Background Information:
Katsumoto was born on April 11, 790 A.S on the planet New Tokyo to his parents Hiroshi and Ayame Fukui. Katsumoto's father was a Commander in the Kusari Naval Forces and had been serving them for over 25 years. Thus Katsumoto was brought up in a very strict and moderated household where it was expected that he follow in the footsteps of his father. However Katsumoto has different ideas and from the age of 8 would consistently go off exploring the mountains that covered the planet often leaving his parents worried and his father more so upset.
As Katsumoto grew older though and saw the disappointment in his fathers eyes he could not continue to bare it much longer and decided one summer when he was 17 to go and spend the time with him in the military. That summer and for the next year he learned all that it took to be an officer in the Kusari Navy just by shadowing his fathers steps. It was also during this time that he met a young female officer name Kayo and began spending much time with her. Little did Katsumoto know however that Kayo was actually a traitor and spy for Bretonia. During their relationship Katsumoto shared intimate knowledge he had learned from his father figuring that Kayo was already aware of it, when in fact she was not. With that knowledge Kayo fed information to Bretonia that led to a direct assault on a squad of Kusari Fighters out on patrol; all of them were killed. The casualty list included Commander Hiroshi Fukui.
Katsumoto secluded himself into the solitude of his bedroom for over two week as he contemplated what he had indirectly had caused and the pain he felt dishonoring his families name. While the KNF High Command cleared him of any wrong doing, claiming he could have had no idea and that Kayo had fooled them all, Katsumoto was still very depressed. It was on one seldom night while out in a bar drinking away and contemplating suicide that an old friend; Satomu Yoshida ran into him. Satomu was a trader for Kishiro Technologies. He persuaded Katsumoto to leave New Tokyo behind for now and to come work for the company, suggesting the freedom and change of scenery would do him good.
Over the next seven years Katsumoto served in the security sector of Kishiro Tech and became one of their top escort pilots, earning the respect of the whole company and fellow pilots throughout Kusari space. However something deep inside lingered in Katsumoto's heart, a feeling of longing for home. After spending much time deciding what he should do, Katsumoto resigned from Kishiro Tech and returned to New Tokyo. After repairing old wounds with his family Katsumoto was still left with a decision on what to now do with his life for a career. Deciding to honor his Father instead of running away any further he signed up for the KNF in the hopes of making peace with himself finally and bringing honor to the Fukui family once more.
