Incoming Missile!
Incoming Missile!
Beep beep beep be-

Shut up already! Ugh.

Randy was half blinded by the intense light of the Tau 23 star -the shades weren't working properly-, his hands a blur over the controls as he tried to keep the battered Nyx flying between asteroids at high speeds that missed him by only a few inches to spare. There was a high pitched cyclonic sound in the cockpit as several countermeasures were coughed out by the launcher, the radar screen displayed a splash of red and orange lines that pointed out the countermeasures were effective, the missile alarm died out, although that didn't necessarily mean his hunter ran out of them.

The Sabre was always right behind him, Randy could see the angry red lines of energy slashing away to the sides, some missing and some hitting. He thought he was doing a good job evading, although his shields really never had the time to recharge properly until they were shot into nothing yet again. He checked his electronic warfare scanner and saw the Sabre had built up energy again, Randy immediately swerved to the side just as the bubble of antimatter flashed passed him hitting a random asteroid that dissolved into bits and pieces of flowing matter.

Hell no I'm not gonna die to that retard this way.

He was just about to try a risky maneuver that would probably end both of their lives when his communication unit started buzzing, a young man's voice, a bit younger than Randy's came through.

Sir, we found you at last, it looks we went too far though, coming up on your 1 o'clock.
Damn it Shahal, next time, when a fight is splitting up, don’t leave the Nyx alone, yeah? Another gunboat can take care of itself.
Yes Sir, sorry sir, so, standard blow-the-hunter-up procedure?
Yes.
Target locked, launching missiles.

The Hydra class gunboat was only a few clicks off when it launched two missiles; Randy could see them on his HUD display and was waiting for just the right time. The Outcast didn't seem to care about the gunboat and kept on hammering the Nyx in front of it with everything it had, his aiming was getting better. Just then flashes of light popped behind the Nyx, launching all the countermeasures it had. This gave the Outcast a startle as the intense amount of light and heat messed up with his targeting systems for a very short amount of time, enough time for Randy to deactivate his stabilizers, do a 180 turn and thrust head to head with the Sabre; the maneuver hammered in so many G's that anyone less than a seasoned pilot would have instantly blacked out. The Outcast, surprised by the sudden collision-warning swerved to the side as the Nyx launched a mine that blew in the Sabre's face, dissipating it's shields. One of the Hydra's missiles hit the Sabre from the side with the force of a freight train that made it slide to the side spinning like a top as it smashed into an small asteroid, a split second later the second missile, which had decreased it's velocity to compensate for the new target location, exploded on it's already twisted hull, tearing it to pieces.

Nice explosion you made there Shahal.

Randy turned his ship around and with a single shot blew up the escape pod, the Outcast had pissed him off way too much, he wasn't in a forgiving state either.

My comm's are damaged, send a message to the Rubicon and have them get my other Nyx ready, this one's been punched like hell, let’s hope the cruise drive works..

- - - - -

Major.
Yes, what do you want Summer, won’t I have even a minute of peace and quiet?

The projectors at the edges of the room lit up, a dispersed and crude holographic image appeared next to Randy’s couch in his office and sharpened soon after to display the body of a young woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes, a fair face and outlined in a thin, long white dress. She circled behind Randy’s couch and stopped when she was right near the large, polished wooden table.

No, it looks like you won’t, you’ve been ordered to dispatch with a wing to Coronado and temporarily take command of the HK wings. It seems like Captain Nakamura was given another assignment, you will be covering for him.
The hell, was it the Commander that arranged this?
Yes, the order came down directly from him, he thought you would ask, so his exact reply to you before-hand is ''it’s YOUR problem Randy, I can’t be assed.''
Great, get my Nyx ready, pick Justin and Mark as my two escorts and notify the TAZ that I’ll be passing through Baffin beforehand, don’t want to waste time.
Of course Major, good hunting.

Randy was already in his flight suit, he mostly was anyway. Quickly checking his sidearm and ammo he walked out of his office, quickly pacing towards the hangar, several pilots and crewman passing by saluted while doing so. As he passed one of the pilots’ quarters, two tall men came out and followed Randy on each side, by the time they arrived at the hangar, three Nyxes were already warmed up and at the front of the sortie line, ready to go.

At least I can get some quiet when passing through Baffin.

A few minutes later the three Nyxes undocked from the Rubicon, the Colonial Flagship, and cruised towards the Tau 29 jump hole, the first few minutes were passing without action, even when the passed by Cali base. Meaning that the outcasts didn’t really care for them at the time being, Randy couldn’t explain the amount of relief and pleasure he felt for that, it was going to be a smooth flight.

Stefan was sitting at the chair, exausted, thinking about what happened last day in Rheinland and Borderworlds. He remembered everything, from how they got there and why, to how they came back. The light of Red Giant was still in his mind, he seemed totally broken. He felt pain in his mind, he couldn'€™t resist anymore, he started to scream. Stefan heard the voice in his head, like something was following him, something too great for him to understand. He had a feeling that his head will explode. The voice was louder and louder, as time was slowly passing. One minute lasted like whole year, pain slowed down everything. He took a dose of Cardamine, but nothing changed. He was sitting for hours and hours and screaming, while nobody was able to hear him, and even if someone was, they couldn'€™t help him. After almost entire day of screaming, the pain suddenly vanished. Everything was back to normal and he could finally get some sleep, which he did.

