Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Knjaz - 08-01-2011 ' Wrote:<<skipped>> ' Wrote:Hm, afaik I'm the only one who used it (and started to do it just few days ago when I had to fight a gunboat with slowly turning cruiser turrets on the Order char, it just didn't come to my mind before), and as far as I noticed my speed wasn't higher then the moment before I bounced, it was actually lower. (Since I initiate EK before hitting the asteroid, not like with the ship ramming when you initiate EK during the ram) ' Wrote:It actually is the place to discuss that. You're abusing game mechanics, which shines a bad light on the EDGE. Don't do it. I kinda don't agree with abovementioned statement, especially. Would like to see some clarification, as is it really an abuse of game mechanics under these conditions: --bouncing is being made only from stationary objects, like asteroids, stations, trade lanes, etc. --after bounce speed is always lower then the ship speed before the bounce. --all it gives you is to change the vector of your movement. I don't see how that would be considered a bad form in current FL game engine / gameplay model. If I'm wrong, please tell me how and why exactly I'm wrong. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Grumblesaur - 08-01-2011 Do we really even need to discuss this? Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - SnakThree - 08-01-2011 I'd call it abuse. And being a jerk. I hated when people done that intentionally to gain PvP advantage. It's poor form. Same as sun diving. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Cannon - 08-01-2011 It's abuse. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Daedric - 08-01-2011 Cannon ninja. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Death.RunningVerminator - 08-01-2011 Someone report me then because every time I'm being chased into the badlands i absolutely garuntee you i'm gonna be bouncing and thus decreasing the rate of which those whom are hostile are shooting at me and in turn lower my odds of being defeated. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - AeternusDoleo - 08-01-2011 Meh. As far as abuse goes, EKing into roids is a low one. As long as you are in EK, you have NO steering whatsoever, so you're very vulnerable to SNACs and mortarfire. It's at best an anti-fighter tactic for caps, to use when faced with a mass-fighter assault with no bomber support on capital vessels. Intentionally going in a PvP match with >20% lag on a tiny fighter that then jumps all over the place is as much abuse of game mechanics as that, but seems to be commonplace among "aces". How about booting any player with >5% loss or >20% lag to prevent that? I was always ranting around lags and abuse, it is funny how when you start a fight player A have no lag at all, then when A starts to loose it he has 15-20% and it is impossible to be hit. I found the way how to abuse it too but I does not use it, it is funny how with 2 things someone who sux in PvP can be brutal- lag abuse and chain-fire abuse.. And from the other side are a lot of players with poor connections or some who are far away from the server and if any anti-lag measures are taken it will hit them on very unfair way. The same as the bumping- you cannot prove it if you does not film every encounter in game....... So I guess we just need to play the game and be ignorant to such acts. Edit: SnaK3 yes but to have ready fraps or other sort of software every time when you play the game because someone can abuse something... and then formatting the video, uploading it in you tube reporting- it is a way too much hassle for something that cannot be fixed anyway. Not each and every encounter. Bouncing from stationary objects in pvp. - Ayem - 08-01-2011 Moving asteroids please, with crushing damage. Until then I'm going to continue to bounce off asteroids accidentally while I'm looking the wrong way in my Destroyer to shoot bombers off my tail. |
