Something fishy going on with the server? 3 times in the past 2 days i've been disconnected, and unable to reconnect for a minimum of half an hour later. I'll buy that occasionally the server needs to be restarted when noone's on... but 2 of the 3 times there were at least 4 people in.

Yes, I've just experienced that myself. Server is still showing in the global list but cannot reconnect. Strange.

The server is hanging. A probable reason is that not all players have the patch that I've done for version 4.74. Infortunately I cannot force everyone to get it before 4.75, for which (I hope) no patch will be required.

I'll investigate the server logs in more detail.

If someone does not have the patch, they won't even be able to select the server in the global list. It only lets people in with the same version tag as the server. And in the case of a partial patch, they would be kicked out within 2 minutes if even one byte of one of thier .ini files didn't match the ones the server ran. I had that trouble back when i first joined and had .ini files that had been previously modified by other mods. Kept getting booted out until i wiped my data folders and copied a fresh set from the disk.

Yes I know that. I was talking about the small patch.
This is a complicated matter because not all ini files are actually checked, and moreover the brief period while they are not kicked is enough to cause trouble.

I just experianced a whole new crash. Was in the middle of a tradelane and my client exited right to the desktop in 1/100th of a second. No warning, no increased HDD activity, no error message, just instant untraceable crashing. It's not even recorded as an event in the crash log. The process is gone from the task list and everything. Tried a ocuple times to reconnect but the server seems to be hanging.

I was talking to someone whose name resembled executor or executioner or the like at the time... if he/she reads the forums would he/she mind posting if the same thing happened?

Server Instability - Igiss - 07-27-2005

Right now the server is OK and 3 other people are playing there. Where it happened? Geographically?

Server Instability - f2k - 07-27-2005

I dont know if its related to those problems. But since I started playing on the Discovery server, my computer has restarted unexpectedly several times.

It always happens when I exit a jumpgate, just as the widescreen mode is beginning to switch off and the player HUD comes on-line again. Theres no warning, no mem-dump, no nothing. Just a clean reboot

Im not sure whether or not its those pesky nVidia drivers playing up again, or if its something to do with the server

Am I the only one not experiencing any problems with the server? 0.o

As for those unexpected restarts, this might be of some use to you...