When he woke up, he received a transmission from Administrator Brandon who wanted Stefan in his office immediately. He was feeling like a newborn, his mind was clear and he could finally focus on something. He took off from Malta and was on his way to Corsica, where Brandon'€™s office was located. By arriving at Corsica, he always first looked at the star and then at the Razgriz black hole. The glow of star covered his face. He was happy, feeling so safe. After several minutes of looking at the star, he turned to Corsica and docked on it.
The long, dark halls of Corsica was the thing he missed. When he was at Corsica, he felt protected by Great Spirits who were watching through the Razgriz black hole.

The big black door could'€™ve been seen in the end of the hall. The office of those honorable enough to be Administrators of Ghosts. Stefan entered the office and saluted to Administrator Brandon.

'€œ'€™Ola Stefan, sit. Make yourself comforable.'€ '€“ Brandon said
'€œGracias Senor. So, you said there is an important task waiting for me, si?'€ '€“ Stefan raised eyebrow
'€œSi Stefan, let me explain everything to you.'€
After several minutes of speech, Stefan came out of the office with smile on his face. He was the one who was decided to test a Nomad power cell which was obtained during a journey to Omegas.

'€œStefan, don'€™t forget to pick up your two wingmen. They are best of the best, I don'€™t want to send you there on your own.'€
'€œSi Senor!'€
'€“ Stefan nodded and left
When he arrived at docking platform where his ship was located, he saw a group of people waiting for him. They showed him the power cell, and told him to take good care of it.
He took off from Corsica with his two wingmen, looked back at a star and the Razgriz black hole and left for Alpha.

Randy!

Randy turned his head and saw a blurry silhouette between the oh so many snowflakes that stormed the entire area, her slim profile made it obvious she was a woman, although he couldn'€™t really see her face she seemed to know who he was. The shock trooper in charge of 'guarding' Randy suddenly shook himself off and took a step towards the incoming 'threat' and leveled his rifle. The woman didn'€™t show any sign of slowing down, Randy signaled the marine to stand down and a split second later the woman jumped onto Randy with all her force, almost knocking him down. The Shock Trooper'€™s rifle was instantly trained on the woman'€™s head behind her, she didn'€™t even seem to care.

The hell..

It took a moment for Randy to realize she was actually hugging her, the thick clothing on both of them didn'€™t help to decrease the strength he felt around his torso. As she looked up at his face and took off her half-mask, Randy instantly recognized her.

Valeria?

The trooper lowered his rifle and began to survey the area, alert.

I haven'€™t seen you in a while Randy, it'€™s been a long time, why didn'€™t you visit?
Well, I am here aren'€™t I?

She suddenly pulled away, folded her arms and put on her angry face.

Bull****!

Randy thought of backing away, other than the '€˜angry face'€™ that could put psychos in chains, she was also an ex-outcast from a family that went back generations on Malta and was equally as strong '€“if not stronger- than Randy.

Ok ok, I was sent here on assignment, what can I do, it'€™s not like they really give us permission up in the Taus to visit people here.
Bull**** as well, you'€™re a Major, you can do whatever!
Well Valeria, I still have a war to fight, I can'€™t abandon my men like that. But I also can'€™t go against orders, so here I am.

In truth, he was wondering so much as to why he was sent here he had forgotten all about Valeria, but she didn'€™t have to know that. Her arms unfolded and her hell-bent face turned into its normal beautiful state.

I guess you'€™re right, sorry Randy.

She hugged her again for a few seconds and then pulled back. They slowly started walking in the snow towards the construction ahead.

So, why exactly were you ordered here?
They put me in command of the Istanbul'€™s Hunter-Killer wings, it seems their CAG got ill or something and they brought me in. No idea why they'€™re pulling ME out of the front-lines to act as some chief-of-defense.
It'€™s ok, at least I got to see you.
What makes you think I wanted to see you?
Again, more bull**** and you know it.

Randy laughed as his mind went back months, when he was still a Captain, CAG of the Rubicon. His wing had intercepted and took over a slaver and brought the ship to Java. He normally didn'€™t get involved in the direct 'saving' of the slaves and left them to his junior officers but had decided to simply oversee the operation from close-up. Two minutes in, when he was helping an especially beaten 'slave' get up, she had suddenly lunged at Randy'€™s guard and taken his pistol, aiming it carefully at Randy'€™s help. He had been astonished and was trying to think of a reason as to why one of the people they helped wanted to suddenly kill him, luckily for him, Valeria was thinking whether she should or not and a republic sniper in the background shot the weapon out of her hand. Afterwards, Randy had learned that she was an outcast exiled from Malta and of course had a hate for Colonial pilots. He had visited and talked to her in the bunker given, it was then that their 'friendship' had begun, although she never really did explain as to why she was exiled, he was guessing it was because of some kind of family feud and she took the wrong side.
They were in the construction site now, the place was bristling with activity.

How'€™s the colonization going?
Pretty well, everyone'€™s chipping in, not just the military or workforce, normal citizens are picking up tools just to help, this is one of the main military bases that are being constructed, it'€™ll serve as an HQ I think.

All around Randy could see people working, either melding, cutting or simply walking around carrying supplies with the help of industry robots, the crates of supplies had different emblems on them and were from all over Sirius, TAZ, OSI, Virulian and even some large independent trading companies were sending in supplies from all over, adding that to the will of the colonist, Pecos was quickly going to become fully colonized.

