Solar Engineering S.A. was formed by several young economists and lawyers on New Paris on January 1st, 500 AGS. The company aimed to become an alternative space construction supplier in Gallic space, something that was considered virtually impossible in the Gallic space industry market that was controlled by the government and large corporations. Solar succeeded in getting the much-needed connections with the Royal Navy, which secured several high-profile construction contracts that helped to build the strong foundation for the company. The company played a significant but not yet fully determined role in the final stages of the First Gallic War when some of the corporate representatives were spotted at negotiations with Normandy leaders, disguised as unrelated civilians. After the First Gallic War was over, the company started as a contracted builder of civilian space stations ordered by various parties. Today it also operates a large number of its own space stations, making it one of the most versatile space-based companies in Gallia, in some ways similar to EFL Oil and Machinery.

Solar Engineering appears to have unexpected insider sources of information within groups that won't usually affiliate themselves with any corporations. For example, in 686 AGS Solar announced the suspension of all its operations in Gallic Border Worlds. In less than 30 years, the Second Gallic War caused huge losses for all shippers and station operators working in the area. Solar used this situation for its own benefit, broadening its services around other Gallic systems. Still, Solar is significantly smaller than other large space-based corporations, mostly due to the much smaller size of its land-based operations. Total enterprise value of the corporation is over 8 times less than EFL, 5 times less than the value of GMS, and half the value of IDF Shipping.

Given that there isn'€™t actually a Solar Engineering ID yet, we'€™ve had to do a little improvising. Solar has very little presence in the Gallic Borderworlds according to lore, so we'€™ve implemented some regulation to reflect a sufficiently small infrastructure. We generally spend our time zooming back and forth through the Borderworlds on Independent Trader ID'€™d Aurochs freighters, not making much in the way of coin but always keeping our eye out for the angle. We know how Gallia works. GRP? Grab your wallet. Council? Offer some wine. GMS, IDF, and EFL? Smile and wave. GRN? Pretend we didn'€™t give the Council that wine from earlier. The twist? You won'€™t find us outside of Gallia. Not even a kilometer. We'€™re just a little courier service between here and there in the more cultured part of space. Knowing any more will be knowing too much, oui?

Allies
  • Gallic Royal Police - Say what you like, they buy things for their overcompensation-stations. And we like money.

  • Gallic Royal Navy - We build stuff for them. They don'€™t guillotine us. A great basis for a working relationship!

  • Gallic Corps - Competition makes money. They'€™ll all be bought out soon. Don'€™t bother helping out against pirates.
Neutral
  • Council - Nice guys. Whole overthrowing-the-crown thing'€™s a shame, though. We won'€™t miss them very much.

  • Sirians who like cheese - They will assimilate well.

  • Junkers - They have their uses. I'€™ve got one that makes for a nice coffee table.
Hostile
  • Brigands - Relatively jovial bunch. The whole robbing us and fooling with our wives bit is unpleasant, though.

  • Maquis - Prone to blowing up our favorite cafés to '€œmake a point.'€ Ought to blow themselves all up at once.

  • Sirians who don'€™t like cheese - They will assimilate poorly. Truly undeserving of pity, only derisive scoffs.

Ships
  • [color=#33FFFF]Aurochs - MCU-1 Gallic Freighter - As far as you know, we made this. We like our own technology, obviously.

  • Moonbeam - UX-256 Gallic Civilian Light Fighter - Cannon fodder.

  • Sunbeam - UY-258 Gallic Civilian Heavy Fighter - Cannon fodder with cannons of its own.

  • Satsuma - Kusari Imperial Yacht - For <strike>soon-to-be obvious reasons</strike> trading.

Weapons
  • [color=#663300]Gallic Civilian Liqueur - Plasma-flavored, we share it with everyone)

  • French Navy Baguettes

  • Ze French Advance

  • Super-classy individuals - You aren'€™t one.

  • People that get paid in wine and onion soup - You probably can'€™t be one.

  • Peasant-folk - a.k.a. Sirians. We don'€™t employ them. Just snort derisively if we see them. (Which shouldn'€™t happen.)

Ah, noted. Thanks very much for that.

Solar Engineering - Daedric - 08-11-2011

Is SE aware of Ze Arch?

Solar Engineering - Petitioner - 08-11-2011

Several of the executives do follow Archism, oui.

Solar Engineering - Daedric - 08-11-2011

SE earns Jean Pierre LeBlanc's rubber stamp of approval!

Solar Engineering - fencore - 08-11-2011

What Gallic in their right mind doesn't love Ze Arch?

We should have fun with this roleplay. I don't think it'll quite be like the other Gallic corps.

Very cool. Is this your first 'solar engineering' post though? Or have you guys like RPed stories about it or something? 'Cause it's pretty 'n all, but it needs meat.
