Internal Memo

Name: Kei Marwick: Captain of Yomi
Details:

Konichiwa. While continuing the preperation for launch of my test Anki my analysts stumbled upon a strange broadcast. One, Abdul.Alhazred was broadcasting a distress signal, but when queried responded with a query of his own. He asked about the CEO of Renzu before it's purchase by IND. Then he intimated that "she" was taken by some shadowy organization, perhaps the Wilde, and would be returning. Her return, according to this Abdul.Alhazred, would signal the "darkest of dark times". The broadcaster then asked that a Renzu ship, or any ship for that matter, go to Hokkaido to relay a data packet to a dormant AI. No information was given on what reactivating this AI would do, only a time limit of three days. This is above the paygrade of my analysts and myself, so I'm kicking it upstairs. The data packet is included in this memo, and as can be easily seen is strangely encoded.

Konichiwa. I've had time to think about the strange message my crew intercepted earlier. If there really is a dormant AI out by Hokkaido it might prove useful to Renzu. Who knows what technology we may find integrated into it or what breakthroughs could come from researching it. Is it possible that the company has assests other than my Yomi's modified sensor missiles that could investigate it?

Re: Suspicious incident
I appreciate your enthusiasm for the company, but it is out of our hands now. We will not interfere in the KSP investigation. Employee safety comes first, these events were very suspicious and could be dangerous. Thank you for sharing your ideas Marwick-san, but again, this is now out of our hands.

Yours Sincerely,

Shinji Takeda

Details:
This week has been very exciting for Renzu! I had the pleasure of taking the controls of our brand-new Ryuujin-class train, Sakura Maru! This hasn't been accomplished without hard work, of course. Over the last few weeks, the Logistics division has been transporting new scientists to our shipyard as well as other materials and resources as we ramp up to the biggest product showcase in our history.

We are now into the final stages of this fantastic project, and I would like to thank all of our dedicated employees for making this happen. We are entering a new era of prosperity, ladies and gentlemen! Keep up the excellent work.

Konichiwa,

Construction and fabrication is now coming to a close on my ship, Renzu|Yomi. With all of my immediate tasks seen to, I take this time to address my first course of research for Renzu.

Power production and consumption are of the utmost importance for "snub" craft. Were Renzu to find a means to lower power consumption and/or raise power production in it ships, then we would enjoy a significant advantage over our competitors. I believe a method for doing just this can be found in Bio-Mechanics. With permission, I would like to begain setting the ground work for the aquisition and testing of materials whithin this line of research.

Because of the nature of research, and the fact that results may come far in the future or not at all, it may be prudent to seak some means of funding. Perhaps some of the house governments and/or one of the larger megaconglomerates would be willing to aid in this matter. Finance is not my field of knowledge, so I can't begin to tell what is feasible in this regard. All I can say is that without said funding my research is in peril before it has begun.

Yours Sincerely,

Kei Marwick, Field Research Analyst.

Re: Research

Konichiwa,

I am pleased to see the launch of Yomi and am sure she will provide us with many years of reliable service. I am looking forward to the results of this research, I am sure we will get some benefit from it. As for the project costs, I think the IND may be able to help us with funding, if required. Our liquid assets are increasing slowly due to the setup costs we are encountering at this time, but cash flow will pick up pace in due course and we will be able to fund the research ourselves eventually if IND are not.

I hope this addresses your issues, Marwick-san.

Yours Sincerely,

Shinji Takeda
Chief Operating Officer, Renzu Corporation

Re: Recent Events

Konichiwa,

This is a status update on the Yomi and her crew. First and formost, we have made some progress in our research and development already. In the course of our research we found traditional Renzu sensor suites to be inadequate to the task. Simply put, our scanners did not have the strength to observe and document events from a safe distance. To remedy this we took the warhead and sensor suites out of one of our cruise disrupter missiles. We replaced them with a powerful broadbeam emitter and coms suite. After we were done we had room still within the missile's hull so we provided the new sensor drone with expanded longevity through the use of additional propellant. We have forwarded the specs to the rest of the research and development teams and already asked the Renzu labs to produce a small batch of the modified missiles for immediate field use.

We also encountered an alien being in our research near New Tokyo. The alien professed the need to "contact others" and then mentally assaulted Yomi's crew and myself. Abilene, my comstech and system analyst was attacked first and she suffered hemorrohages in her ears, eyes, and nose. Because of the constant mental attack we were unable to record any data on the attack or even determine where the alien was attacking us from. I believe that the alien was a nomad, because of it's speach patterns, but without any conclusive report it is just that, a belief.

A fellow researcher witnessed and even suffered the same type of attack as the Yomi and her crew. This researcher seemed to want to locate the alien for research purposes but was as debilitated as my crew and I. After the attack we discussed the matter, along with previous free use research. In the end I was impressed with the persons drive and enthusiasm and so directed them to the Renzu neural net to seak employment. However, after reviewing the memo the researcher sent to Renzu, I feel that I was in error to do so. I believe that I have dealt with the matter without further shaming myself or crew and hope such errors do not weaken Renzu's belief in my abilities.

Yours Sincerely,

Kei Marwick, Field Research Analyst, Member of the Board of Directors.

Internal Memo

Name:Saki Taiyou
Details:

Alright, I think it's time for a quick status report. My shiny new Touketsu fighter is now equipment and full supplied. Ready for escort service and short range exploration/research. My main ship, the "Namu", is still under construction. I'd ordered it a few months ago, and they told me, that it'll be ready for it's maiden flight in approximately 2-5 days.

Here's a picture of it, from the newest Renzu Ship Catalog:

Anyways, on my first flight with my Touketsu I'd talked with an Kusarian, who was looking forward for the new Renzu ships [Screen]. He was quite curious, what made me telling him some "small secrets" about the features of the new shipline. I guess it was ok, since he's a loyal Renzu products buyer.

A few hours later, when I was doing some doing some ship model drawings onboard my Anki freighter (which will be changed to the ordered liner), I got an attestor of a piracy try, right in front of Planet New Tokyo, I helped the two Samura traders without hesitation. Whereupon the pirate ran [Screen].

After that, I acitvated the autopilot, and went down to deck E3, to the engine room for a quick checking. And when I was on my way back to the cockpit, my freigther got under heavy fire. I didn't knew what it exactly was, but it seemed like something or someone was just about to destroy my ship! When the shields went down, I sprinted to the cockpit. Just a few seconds before I arrived - there was silence.
Then I heard an explosion from the engine room. Immediately I checked my hull systems, and they showed me some major damage. Then it went all quite fast - more explosions, fire in the lower decks, smoke came up to the cockpit. I took my drawings and some other valuable stuff and entered the rescue capsule.
Minutes later, I found myself save in the hands of an Kusari Naval Forces Cruiser Captain, who saw my rescue capsule floating near Planet Tokyo.

Luckily, the fire didn't reached the powercore in the end, and the Police where be able to salvage the damaged ship. Well, I was going to exchange that ship anyways, so it was no huge loss.

Here are two onboard pictures which survived the fire. I'd also managed to recover the saved communication system entries, which got recorded during my absence in the machine room.

File 2

That was all so far.
