Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Xenosaga - 12-05-2011 It's not like the Battleship class is overpowered in this mod, it has very, very strong counters. They're extremely slow and lack thrusters. So why no CDs for them, even Battlecruisers have them. They'll still be able to be outthrusted by smaller vessels. Currently, a Battleship has no method of stopping a fleeing enemy. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Tachyon - 12-05-2011 Balance. I guess it's been like that, so you will definetely need snubs for an effective engagement. EDIT: Example - You will need a CDing Fighter on your side, if you want to have a chance versus a bigger battleship. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Lunaphase - 12-05-2011 Battleship. Missles. They have a heavy CD effect on whatever they hit. They arent meant to be flown alone against smaller ships, think of them more like moving force-projection vessals who are meant to drastically add to the firepower of a fleet. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Xenosaga - 12-05-2011 Then take them from Destroyers and especially Battlecruisers too. The Energy drain in cruise is also huge, I think BSs are slightly overnerfed. I find it strange however, that the shipclass, that is supposed to have maximum authonomy in battle, needs so much support in order to be effective. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Lunaphase - 12-05-2011 Because the devs fear capspam despite the existence of the noobcannon known as the snac, and refuse to make caps appropriate for their size and vulnerability to anything fired in their direction. It basically comes down to bomber pilots wanting easy targets for anything they fight. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - stewcool - 12-05-2011 If you were around before they were "nerfed" you'd understand why. It used to be where they were everywhere. As Luna says, this way is now to prevent capspaming and to make it more real and tactical in the use of battleships, and make them easier targets. This is why I use mine now strictly for RP and nothing more. If someone tries to fight me I just flee, I can care less about the 4 hours of being out of a system. (do it like the Ven'gyr, it's awesome) Why do Battleships not have CDs? - mtjsmith - 12-05-2011 Because then you'll have battleships disrupting transports and gunboats/cruisers. Transports = Bad, every which way you look at it. Gunboats/Cruisers, as distance is their friend when fighting a bigger foe. Battleship cruises up to Cruiser, cruiser then can't escape as it's being CD'd. BS opens fire, cruisers dead. Why do Battleships not have CDs? - Jinx - 12-05-2011 to clear a few things up... - there has never been a capspam - not even in 4.83 - when primaries has a speed of 4.0 // 1600ms - CDs were taken away due to balance concerns - it has nothing at all to do with roleplay - those concerns were NOT alone based on the overpoweredness of battleships ( which was already recognized as false ) - but to encourage teamplay. - aside from the simple teamplay, which battleships are forced in..... it also gave cruisers a purpose, which were rather underused at that time. and one more thing it is never "the devs" - ... what you call "the devs" is a small scale mirror of the community. - and we all know that the community hardly ever speaks as one. Battleships must fly with support craft. They are not autonomous, and if they will fly alone they will get shred to pieces by bombers. Also Jinx, where the hell have you been? Are you telling me that 90% of the Liberty-Rheinland fights are not capspams? Corsairs vs Outcasts? |
