Into the Abyss - T.A.L.O.S. - 09-10-2011

The AI-Command Center was quiet, the night-shift just having left and the morning technical crew just arriving, In the center of the room a large hologram of a distorted face is seen, hinting of masculine features and cold life-less eyes staring out at the workers as they started to perform diagnostics checks on all systems within the facility.

To one side of the room was a specific experiment running, a Nomad Artifact was currently hooked up to a large machine, powered by a small spherical Power Cell which had a faint glow to it. The screens were currently displaying information being retrieved and decrypted by TALOS, the Artificial Intelligence that ran the facility and other assets within the Coalition. As it came across a peculiar segment of information TALOS paused, it's attention caught by the strange string of alien commands that started to activate as it focused upon it.

Curiosity turned to confusion as the segment suddenly broke off from the main data-stream and entered the TALOS Mainframe, it's own code starting to rapidly take over the Artificial Intelligence's AI Core. In the Command Center the hologram started to flicker violently, causing the crews to pause their activities and look towards the AI's avatar. Suddenly the flickers stopped and the Avatar stared directly at them. It's voice when it spoke was cold and distorted.

"Hostile Forces detected in the Base, Initiating Counter-Insurgency Measures." It stated in a simple matter, hidden panels in the roof opened up and lowered Defense Turrets which quickly took aim at the now panicking Technicians and started to cut them down.

All across the base similar events occured, Warbots activated on their own and started to brutally slaughter the staff while the Infected TALOS locked down the facility, preventing escape from the slaughter.

Within a mere matter of minutes all was silent once more. Bodies torn to shreds by weapons-fire lined the corridors and rooms of the facility, bathing the facility in a new paint of crimson blood. The AI, observing through Security Cameras watched with satisfaction as it calmly observed the lifeless base.

***UPLINK LOST***

The Commandant was busy looking at reports on the latest batch of recruits which had passed the muster of Commissar's Kurkov and Mendal. The frizting screen had replaced the latest data reports from Gallia which were being decrypted. Ling had not wanted to come back to Gorodok, but with the initial Gallic attack blunted, and with the Gallic's busying themselves attacking higher priority targets in Bretonia and Kusari - He had fallen back to deal with more pressing matters on the home front.

"Odd."

He keyed in a command on his console. The screen was still displaying rubbish data and distorting irregularities. Lightly annoyed, he sat down the papers and walked next door to his personal operations centre - Deep within the Moon Base.

"Computer glitch?"
"Seems so" - Replied a Junior Officer

Ling looked at the screen and raised an eyebrow. Quietly and calmly he pulled out a control module from his pocket. No bigger than an Old Earth Smartphone, it held certain secret command functions which were available to him. Looking at it, he then placed it back in his pocket.

"Get it back please."

Ling walked back to his room and picked the reports back up again. Completely oblivious and unknowing to what was happening.

Into the Abyss - T.A.L.O.S. - 09-11-2011

The Infected AI detected attempts to access the mainframe through the outbound data-streams, ruthlessly it cut off access for all Coalition assets outside the facility aside from the TALOS Gunboat series. The T Units, they started to receive new orders, one by one Gunboats shifted from their patrol paths and made a beeline towards the Havana, at their present speed they would arrive at it's location within two hours.

Throughout the facility the defenses powered down as no hostile targets remained that could threaten the integrity of either the AI Core or the facility itself, Warbots shut down where they stood while the turrets retracted back into the walls. TALOS started to sift through Coalition Records, searching for references to the 'Alien Threat' and local star-charts. The process took up much of it's attention but kept passive sensors scanning within the facility for intrusions.

----

Back on Gorodok every single console found itself cut off from the Coalition Database, several forgot to save their files frequently and lost hours worth of reports, complaints started to flood Commandant Ling's office, requesting that the High Command look into the disruption of vital Coalition assets...

"Uhhh... Commandant?"

Ling looked up from over the stack of papers at the young technician. An irrational state of fear had been swept over him, one which Ling had seen countless times before. The young man was terrified of the news he was bringing to him for one of two reasons. Anything he said may upset the Commandant and put his life in peril, or something terrible had happened which had put their lives in danger. He sat his side arm on the table and lent back in his chair, as open a gesture as he could make under the circumstances.

"Continue."
"Uhhh... We've... Well we don't know exactly what's happened, I mean it could just be the dish is out of alignme..."
"Spit it out."
"TALOS is down."
"I told you to get it back."
"We're trying but every uplink we try is being.. rejected."
"Excuse me?"
"We've lost control."

He immediately reached into his pocket and activated a series of commands in his personal data device. Nothing. His override commands were disabled. He mustered a smirk.

"Well, of course that wouldn't work hmm?"

Standing up, he headed to the Operations Centre once more. There were a few sheepish men and women avoiding his glare.

"What now?"
"TALOS operated gunboats have made a bee-line for the Havana."
"I thought you said, TALOS was down?"
"It's reading as...
"Listen to me carefully. I don't care if you have to send it via smoke signal, flare or flag - Warn the Havana. Then ready a small marine detail. Tell them to get down there and give me some more information."

Ling appeared frustrated by this set of events. He had argued that handing almost the entire SCRA mainframe to an AI to control, was a bad idea. The Commissars in all their wisdom had secured vital systems, however now being blind and without Long Range Communications - Ling didn't have enough information to tackle whatever he was up against.

