What are your current characters? What are their general roleplay-backgrounds?

If you work from the basics, you can flesh out and make them stories. I haven't currently made posts on the RP topics yet, but I have some concepts and ideas in my personal Discovery notebook for most of my characters. I find its easier to write down your ideas and brainstorm what your character could become.

Sorry if that appeared to be a bit vague, perhaps some experienced RPers could also post here?

X-lancer, first thing, and I know I'm annoying, but could you do a grammar check in word, for instance, before posting? some of your sentences doesnt hold together.

Now, some critics,
pretty much like what I said to vape, it is not very detailed. for the moment, you have a very general introduction, you didnt even presented your captain, and you didnt even explained the unconventional name your ship has: why is it "mini-angel", instead of an american/canadian place? this is unusual and requires explanation obviously. For the moment, I as a reader feels I am left in the dark as for the introduction, while your other posts seems more like a tale of your pvp matters. I see you tried something with nomads, but again, not much description, it has a serious lack of details.

hope it helps, and good going, first time I see you write role play!

It's an action based story, no?
if so,
begin with a series of events, a rough outline.
Then flesh it out.
Talk to me on skype, I can give you particulars.
Kindof hard to do here, because I have no particulars.

2 Questions.

1) Is the story plot driven or character driven? or is it both?

2) Is your character the embodiment of achievement? A scarred warrior? An epitome with a dark past or secrets? A seemingly virtuous figurehead who is actually a deeply involved manipulator?

Think about these things, then write up a character dossier by answering these questions:

- The character's name
- A one-sentence summary of the character's storyline
- The character's motivation (what does he/she want abstractly?/What drives him or her?)
- The character's goal (what does he/she want concretely?)
- The character's conflict (what prevents him/her from reaching this goal?)
- The character's epiphany (what will he/she learn, how will he/she change?
- A one-paragraph summary of the character's storyline

Quote:- The character's name
- A one-sentence summary of the character's storyline
- The character's motivation (what does he/she want abstractly?/What drives him or her?)
- The character's goal (what does he/she want concretely?)
- The character's conflict (what prevents him/her from reaching this goal?)
- The character's epiphany (what will he/she learn, how will he/she change?
- A one-paragraph summary of the character's storyline
note that that works for one event, but each event in the character's life will need a new one, affected by the preceding ones.

Well, unless the character has a long term goal that you make very difficult to attain.

For instance, your character may aspire to one day be Fleet Admiral, but is very far behind in the line. This allows your character's motivations and long term goals to affect his decisions when it comes to short term/immediate decisions and problems.

Try writing a sumary of your characters biography. Birthplace, parents, status in community, main traits (I started with "good guy"). It gives something to evolve from. Characters backround also gives him certain traits.

Different characters evolve in a different way in certain enviroment.

For example Simon Black was born and lived in Omega 7 for a long time. Now, a lot of Hessian and Corsair skirmishes happen in the place, neutral side is the one that suffers the most. Hence, parents wouldn't let him out of station, so Simon would feel a little isolated. Therefore he got himself "shy" trait. He also would want something he cannot have, for example to fly space. Hence he got himself a "wannabe pilot" trait. And so on.

Different characters react differently to certain events.

For example after Simon fell in love with a pirate he got expelled from Federal Police. Lawful factions became distrusful about Simon, but Simon didn't join any unlawful faction, though he could, because he has a trait of "good guy" and an idealist in general. Lawfuls didnt trust him and he doesnt like unlawfuls, so the only faction for him to join was Bounty Hunters Guild (a lot of people wih suspicious backround there).

Usually only ex pirates join the Bounty Hunters, but this character evolved due to recent events and got himself a very unique new trait of "Non-pirate Bounty Hunter". Which is quite interesting. Just think how would ex-pirates treat an ex-cop... Bump! Another trait! Hes unliked by his colleagues. If you'd dig deeper, you would find even more.

You pretty much take one very random character and just observe how he reacts to things that happen to him. Plot and character evolves in the story.
