People Power - mtjsmith - 12-28-2011 The Insurgent fighters hung like bats, ever watchful over Volgograd and Gorodok and ever waiting. In a few days, the KSD Insurgent Models that were not destroyed in their final combat missions would either be turned over to the local Militsya forces or stripped for parts. All Partisan and Revolution fighters were to be completely stripped of parts for the Revolutionary Army. In a few days, the Coalition could bare it's teeth once more. In space, the pilots chirped messages to one another on their patrol. Life seemed so simple in space. Any intruder into Omega-52 was dealt with by extreme predatory force. Combat missions were a way of life and the pilots knew that politics was a game played by fools and men whom war could not kill. The new Premier of the Coalition, Chun Ki Ling was such a man. The next few days would make or break his Premiership. Gallic forces were amassing for a punch strike into Kusari and Bretonia. The XKR project, which he had thrown the whole economy behind to speed up production of, was still a few days away. This worried the Premier, as the Corsairs had also been spotted building up forces once more. All the while, the people continued to cry and mourn over Katz. The people were crying out much more than he had thought and it had been gnawing at his mind since he was given power. How could anyone step into Katz's shoes? He had been such a pragmatic leader, it was almost as though he was worshipped. He wrote several paragraphs, jotting down his inner most thoughts and permutations. "The Commandante openly rebukes me, The people do not seem to care much for me, despite my generous offers. I am at a loss on what to do. No-one said power would be an easy sword to wield but the odds are certainly stacked against me.
The Premier felt the anger rose in him once more, last felt when he tried to lead the Coalition in the days after the Radek disaster. He steadied himself, before writing his next paragraph. The deadline nears for the end of the Public Mourning for Premier Katz. If anything, this.. protest.. grows. The people are talking in whispers that Katz is actually alive. That he is waiting for his time to strike and retake his position. I have never been one for believing hearsay and rumour and I will not begin now!" "I have men loyal to me, and several detachments of KSD fighters now out-rigged for planetary operations. If the people will not disperse, they will be made to. I tire of these open rebukes to my authority and power. Enough is enough."
People Power - mtjsmith - 12-29-2011 Mere hours before Deadline day, and "Premier" Ling was packing his few valuables while his men held the garrison at the People's Palace. The people were screaming and shouting "Katz is alive, Death to the imposters!" louder and louder. The wire fences and perimeter around the Palace began to take hits from rocks, shoes and bottles as the people surged forward and the Militysa pushed back. Like a single spark amongst the dry hay, forewarned by Premier Katz himself, events tumbled out of control. A burst of gunfire from a scared Militysa troop saw several civilians cut down. The mourning civilians quickly became a mob, charging at the troops, beating them half to death and stealing their weapons. They threw themselves towards the Peoples Palace as the frightened Militysa knew not what to do. A man stood up above the barricades and pointed his gun in the air, assuming some sort of Mob Leader. He yelled, "Death to Ling! Death to Rhade! Death to the traitors!" Premier Ling rushed to the rooftop, where a Storm gunboat awaited him. "Get me to the Havana and tell the Commandante to have only his most loyal and most trusted with him. His neck is on the line too unless we can negotiate a path out of this. |
