Sun Running - Dashiell - 11-06-2011 It seems that caps and some gbs love to sun run. Basically it's a free ticket to safety as persuing snubs get roasted. So i was thinking. can`t coronas be programmed to deal damage percentages? Lets say, for example, 10% damage per second in the corona. This will make sun running quite impossible for caps as they will burn up all the same. at the same rate as snubs. A bs is larger and has a bigger profile so it's logical it eats more heat and radiation from a corona, and thus is hit harder by it than a small fighter. Sun Running - Junes - 11-06-2011 /approve Yeah, it is utterly annoying. BSes hiding in the corona or GBs luring its pursuer in there. 10% might be too much imo, maybe reduce it to 5%. (A BS would burn within 25-30 seconds when having full bots.) If it's techincally possible, I'd love to have this adjusted. Sun Running - Stefz - 11-06-2011 I approve this to. You got a point. Sun Running - sadtranslation - 11-06-2011 I honestly expect the discussion to fall into sphere of realism anytime soon when people who adore battleships more than common sense would claim them to be nerfed once again by such a suggestion. Once again this is a question of the abuse of the imperfect game engine. I remember the overall amount of whine that occurred when the cruise drain bug was fixed by the increased recharge timer. I suppose that every little attempt to fix the issues based on player misbehavior would face the same resistance. But since you can't force people to play nicely, this is a good idea. Sun Running - Adain - 11-06-2011 THis is quite annoying, and I think the solution is right here in this thread. +1 Sun Running - Jeremy Hunter - 11-06-2011 If ganking is a valid tactic, so is this. -1. Sorry Dash. Sun Running - Snak5 - 11-06-2011 ' Wrote:If ganking is a valid tactic, so is this.Ganking is not error of game engine. Sun Running - Jeremy Hunter - 11-06-2011 ' Wrote:Ganking is not error of game engine. No, its player error. But that's another discussion. Sun Running - Snak5 - 11-06-2011 ' Wrote:No, its player error.Ye. The one's who failed to flee. Sun Running - TFinnegan - 11-06-2011 I kinda always thought that this was a tactical choice, much the same as base-camping a stationary battleship. While it maybe doesn't show any cajones, discretion IS the better part of valor. In effect, those massive shields and hulls are reinforced specifically to handle and absorb heat. (aren't all weapons one or another form of heat? gravitons, photons, etc.) Since the larger ships would have more ability to handle coronal heat than snubcraft, wouldn't they use that to thier advantage when pressed? No captain wants to lose crew and hardware out of obstinance, not when options exist. I suggest that a good capship captain would use any hardware advantage he/she has over thier adversaries. I dunno, I can see where sun running would be considered cowardly by some folks... but no more so than fleeing a fight only to get a bigger group to change the gank-ratio and return in force. I see that all the time. In the end, it's a mtter of perspective. The guy in the snubcraft chasing a sunrunner is just as aggravated as the guy who gets ganked by 'the one that got away'. -Life is like a coin. If I hold one up between us, and you say it's heads and I say it's tails, who is correct? Gotta turn the coin. |