He could even see a few pilots working with the engineers, helping out as well as they could, they saluted as Randy and Valeria passed. He also saw a few hooded figures talking amongst each other near the AI control platform. The Virulian Enclave. Randy didn'€™t know much about them other than they were some kind of peaceful group with amazing levels of technological advancement, and were one of the Republic'€™s main suppliers and friends. He had also seen one of their '€˜templars'€™ in battle, a hooded individual who wreaked havoc on the battlefield, if the Enclave had the Colonials'€™ numbers, they'€™d probably take over Sirius or something equally impossible.

Looking pretty good actually, and what exactly are you doing in all this mess?
Overseeing the whole thing, well, there'€™s this General Herring guy whose technically in command, but I'€™m looking after the civilian constructi-
Sir, Commander Coruh is awaiting your presence in space.

Randy looked to the shock trooper, and then noticed a small transport with the 7-Tower emblem of the Istanbul landing on one of the supply platforms.

Already? Damn, time flies.
Yes sir, your wing is currently in space awaiting you in space, a transport is here to take you to the Istanbul.
Do you HAVE to go?
Sorry Val, duty calls.

Valeria gave Randy a last hug just before he headed to the transport.

Come back again soon! I know damn well you'€™ll be staying for a bit.
Hah..

Black Lead, you have a green light, good hunting.
Roger that Istanbul Command, be seeing you.
Alright boys, let'€™s go, reports say 3 pirates near the Cortez hole.

The three Nyxes charged their cruise engines and headed for the Cortez hole, although there was still some time until they would enter the asteroid field. The Istanbul shortly disappeared from sight and Pecos got smaller and smaller as they flew off into the distance.

Reaper, sir, I heard you were transferred from the front lines?
Aye, why do you ask lieutenant?
Curious how the situation was sir, we were transferred here along with the evacuation.
Not that good, running low on supplies, we can only use guerilla tactics, '€˜kill'€™ and run, against the Royals that is, the outcasts aren'€™t as hard. But it'€™ll all be over soon enough when the Admiral gives the order for full retreat, not that long now.
I see sir, why did they have you transferred here? Can'€™t be just because of Nakamura.
I have no idea myself, lieutenant, we'€™ll see what happens, now keep your head straight, pirates to kill and we'€™re getting closer to our destination.
Yes sir.

After several minutes of flying, Stefan and his two wingmen arrived at Omicron Alpha.

"Alright people, follow me and do not ever, under any circumstances get separated from group." - Stefan said to his wingmen.

"Si Senor, we understand. We've been on missions like this, It won't be easy but we'll cover your back."

"Alright, I'm glad I have experienced wingmen." - Stefan nodded.

After their little conversation regarding flight plans and tactics that are going to be used if they find themselves under attack, they engaged cruise engines and headed towards planet Malta for the last preparations before leaving.

Everything seemed quiet as they were slowly passing by planet Mallorca. Then suddenly, radars picked up hostile contacts closing in fast. Those were three Bounty Hunters.

"Good day Outcasts. Well, It isn't that good for you, destroy them!" - One of the Bounty Hunters said.

"Well see about that. Diego, Fernando, take out those two wingmen of their leader. I'll take care of him. Be careful, we must do this as faster as possible, as we don't need any unwanted attention, even if we are in our own system." - Stefan responded quickly and battle started.

-Incoming missile-

"Damn it! Launching countermeasure. Be careful, they are using missiles all over." - Stefan said while he seemed quite worried.

The missiles and guns were flying all over the place, in the beautiful deadly dance of Sabres and Mantas. The fight already took enough precious time from Stefan and his wingmen, they had to do something. Stefan wasn't able to think very clearly, he was very busy evading those missiles. Then something unexpected happened. Stefan was still flying like he's focused, but he had an vision, how he called them. Everything was purple. Stefan was sitting in front of the unknown Nomad-looking structure but he had no idea what was it.

"Commander, we're almost getting slaughtered, what are your orders?!" - Diego started to yell.

"Commander, are you alright? You seem quite out of your mind right now." - Fernando jumped in conversation.

Stefan didn't respond. He was looking at giant Nomad hive. Soon, Great Harbinger appeared in front of him.

"The heck!?" - Stefan was obviously scared.

Diego and Fernando looked at each other through cockpit, both looking rather confused.

Stefan was still in his vision, looking at Great Harbinger, when suddenly he came back to life.

"What the hell did just happened?!" - Stefan yelled.

"Senor, we're getting hammered!" - Both Diego and Fernando said.

Stefan suddenly started to think very fast. The Hunters weren't even able to land one hit on his shields since he came back from vision. His reflexes were increased. Hunter wing leader was right behind him, and when he saw that, he headed straight towards Mallorca's atmosphere. The Hunter was so focused on aiming that he didn't even knew where he was heading. Projectiles were all around Stefan's ship. Diego and Fernando saw him heading towards Mallorca, but they didn't want to say anything and interrupt him. They believed in him since he was the one honorable enough to be given such a mission from Administrator.

-Danger: Entering atmosphere-

"Very well." - Stefan said

He was waiting for the right moment and when it came, he turned by 180 degrees and hunter realised where is he, but it was too late. The heat of the atmosphere started to eat hunter's ship. His power reactor and engines got disabled due to the heat in the atmosphere. Hunter's ship fell apart while Stefan was watching at it and chuckling.

"Great job Senor, I knew you were not going to disappoint us!" - Fernando said.

"Gracias. Now, enough talk. Let's take care of remaining fighters, they shouldn't be that hard with their leader down."

