Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - Vince - 03-12-2008

Yesterday myself and Vega Spotted 2 Keepers ships in Delta via long range scanners. We were in Gamma and started making our way to Delta.

We engaged the Keepers at Iota Jump gate and Vega was almost immediatly destroyed. Now this is where my Question and argumant comes in.

I was one Corsair Bomber, against a Nomad Battleship and Gunboat. Now, as I RP in my bomber, the logical thing for me to do was retreat. I knew there were corsair independants in Delta space, so I headed to Yaren with the Nomads on hot persuit. I send out a distress call for assistance, 2 corsair gunboats came to help, but were destroyed as well..So there was me in the bomber alone again.. Right, so RP again and I retreat again while communicating on private channels with my TBH brothers for assistance. The Keepers chase me to Kappa, where they engage a Bretonia Battleship, and I wait at the Kappa Jump hole for my Brothers to come?

Now , Am I not allowed to Re-engage now? As I would thing that this is absolutely absurd. Obviously I would radio in for help, and once they have arrived attack again..When we engaged them again, I was immediatly told that I am not allowed to re-engage. That is just stupid..So one bomber should take on a Battleship and Gunboat, until you die, or retreat permanently, cant wait for backup..Isnt that why we play this, to fight in groups.

I would like that admins opinion on this. If they dont agree with me, I need to be sanctioned, as I did re-engage, but broke off as soon as the Keepers started complaining. but I mean, in RP that would exactly be what my character would do..not die a stupid death against overwhelming odds..This aint a Rambo movie..

If your escape succeed you have no right to re-engage under any condition.

If I'm wrong correct me someone please.

Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - Horon - 03-12-2008

Just say "We aren't retreating! We are advancing in reverse!".

Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - Kambei - 03-12-2008

there are allowed only 2 strategys... charge or flee

Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - Reverend Del - 03-12-2008

If they succesfully caught you and fired upon you, you can fight back, if they do not chase then you may not engage, simple.

Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - Heartless - 03-12-2008

I always thought if you were in pursuit while you are trying to flee, then you are allowed to re-engage.

yup, found it.

Quote:5.6 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing. The fleeing player must not enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.

However, the fleeing player can re-engage at will if chased.

now something else...

Why is it that the Keepers are ALWAYS in capital ships? I never see anything smaller than a Nomad gunboat when it comes to Keepers, were is their RP?

Indeed it's simple.

EDIT:

SwissScorch maybe that's theirs "RP"..

I have experienced Keeper RP andit's all done through private channels, as they speak telepathically, and it's usually very good. You may not know about it if you've never recieved their messages.

Tactical Retreat vs Fleeing - onca - 03-12-2008

Dude if the odds were so overwhelming then why engage in the first place?

Look I know what you say is logical.... but we have to break logic sometimes, for the sake of playability. If people were allowed to just disengage when the odds got tough, and then re-engage again when they regained their cajones (or more likely, bats/bots/equipment), then battles could last forever.

ps. Of course I'm talking to Vince here

switch, just take a look, what other players use again keepers.gb,cruisers,bs, so you think they will come out with 2 fighters? they need be strong to survive. they have no allies, except wilds.so they need to be realy strong.

and vince.when they chase you and you are escaping.and you stop and tehy open fire, you can fire back, because you was attacked. when they stop chase you and you escape, there is nothing to make.
