Metzger Subject: Filtration device Encryption: Strong Dr. Metzger, The use of high-powered electromagnetic fields instead of physical filters was not something I had considered to be feasable. Impressive, and it definately shows potential in terms of continuous operation and low maintenance. I do have a few questions about your design. Has it been prototyped, or are the images you have provided of a mock-up of a proposed prototype? What is the size of the model you've provided? There is no ruler on the images, although the skidmarks on the ground suggest it's no more then two meters in length. Should the capacity be insufficient, how well does a filter of this design scale, when upsizing? Can the size be easily doubled, or quadrupled, and how will scaling affect efficiency and energy requirements? Speaking of which, what -are- the energy requirements of the proposed filters? How does this filter deal with other naturally occurring anions and cations, such as plain old water for instance? What is the projected purification efficiency of this filter. IE what percentage of toxin can it remove from the air entering it's filtration system? Your talk of using the recovered toxins for chemical weapons suggest your field was previously chemical weapons research. If the chemicals can be recovered however, we'll most likely want to reuse them for their primary civilian purpose. Cyanide is used in several of our refining processes - primarily Bauxite to Aluminium and Gallium refining. But the primary function of the filter is air purification. As long as it performs that task, any benefit derived from salvaging the removed toxins is just icing on the cake. You definately have my interest. I am willing to invest in a prototype if you have not yet made one, to see if it performs to specifications. Graphics in the data sheet are just... graphics. Your guess ist quite accurate. The prototype ist about 2.5 meters long. I will ask one of my assistants to give me particular dimentions. Scaling is a pretty simple matter - we could build a Gerät of dimientions from half of the prototype up to 4 times bigger. But the size of prototype ist the most energy efficient. The prototype's efficiency is as follows: [LINK] As you can see, the efficiency drops down when anion concentration raises. For concentration below 20% the efficiency is quite high. There is a possibility of filtering highly contaminated air though. It would only require adding some clean gas to contaminated air on filter unit intake. Scaling of this solution can be achieved by connecting filter units in-line or parallel depending on needs. With adequate usage of valves, one can achieve automatically scalable system. Maximal power consumption of our prototype is a bit less than one standard solar panel output. Die Filtereinheit does not filter cations nor neutral molecules. Electro-osmotic membranes will only allow molecules of certain size to be sucked by vacuum system. Molecules of smaller sizes will be sucked aswell but most of those will be pushed back. High pressure tank can be removed und high pressure pipeline system can be attached that would allow recovery of chemicals. This would require some more filtration probably but it can be easily achieved by distillation or some similar processes. Und well... Chemical and biological weapons... That indefinate scaling isn't possible is regrettable, but I suppose having multiple filters in a parallel setup as you suggested should help with that. I'm not particulary worried with concentrations being so high that the filter efficiency would be compromised. Concentrations that high can be reduced by simply washing the bulk of the contaminants out of the atmosphere with a traditional water curtain, or diluted by flushing cleaner air into the filter intakes. But I suspect situations where a saturation rate of over 20% is present will be frequent - and when such a highly contaminated atmosphere is present, it'd likely be more efficient to vent the contaminated atmosphere into space.