Stefan's wing turned into offensive. The Krakens were melting on the Mantas, while remaining hunters tried to evade. After several minutes of fight, Stefan's wing finally won and they were on their way to Malta. They soon landed on Malta, prepared for assignment and took of to Taus. When they entered Tau 37, they were blinded for the couple of seconds due to white cloud where Alpha jump hole was located. After that, they were on their way to Tau 23. It was quiet when suddenly, Stefan started to scream. He felt the pain in his head, he never felt something like that. The memories. Great Spirits were trying to tell him something and he wanted to find out what and understand them, but it was insanely hard for him. He had a feeling like his head will explode. He remembered everything. Going through graveyard jump hole and what was located in another two systems.

The pain was growing, he heard voices. He saw an dark cloud and Great Harbinger inside it. He didn't dare to enter the cloud, even if he was called by Harbinger. He was receiving the visions about humans shooting at Spirits without mercy. He felt the same pain they felt. In that moment, Stefan realized that he's connected to them in some way. As soon as he realized that, the pain disappeared. He felt strong, like a newborn.

"Senor, are you alright? You must have some advanced autopilot on your Sabre, we're in Baffin, almost at Coronado jump hole." - Diego whispered.

"Well damn. I'm fine. Actually, I'm great. Never felt better in my entire life." - Stefan answered.

"There is a jump hole, be careful people, we don't know what's on the far side."
- Stefan gave final instructions to Diego and Fernando before jumping.

They jumped. The white covered their faces again. The white cloud again, same as one in Tau 37. They didn't have enough time for looking around.

"People, we're finally here. So, in this system, an Alien Gate is located. Let's move." - Stefan whispered.

After several minutes of flying, they found themselves under attack of two rookie Colonials.

"What the heck!?" - Stefan started to scream

"Good God, prepare yourselves guys, this shouldn't be as hard as those hunters in Alpha."

The fight started. As Colonial rookies were getting beaten, they sounded alarm. At that time, the entire Colonial fleet knew they were in the system. Colonials went down like flies, and Stefan's wing moved to Alien Gate without losing too much precious time and without risking being located by Colonials.

"That was good guys, but now we'll be hunted. Colonials know we are here, and they won't let us leave without a fight. Be careful and let's go."

Whoa! Haha!
Don'€™t get cocky Marvin, it'€™s turrets might not be able to track you as easily, but that thing'€™s weapons are made to punch through heavy capital armor.
Sir, the Gollun is taking heavy hits from that slave liner.
Sei, new target, the slave liner.
Yes sir, on it.

Randy could barely hear Sei, a little bit more than a whisper but she was a determined pilot, he could simply feel it in her voice.

The op was supposed to be a quick and easy kill, just a pirate or two to be shot down and life would go on as always. But, with the perfect timing of a small Zoner supply convoy, their escorts, a Cardamine Smuggler and Slaver plus their Tridente and dual Sabre escort had turned the area into a small warzone. It was such a mixed fight that all of the 'participants' had to be careful not to shoot the wrong person lest there be political consequences. The Tridente had been giving them a hard time and Randy had requested a heavy support wing to be dispatched from the Istanbul, they would arrive at the scene shortly.

I think I hit something important, a part of the Slaver'€™s hull just blew itself, and its engines are inoperable. Oh, did a scan, it'€™s reactor is damaged, it won'€™t be shooting anything either.
Good, don'€™t damage it any further, we don'€™t want to risk any lives, concentrate on the gunboat you two.

Randy was on one of the pirates' tail, it was a Waran class bomber, used by most pirates that worked for themselves, either that or the Roc. It would be an easy kill, the Pirate's armor had already been severely damaged by the transports' defense systems, they were well armed. The distinct buzz of electricity was heard as the Vampires slashed through space and bit the Waran hard. It'€™s engines were dead and couldn'€™t maneuver, two seconds later it was blown apart.

Sir, more incoming, two Eagles, I only just noticed them now, three clicks out.

Randy had his guncam zoom in and do a brief scan, they were old and battered ships, literally falling apart as they were flying.

Either scavengers or pirates, don'€™t engage just yet, keep on that gunbo-
AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-*bzzzt*
Marvin ? Come in Marvin!?
He's gone.

Randy only had the time to close his eyes for half a second and salute the young Ensign as he too was left behind. Marvin had been dangerously playing in the firing arcs of the Tridente, while the battle razors were a bit too slow to effectively track fighters, one mistake and they could tear a fighter or bomber apart. Marvin had made a mistake.

This is Sequoia Lead to Reaper, sir, we are 9 clicks of your position and closing, our weapons are primed, where do you need us?

You're damn late, Sequoia, you're going to have to make up for a Republican life, now start shooting on anything not tagged as a Zoner. The Tridente goes down first.
Yes sir, engaging when in range.

- - - - -

Crap crap craaaaaap!

The Outcast'€™s aim was close to impossible, or so the Colonial Ensign thought, his wing leader and other wing-mate-who was also an Ensign- had already been killed a minute into the fight. The Ensign, David Ghey, was having a really hard time evading the 3 outcasts behind him, the only reason he was still surviving was because of the asteroids, and he was hugging them as his life depended on it. What'€™s more, one of the outcasts was tagged as a 101st member..

Ghey'€™s hull was already leaking coolant and flaming in other parts near the engine, it wouldn'€™t be long now. Both his superior and friend didn'€™t have the time to send a distress call and their pods had been killed without hesitation by the Ghost. He checked his system diagnostics again and saw that his long range transmitter wasn'€™t damaged, but he still couldn'€™t send a transmission for some reason.

Come on come on come on, why don'€™t you work !?

