Liberty with the resource. We don't make a habit of running blockades. We're not junkers.

Guten morgen, Degenhardt and Sutherland.

What happened in Omega 7, as reported from you, is unacceptable. My deepest apologies.

The Bundestag itself declared that all hostilities against Independent Miner Guild ships had to cease.

And the Law of Rheinland surely doesn't say anything about regulations on Copper ore in the Omega 7 fields.

As for Flieger Von.Stauffenberg, this is indeed one of the worse things he could have done. In a system in which he didn't have permission to go even. The Oberkommando will deal with him immediatly, and an internal investigation will be created to judge and analyze the actions of the Commander of the Scharnhorst.

Regarding the mercenary pilot, from your own messages, it looks to me that the IMG gunboat was stolen time ago. Why Rheinland was not informed about such a theft?

Signed,

Admiral Ludwig Meyer,

Subject: Rogue hydra

The gunboat was listed as "missing" until a few weeks ago when we got a headsup from the Liberty Navy that the vessel had been spotted running amok in Magellan and had run afoul of a patrol of theirs. It's not unusual for Guild vessels to go off the grid for a while, especially on deep space recon. Sending no signals draws no attention after all. We didn't think to need to inform the Rheinwehr of people giving Liberty a headache outside of your operational area.
We only caught up with it recently, when it surfaced in Omega 7 as a mercenary, attacking our own. It's recent actions made it -blatantly- clear that it is not acting in step with Guild regulations, which forbid attacks on civilian vessels except in selfdefense, or those involved in any slaving trade.

As for why we didn't inform you, we tried. We tried to contact Rheinwehr forces in Omega 7 and Stuttgart during our search, but were unable to find any. We informed Sharnhorst when it arrived, for all the good that did.

As far as I'm concerned, the Sharnhorst commander and your flieger are yours to deal with. I'll assume the Rheinland legal system will handle that Kruger employee. A shipment of engine components to Aland wouldn't hurt either, to make repairs to the vessels that were damaged by Fahrenheit's actions on behalf of mr Darwin. Come to think of it, he claimed to be Bretonian, that man. Makes you wonder if he truly has Rheinland's best interests at heart.

Dear Sirs and Madams,

I am relieved to hear that neither Rheinwehr nor the Rheinland Bundestag nor Kruger Minerals are interested in another conflict that would not be in the best interest of all parties involved.

The IMG asks for reports on the outcomes of the internal investigations and the actions ultimatively taken. This would help to convince angry IMG miners that the appropriate measures are taken and that consequences follow the crime and that thus no own actions need to be taken.

The orders not to cause any incidents have been retransmitted to all IMG vessels in Omega 7, so we can rightfully claim that we do everything that can be done to keep the situation from excalating. I therefore trust Rheinland to do the same.

Trust in Rheinland's will to solve this situation without the need of IMG to mobilize military forces comes at a price, though.

The price is Rheinland taking stern actions against Mr. Fahrenheit.

We request from Kruger Mineralien that all vessels callsigned "Fahrenheit" are expelled from working for the company and put on the list of wanted criminals for inciting hate and violence between Rheinland and IMG which could have ultimately lead to an armed conflict. He is furthermore guilty of technology theft and multiple attacks against civilians, which means attempted homicide and homicide. We request his docking permissions at Kruger bases to be revoked together with all business ties that used to exist.

We ask the Rheinwehr and Rheinland Police forces to add Fahrenheit to their criminal databank and assist the IMG in the apprehension and/or destruction of the criminal flying different ships callsigned "Fahrenheit". Reason: he is a threat to Rheinland's relations with IMG and one of the sources of the incidents. The IMG is willing to let Mr. Fahrenheit face Rheinland's justice if we capture him alive.

Thank you very much for your swift response in this urgent matter. I appreciate the stance taken by all parties involved and I can only renew the pledge that the IMG has no intention to escalate the situation.

Yours sincerely
