What takes priority? - Heartless - 03-02-2008 So obviously we have little numb-nuts flying around with the ID of one faction, Tag of another, and Ship of yet another. So I really need to know. What takes priority? You see, sitting in Minor in my Bs| guys and seeing BHG tagged guys with a freelancer ID flying something else really is tempting. I guess I can safely assume that ship class is last, although it should be important what you fly in regards to your rp. That leaves ID and Tag. I think ID has more importance, but in what cases can we blow people out of space because of Tag? Like the BH tagged guy who entered Minor. Would it have been ok for me to kill him even though he wasn't ID'd BHG? I think we really need a straight answer here, and maybe a console message saying something like "**** takes priority" or something to inform people to get into RP mode. Many thanks. What takes priority? - Jinx - 03-02-2008 first there is the ID then there is nothing for a looong, long time.... then you take the tag into consideration then the ship and then the equipment. reason for that: the ID is the primary instrument to identify a character. its unmistakenly and determines ones affiliation. - the tag "should match the ID as closely as possible" - but may aswell let room for RP. - but thats something you only consider after you identified someone by his / her ID. ship, equipment etc. is secondary if any. all that can have a background story based on RP. that can be a story that is simply not your ( in term of the person that is scanning ) business. edit: so it can be in roleplay - if someone has for example: a GMG ID, a zoner tag and a rheinland behemoth transport. - he can be GMG employed, affiliated to zoners due to his outworld journeys and connections - and, due to the close connection to helgoland station ( in case he originates from gasminer naha in sig-13 ) he might be able to fly a rheinland transport. What takes priority? - Dopamino - 03-02-2008 Tag can be messed up sometimes, so ID is always first. The only time you really think about the tag and ship is if they don't match the ID, then you warn them to fix it. If they don't, then report them. What takes priority? - Jwnantze - 03-02-2008 waltz into alpha or gamma with a bgh/police/military tag and chances are you wont waltze out. But the ID is most inportant. However, if you have a corsair ship and tag and head to alpha you WILL be shot no questions asked. What takes priority? - pchwang - 03-02-2008 ID is more important than the tag. The tag indicates with whom you are aligned with, while the ID indicates your role in the game. This is why one must scan for the other player's ID before engaging. What takes priority? - X-Lancer - 03-03-2008 today i saw a BHG guy with BHG tag but with a BRETONIA BATTLESHIP....and he has 2 Order turret.....wtf...Bretonia doesn't give a damn on bounty hunter... What takes priority? - Dopamino - 03-03-2008 Yeah, lots of bounty hunters decide they want to use house ships rather than BHG ones. Odd. What takes priority? - Horon - 03-03-2008 ID is WHAT you are, and your tag is WHO you are. Hope that made some sense... What takes priority? - Jinx - 03-03-2008 from what i gathered, its a darkwing ship - official faction of old. - i am sure they have a RP for that kind of thing. and even if not, it wouldn t disturb me much as long as the ingame RP fits. still leaves the fact that the ID is the basis of all RP. - closely followed by a playerfaciton tag ( if there is one ). pretty much everything else can be RPed. - its not impossible for a BHG to fly a bretonian battleship and have 2 order turrets. - it becomes harder to explain when you have a coalition member flying a nomad battleship, or an outcast flying a rheinland battleship. - you d have to be really creative and pursuasive to do that in RP. if something like that crops up - and if you really care for it, you might just ask for their story about it in a non accusatory way - sometimes you get some cool stories from the people. ( well, most of the times you are ignored though ) What takes priority? - sovereign - 03-03-2008 ' Wrote:today i saw a BHG guy with BHG tag but with a BRETONIA BATTLESHIP....and he has 2 Order turret.....wtf...Bretonia doesn't give a damn on bounty hunter... That's just sad. Although a certain someone flying Rheinland Cruiser, Daumann tag, and Coalition ID through Liberty was a little worse... Anyhoo, if tag/ship/ID don't match up, act according to ID for attitude and ask them about it. Preferably before attacking, but if they're tagged hostile, a few PMs after/during could work. |