It wouldn'€™t be long now, a critical reactor-feed pipe had just been melted by the incoming fire, he had to eject soon or else his Nyx might be too damaged to even eject. David had to plan it carefully though, smartly going closer and closer to the asteroids.

Just gotta find a big one-'€¦the hell?

The diagnostics system had shown the reason of the error, he hadn'€™t seen it before since he only had 2 seconds at most to check it, but it showed that his long range transmitter was simply in diagnostic mode. He hated himself so much at that second but couldn'€™t waste any more time on his feelings, he pushed a few buttons and entered a quick code, the communication system boot itself.

Yes!

He instantly opened a comm. Line to the Istanbul and didn'€™t even check if it was secure, he didn'€™t have the time.

This is Ensign David Ghey, my wing is down, I am sending coordinates, three outcasts, I repeat three Outcasts and one of them is Ghost, they have breached the first patrol line, they were headed due south, system south. Requesting a wing for assis-

David couldn'€™t multitask as well as he thought he could and made a mistake, forgetting to round the asteroid completely, the Ghost had been right behind him and an antimatter shot tore the Nyx in half.

- - - - -

The fight was pretty much over, a heavy support with consisting of a gunboat and four Nyxes with veteran pilots were more than enough to level the battlefield. The Zoner escorts hadn'€™t survived and only half of the transports were still operable. The last pirate had been destroyed only a few seconds ago.

Alright, we at least got the slave ship, it can'€™t fly or shoot, pirates dead, Tridente dead, good work.

Randy got pinged by the gunboat.

Yes Sequoia?
Sir, incoming transmission from the Istanbul, three outcasts were sighted near the Baffin hole and are supposedly heading to the system '€˜south'€™, one of the them was reported as a Razgriz Ghost, the Istanbul got the transmission just before two of our patrol wings were butchered. The transmission wasn'€™t on a secure line either.

Randy'€™s ship wasn'€™t damaged at all, but Sei'€™s had some moderate damage, the Sequoia squadron had barely took a few shots. The thought of a Ghost in system was intriguing, and he couldn'€™t let them go unanswered anyway.

Sequoia, I'€™ll be needing two of your pilots, Sei, you'€™ll be sticking with Sequoia, no buts. Call in a team to extract the slaves and a salvager as well.
Yes sir.
Sir, with you.
As am I.
Good, lets hunt us some Outcasts.

Most of the Colonial pilots in Coronado were inexperienced and didn'€™t have much other fighting experience other than shooting down pirates or stopping smugglers, fighting outcasts, and even a ghost was something entirely different. There were barely any high ranking officers either; most were in still in the Taus. But the Sequoia Hunter-Killer group consisted of battle-hardened veterans that had fought years in the Taus, and with Randy, they were more than enough to destroy a triplet of Outcast Sabres.

Randy set the course for the Barrier Gate Station, his two new wingmen right behind him in a close formation, they were close to the station, it would only take a few minutes.

Unification - Soul Reaper - 11-10-2011

103024302, you are cleared to dock.

There wasn’t even a hint of metallic sound inside the seemingly-lifeless station as the outer docking hatch opened for the Avenger to enter, and closing after it seamlessly. The station just looked like a large black box with some sharp edges on the surface when it was completely locked down. The Avenger bobbed up and down slightly as the flight corridor was pressurized with atmosphere, the inner hatch opened, the Avenger slipped in silently and landed on one of the pads. Thick glass walls silently extended from the floor to the ceiling to effectively trap the ship in a box. Many gases and liquids were released into the chamber while several high-frequency lasers ran across the height of the glass chamber, the decontamination was complete after two minutes, the gases were vented out and the glass walls slid back into the floor. The Avenger’s side hatch opened and a figure, dressed in all black and grey with an even darker colored long trench coat, silently -just like the rest of the whole station- stepped out onto the platform and headed to the only raised floor area other than the pads themselves.

Four heavily armed and armored guards were on each corner of the raised pad that was adjacent to a wall; the guards didn’t move, twitch or even look at the figure that stepped onto the pad until he was at the wall, and then they suddenly raised their weapons and concentrated on the figure, one wrong move and four armor piercing rounds would tear through his head in an instant.

The man put his hand on a console obviously made to fit the particular human limb. At the same time he looked straight forward as a small hatch on the wall was opened and a retinal scanner extended out, beaming a laser into the man’s eye, at the same time he talked with a crystal-clear but cold voice.

One Zero Three Zero Two Four Three Zero Two.

A single needle on the hand scanner pierced his skin, collecting a blood sample to analyze. The man stood the exact same was for a few more seconds until a high-pitched beep resonated throughout the whole hangar, part of the wall next to the console had 'fallen in' without a sound, a green light was seen come out for a second, then changed to a normal white.

The guards lowered their weapons and returned to their 'normal' stature.

The man went inside and the ‘atmosphere’s instantly changed from dark and lifeless to a blinding white, high frequency lights were all over the walls and corridors, a mid-aged man clothed with a white coat –obviously some kind of doctor or scientist-, looking as if he were in his 40s, approached.

Welcome back Agent Mitchell.
Her status has changed, you said.
Indeed, 'her' status has changed.

The professor clearly wasn’t happy about giving it some kind of personality, but no one on the entire station questioned Agent Mitchell. They started walking through the many corridors and passes of the station, the lighting never changing, always a bright white, they had passed several doors.