Into the Abyss - T.A.L.O.S. - 09-11-2011

Within minutes a squad of Marines assembled in the Hanger of Gorodok, a squad of five Marines armed with Assault Rifles checked each-other's supplies, preparing for the drop. They were led by a close to middle-aged man, muscular and intimidating with a height of six feet he stood acouple inches over his subordinates. They were about to board a Gunboat that would shuttle them to the surface...Frankly he thought this mission was beneath him.

The man chuckled as the amusing thought of the Technicians only accidentally unplugged the AI which is why everything was acting weird, as the other Marines started to board he put out his Cigarette and climbed in after them.

The hatch shut behind him as he settled down into one of the seats, checking over his Rifle once more before feeling a jolt as the ship flew out of the hanger and out into the open space of Omega-52. He pulled on his helmet which covered the entirety of his head and cradled the rifle in his arms as the ship started to soar into JiangXi's upper atmosphere and towards one of the Radiated Zones where the facility was located. Checking his wrist-watch he nodded to himself while the Marine beside him started to fidget from nervousness, casting a bored glance at him he shook his head in annoyance...Bloody Nuggets...

Just as they approached the Factory where the Elevator leading to the primary facility was located the ship jolted violently, causing him to stumble forwards, out of his seat and hitting the floor roughly as the ship started to spin out of control. Looking towards the cockpit he could see flashes of green illuminating the morning sky and in time with each flash the ship jolted more.

Weapons-fire...The last thought he had before the ship exploded in mid-air was mind-numbing pain as his body was shredded with shrapnel from all directions...

"They've been shot down sir."

The Commandant stood there motionless for a few seconds. Dissecting what precious little information he had available to him. He looked down at a set of papers titled "TALOS Research". He picked them up and threw them in the general direction of the bin. Not-caring if he hit or missed his target, he turned to one of the comms officers.

"With our lines stretched against the Bretonian and Gallian fronts, we don't have that much to send down there. Recall Major Forge from The Den. The Colonials don't need him right now. And keep trying to warn General Rhade. I want a full detachment of whatever troops Major Forge can muster ready."

Another set of reports sat in front of him titled "SCRA Recruitment Procedures". He laughed.

"Also tell him to send in the Muppet Brigade. I'm sure he won't say no to cannon fodder and meat shields."

Jacob Forge was on The Den, putting a round of men through small fire training when the call came. The moment his acting XO Ivan told him, Forge was off and sprinting to the Barricade. He slid into the command chair.

"This is Major Forge, sitrep!"
"Comandante Ling has recalled you to Omega 52. TALOS facility has, been compromised. We have lost a Commando Team already and we have little to draw on with our forces spread on the fronts."
"What do I have?"
"Militisya,Sir."
"I want all available Militisya to rendevous at Zhukovksy ASAP. Also, status of the International?"
"She's going through prelimanry checks."
"If she's finishrd,by the time I arrive, she shall serve as my CIC. I want Villers waiting for me at Zhukovsky now. Status of active Coalition Assets?"
"Lachina is fine."
"Reading my mind again, eh Colin?"
"Of course sir."

Forge signed off and walked out.

"I want all available Coalition soldiers here NOW."

A team of five Commandos lumbered up. Forge sighed.

"Not enough. Mount up people; We have a vital piece of Coalition machinery to save."

Forge mounted his Storm and glanced back.

"Captain Ralleigh, take over."

Forge dropped into his command chair.

"Lieutenant Luka, take us home. And don't spare the horses."

The only sound in his ears was the heavy impact his military boots made against the metal grating as he ran, and his heavy breath, in line with his heartbeat. The rattle of his combat webbing, and the gentle sound of gunmetal against fabric seemed a million miles away. The cracking of stressed leather as his gloved hands wrapped tightly around his issued bullpup rifle, seemed more a feel then a noise. Even his own thoughts were just the echoing of the sounds.

With his breathing in control, he came to a halt in the hanger bay, standing to attention next to his comrades in the Militsiya, his rifle slung, and unloaded.

He let out a shudder - it was cold in the hangar bay. So close to space, the heat bled out - but it was cold everywhere. Whether in his bunk with blankets that were never thick enough, or in the cockpit of his fighter, despite always being covered with sweat - it was always cold.

Just coming off from a fresh patrol, Johannes had received a communique from command about the Militsiya being ordered to Zhukovksy station. His insurgent roared into the docking and hangar bays and set down in line with other ships of the same model lines. He pondered what this mission was going to be, as he was more of a pilot than ground infantry. His time in the Hessians, however, taught him to be prepared for all incidents.

He stepped carefully out of his vessel, sliding down the ladder from his cockpit and saw comrade Ketsu in line with the other Militsiya. He grinned to himself, then resolved to a stoic composure. He approached and fell in line with the others. His sidearm around his belt and his field rifle shouldered. He waited for the arrival of the mission lead.

Dasha was just in the hangar bay seting up her bomber when the order come in. She ran into her chambers and put on the suit that will protect her from radiations and from fire of the light guns. She didn't know what this is all about so she wanted to be ready.

She went to the armory and got her assaut rifle, ammo and some grenades along with her helmet fomr there. Then she went back in the docking bay and sit along with the other Militsiya thinking of what is going one.

She look around her and saw all the station personnel runing around and being agitated. She didn't spoke but she had a lot on her mind, like what is happening and why all peoples are in a hurry. She just stood there in line along with her thoughts awaiting for new orders.
