Trade Routes - Necromancer11 - 12-04-2011

I've just recently restarted here on Discovery within the past few weeks, and I'm having some trouble optimizing my profits. I tried mining for a while, but it was quite boring, and unlike trading, you actually had to pay attention and move around to hit those asteroid particles, so mining doesn't even give me the freedom to multitask. So then, I started to trade. I tried out a few routes that I heard about, but they didn't really work out, so I made my own. I trade refugees from Planet Leeds to Planet Erie, neon from Planet Erie to Cambridge Research Station, and pharmaceuticals from Cambridge Research Station to Planet Leeds. It's just not as profitable as I'd like though. I'd imagine there are other great trade routes out there, so I was wondering if some of you might be willing to share some trade routes with me. Thanks a lot in advance.

P.S. I prefer shorter routes.

What's your trader's RP? Do you fly under a corporation or as an independent? I have some Bretonian routes that are decent for a new player (that I used starting out) and some nice ones if you don't mind a medium length haul and are friendly with Rheinland.

Install it, load the game, check the settings for the program and have fun finding routes!

Don't use the smuggler ID.

Seriously. It doesn't give you anything more than the freelancer ID, and it'll get you in trouble with any police/navy you run into.

And smuggler ID is good, you aren't just bugged by pirates, but also lawfuls. It makes business more interesting and fun.

Using the FL companion only and not paying attention, where it sends you will only get you in trouble.

If you want to use it anyways, you will need to do a little bit of planning, like starting at one point, look for the best profitable route to piont 2 and so on, until you get back to point 1. You should then also pay attention, that you don't run through Guard systems, embargo zones or ultimate piracy hotspots (optimal, but not necesary [California, Ontario, Taus etc.]) or even pirate home systems (Gamma, Alpha).

Be sure, that all the goods you transport are legal, if you want to have no trouble with the authorities.

Good times. I remember taking my unarmored Percheron from Omicron-Delta to Gallia via Nomad worlds. My trip ended in Alpha. It was good fun though.