Tony had always been amazed by the subtlety of the research station; there weren’t even any signs, labels or boards on the walls or even next to the doors, anyone not knowing the entire structure of the maze of corridors with the same bright color would get lost almost instantly. But as the station administrator, Tony of course knew all the pathways of the station. A few minutes later they came upon one of the doors, it was the exact same of all the other doors and had nothing different whatsoever, it slid open as soon as they came close, and closed right after they were inside. The interior was much different from the corridors, not as bright but still white. There was a heavy metal door on the other side of the room with windows looking into an adjacent room. Several scientists were working on tables with holographic displays of DNA, organic tissue and other readings. Tony got closer to one of the windows and looked inside.
A young woman was sitting on the floor, her back resting on the far wall. She had been looking down with her forehead resting on her drawn up legs. The moment Tony had gotten closer to the wall, she looked up, her eyes could be seen as a glowing purple, looking straight at him.

I thought you said the material had been working against their telepathy.
Not at close range, the material only decreases their effective range to make it smaller, as far as we can tell, just like the others, 'she' isn't 'linked'.
Behavior?
Aggressive, just like the last one.

Tony stepped up to the door and punched in a code, the door hissed and slid to the side, closing the moment he was in.

Different.
Yes, I am.
Your doings will be your last.

Only her mouth moved, but she stood the exact same way even when Tony got close, he stood a bit to the side rather than right in front of her.

Release her chains.

The Young woman was chained from her arms and legs to the wall, a short electronic chain; they gave a click as they unlocked, the moment they did the young woman got up, ran and pushed with all her force against Tony, he simply side stepped and tripped her. She crashed head-first into the side wall but quickly turning to Tony again, her forehead bleeding but she stood still concentrated on Tony.

Explain to me, your reasons of living, thriving and behavior against mankind.

She stood silent for a while; her face muscles clearly showed her as if thinking, a second later she suddenly screamed with all her power and ran towards Tony again. This time he didn'€™t even bother moving to the side, he suddenly lashed out with his hand in a piercing motion directly to her throat, she stopped as if she had hit a steel wall and stuttered back, holding her throat. In a single and swift move, Tony was behind her; he held her throat from behind and pulled back and to the ground with all his strength, at the same time pushing his knee into her back. The single move broke both her neck and spine; she fell lifelessly to the floor. A second later the door opened and Tony walked out as if nothing had happened.

Same as the others, collect data from her body, hopefully it’ll bring you closer to the right chemicals to use.
Just like all the others?
Well, you are closer to finding something than you were when we first started, no?
True.
Good, get to work.

And with just that, Tony left the room and went to the hangar, only giving though as to why the project was moving so slowly even with the billions of credits that were being fed to him by the LSF. A short while later his Avenger was flying in the misty nebula of Alaska, he was headed to the Minor hole, the Zoners were needed.

As they traveled through Coronado, trying to find Alien Gate, Stefan remembered his good old days in Alpha. Peaceful unless there is someone invading. He really missed his home, his brothers. He also remembered about his uncle. He was sad, being almost unable to do anything. Stefan knew he owed his uncle much and he really wanted to take him out of jail, but he never knew how. He was angry on his brother Pedro, as he was the one who was responsible for him.

The purple light appeared, he had a vision again. He didn't try to resist, all he did was trying to get as deeper as possible into vision and find out what Spirits want from him. He was told before that they aren't usually interested in individuals. The pain wasn't so hard as it used to be, even if it was still there. Stefan didn't scream, he was calm like never before. While moving through system full of hostiles hunting him, he wasn't even aware of anything that was happening around him. He saw an woman with dark hair. Her face was covered by shadows. She told him to follow her. He was unsure but he followed. His curiosity made him to.

Being totally unaware of what is he doing, Stefan turned his ship to direction where Alien Gate wasn't supposed to be, at least not according to 101st informations. Diego and Fernando were confused, they didn't understand why Stefan changed the course.

"What are you doing, Senor?" - Fernando asked.

Stefan didn't say anything, he literally wasn't giving any signs of life.

"Senor, are you there? Do you hear me?!" - Diego started to yell.

Stefan was still speechless. Diego and Fernando didn't have what to do except to follow him. Stefan was still in his vision, he was still looking at the woman and was following her. Suddenly, the woman stopped and disappeared.

"What the hell?! Where are you going?" - Stefan yelled.

He suddenly realized that he wasn't in the vision anymore. He looked around and saw nothing but white color.

"Where are we?" - Stefan asked his wingmen.

"I have no idea, Senor. You just changed course few minutes ago. We tried to talk to you, but without much success." - Diego responded.

"The hell.. How I even managed to change course? I was having.. something, I wasn't aware of what I was doing. Probably autopilot, or.. Well, I can't tell anything for now. Let's just leave it and find out where the hell are we."

"Si Senor, we are on it" - Both Diego and Fernando answered in the same time, which made them smile.

"Alright, I think we are near Ali..." - Stefan suddenly stopped to talk.

"Senor, are you alright?"

Stefan was having a vision again. No answer was received from him. Diego and Fernando were cold-blooded this time, as they already got used to it. A woman appeared again, the same that was in front of Stefan in his vision just about few minutes ago. She called him. She told him to follow her, but this time, he didn't want to. He didn't trust her since he didn't even see her face at the first place, but also because he thought she was going to trick him again and she was trying to keep them away from Alien Gate.

"No, I don't believe you. I won't follow you anymore!" - Stefan said.

A woman turned and he finally saw her face for the first time. Stefan was literally frozen for few moments. He didn't move, he just stared at her. The face was looking too familiar for him. He was trying to remember it, but without too much success. He had a feeling like his head will explode. He was trying to figure out who was that for several minutes. He reminded himself of the old days but without much success, again. As the face looked familiar to him, he decided to follow that woman. Stefan was tired, he wanted to finish with what he started and get back to home. He needed a rest. A woman was leading him through some dark halls. He was able to see the light of the moon through few small square windows. They were old and almost broken. He heard a creepy sounds but it didn't stop him from following a woman. He was curious, he didn't want to resist. The visions were something that was scary and impressing for him at the same time.

He was heading towards giant, black doors. Blood was all over the walls. The place looked familiar too, but he didn't recognize it. The screaming was heard in the distance. Stefan wasn't sure if he should keep up, but there was no way back. He stood in the front of the black doors but he hesitated opening them. After several seconds, he finally found enough courage to do it, and he started opening the doors. The creepy sound was heard, making Stefan sure the doors were quite old. As the doors were slowly opening, the purple glow was blinding Stefan. Everything was purple, the entire hall behind Stefan. He stepped through the doors and suddenly found himself in a Sabre. His vision was over, he got back in reality.

"Senor, are you back?" - Diego asked.

"Si, I'm back. Had an.. something." - Stefan responded with rather confused voice.

"So, let me see where we are." - He checked the radar.

He saw something small, black in the distance. He wasn't sure what was that, but he thought about Alien Gate. He told his crew to follow him, and they did. After few very long minutes of flying, they were close enough to determine it was an Alien Gate they were looking for. The smile could have been seen at Stefan's face, but it disappeared quick enough. The power cell started to glow as they were getting closer to Alien Gate.

"Alright people, we're almost there. When we get close enough, I'll tell. While I test this thing, you two check the radars regularly for any intruders and party breakers that might come here." - Stefan said.

"Understood Senor, we're on stand-by." - Diego answered.

The time was almost at hand, the chosen had arrived.

Yet there was a disturbance, a deep and dark ravine in their sea of thoughts.

There was a problem, a mind was venturing too close, with such force, that could change what was to come.

Doubt was tugging at them.

The asteroid field and cloud had been getting even more dense by the second and visibility was poor. The only reason Stefan knew where he was going was due to his visions and his data consoles showing the once fluctuating nomad power cell to become very stable. He abruptly stopped his ship, his wing men mirroring his movements and stopping a few meters behind him, confused.

Senor?

Stefan had no idea why he had stopped, without an inquiry to his thoughts and mind, his brain had ordered his hands to halt the ship. A feeling of vertigo and then clarity.

Up.

As both himself and his wing men looked up, they could see the alien gate enshrouded in a mist of gas and dust particles, it's looming circular triangle shape looking as if it had sprung out of a nightmare.

By the spirits..

Stefan noticed the energy spikes in his reading of the nomad cell, it was growing in power, his wing men could see his Sabre illuminated in a blooming purple or blue, unseen waves of energy crossed space towards the gate yet the range was still too far.

The time had arrived, the chosen near, the instrument in place.

They had completely forgotten about their doubt, it was seen as an error, a mistake in judgment, nothing could stop time from advancing to triumph.

Yet a voice called from far away, as if a siren. Another mind, another thought.

Warning them, it was not over.

The three Nyxes were flying through the mist with ravenous speed, leaving a trail of heated particles of gas and dust combined with their engine trails to leave a long gash inside whilst they twisted and turned, missing asteroids by a few meters as they continued on their hunt relentlessly.

Randy had changed their bearing numerous times in sync with real-time scanner reports of the three Sabres, the trail had run cold, although the Outcasts' bearings had given him an idea. He had studied the system survey reports before, the only thing that the outcasts could have been heading to was some kind of alien ruin, the reports didn't say much as the scan seemed to have been taken from a long range and deemed unimportant by the 53rd. Yet 3 outcasts, and perhaps even a Ghost seemed to be interested in it, or so he thought. Nothing else had been charted to the south of the system, if not the ruin, it had to be some sort of base.

Closing in on the coordinates you gave us sir.
Lets just hope I'm not horribly off track, if this isn't it, then we've pretty much lost them. But we'll see, yeah.
Sir! Contact, three of them, don't know whether they're hostile or not, too much range and disruption from the field to generate an IFF.
Right, spread out just a bit and pinpoint their location. My money is on these guys, get ready for combat.

No!

The event and foreseen timeline had been interrupted, the error they thought naught else to be had become a reality.

Faith was to be given to the Follower and Chosen, to right their wrong.

The fight had started the second Randy's squad had come close enough to verify their targets, Stefan had been mesmerized by the gate itself and showed no reaction until it was too late. Fernando, one of Stefan's wing-men, had placed himself in front of the oncoming wall of fire that gave Stefan a split second to come to his senses and fight back yet it was too late for Fernando, half of his ship was blown to pieces and the other half was disintegrated completely by antimatter.

Hehe, free kill.
You bastardo! You will pay for that with your life.
Doubt it, Maltard.

The glowing Sabre maneuvered to intercept Randy's Nyx directly, while the other pair of ships fought between themselves, it was a standstill until Stefan's Sabre's underlying engine energy feeds were pierced by Randy's shots. The fight would have been short soon after, yet the presence did not let their chosen fade.

It was too close, their trust had failed, but not their intent.

Failure was not to be allowed, it was time to step in.

The instrument was to be used, if not the way it was supposed to be.

The second path had to be forged, it was their cause.

A necessity, not a question.

A voice of thousands pierced Stefan's mind, yelling at him, screaming at him to do what must be done. At the same time the Power Cell fluctuated it's energy, releasing a portion of it's energy out into space which acted as an EMP and disabled the four ships instantly.

The Cell then devoted some of it's output into the Sabre, charging it back up, yet most of the systems were damaged but the ship was still flyable. Stefan had understood, and saw that he had been given another chance to bring the cell to the gate, it was not simply a mission given to him by high command. It was demanded by the Spirits.

His engines had been severely damaged and he couldn't travel at full speed, although it wouldn't matter, he was going to make it in time, he was sure of it.

Yet, it was not so. The other ships started to power up, their reactors coming back online. Randy's ship was barely scratched and he could see the Sabre headed for the gate, glowing with an intense light that came from within the ship. He didn't know what was happening, what the outcasts were doing or what would happen if that Sabre got to the ruin, but he knew it'd be something bad, something the Razgriz wanted.

The Nyx was on Stefan's tail again, unrelenting and thirsting for his blood, Randy could practically feel the fear that Stefan was radiating, fear of failing the Spirits. The distance was too short to be used effectively, Randy couldn't do enough damage until they were passing the center of the ruin. He saw light erupt from the Sabre, and then consuming his own ship as well, a split second later as the light started to fade, there was yet another, even more intense.

They both felt a sense of vertigo, of gravity. It started to strengthen and they could feel their ships tumbling and rolling and slamming into each other. By the time the gate had jumped them out-system, they had both lost conscious.

The cause was complete, their desire fulfilled.

Yet new thoughts were created, the future held even more.

They were to be chosen yet again.

Together, unified.

Choices, many of them. Us. Ours. Me.

A choice? No. Destiny.

My Destiny.

Randy awoke from his dream with a startle, his heart was racing, he was breathing heavily and bathed in sweat. The first thing he saw was a white surface that had quickly changed to a dull grey as his eyes adjusted to the light. He felt the softness of the bed he was lying on soon after, then a very low humming sound that came from no particular direction. As he sat up the first thing he noticed that his breathing had slowed down to normal which was odd as his heart was beating out of control just a moment ago. His eyes moved to look at the room he was in, it was an ordinary rectangular room, the walls were a dull grey and thin posted lights were etched into them. The only object in the room was his bed and the only other notable object was the door directly across the bed. Randy then noticed he was naked and there weren't any clothes nearby from what he could see, his eyes then caught on his skin. There was no sweat. He could have sworn he had felt as if he had sweat all over his body but now as he looked at his bed it didn't have any trace of any kind of moisture on it.

The humming was consistent.

Where am I?

A humming had stopped the moment he had opened his mouth to speak, but returned several seconds later. He got up from the bed and let his feet hit the ground. And felt an immense pain as his feet touched the floor, it was as if his feet were hit by a sledgehammer. Reflexively he pulled them back on the bed, the pain had been instantaneous however, it wasn't lasting. His eyes fixed on where he was going to stand on, trying to see what had caused the severe pain but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps the floor was electrified somehow? He tried again, slowly lowering his leg for his feet to gently touch the floor. There wasn't any pain this time, or any particular sensation, it felt like a normal wooden plated floor. But the floor didn't look wooden. As he put both feet on the ground the feeling changed to solid concrete, at least the floor somewhat looked like that.

What the hell is going on?

Randy suddenly felt movement, it was like an instinct yet..different, more like an extra sense. There was no other sound other than the humming nor could he see anything different but he knew there was someone or something that was getting closer, his eyes moved to the door. A few seconds later he heard footsteps getting closer, his eyes moved to the wall on his right, there was someone there right on the other side, moving ahead turning the corner, he was sure of it. But how? It didn't matter, his training had kicked in, he was in a completely unknown situation, had no idea where he was nor did he have anything to defend himself with if something happened, and someone was getting close to the single door. He acted and moved for the door -which looked to be heavy metal one with electronic locks- and pressed himself against the wall. The person was right at the door now, there was a silent click as the door unlocked and slid inside the wall. Randy's breathing slowed and it seemed time had slowed along with his breath as a man entered the room. The man was short yet heavily built, his hair cropped short and showing some white, he wore a white coat which made Randy think that he was a doctor of some sort. The man however wasn't aware of Randy's presence until he looked up at the bed and saw that it wasn't occupied. At that moment Randy felt the man tense, there was no indication of it on his body yet Randy just knew the man felt a stab of fear run through him. The man was turning around, still unaware of Randy presence, just as the man had completed his turn Randy's right hand stabbed out placing his palm on the man's neck quickly followed by a foot extended behind his, and pulled to the side, using his foot to trip the man and completing the turn to slam him into the wall behind them. Randy's forearm was now placed directly on the man's neck.

Who are you?

Randy's thoughts stopped for an instant as the words left his mouth. He knew his arm had been pressing against the man's neck, he felt it but he couldn't actually -see- his own arm. A moment later the air where his arm should have been showed had a mirror like surface over it, which then flashed a bright white then turned black. He had clothes. He noticed the man was looking at him wide-eyed and again felt the tension and fear, as if he was radiating it. Randy was still in a sort of shock by the time the man starting sputtering out some unintelligent speech, Randy noticed his arm wasn't allowing the man to breathe. Randy felt his own tension break -the man wasn't a threat- and let him go.

I-I-I..I hadn't realized you had woken up..s-sir.
I apologize for the intrusion but I was told to check on your status.

He didn't know or understand why, but as soon as the man had started to talk, Randy's first urge was to kill him, every instinct, every muscle, his whole body was screaming at him to break the man's neck right there.

But why?
