Slaver ID - Wraga - 01-05-2012

Since I'm one of the few, who likes the slaver kind RP, I was so unhappy when I saw the new slaver ID. It cant let the player to act as an active slaver, just as a "transporter", so formally the same like the smuggler ID.

The slaver kind RP is builded up by hunting humans and enslave them. After that they could sell them for sure, but by the restrictions the first step will be missing, what will makes players to avoid to use it.

Another thing is coming from the first one, but not so important than that. Its the ship usage restriction. Since there are Freelancers, Mercs who can use gunboat class ships, I dont really understand why is there a restriction for the Slavers.

I think it comes from the "acting resctriction" but since its "beta time", I would like to discuss this with others, and if most of you agree, request a change about the Slaver ID.

Any kind of opinion is welcomed.

Thanks

Gunboat restriction makes sense. As a slaver, the small cargo hold of a gunboat doesn't do you any good in terms of catching/transporting slaves...

No, but it allows you to hunt them down with more firepower and take them back to a larger transport.

I was just thinking about how essential piracy is to slavers. I can't figure out why it was deleted from Slaver ID : The Pilgrim Liner actually has a CD just for that after all, and slave sale points are not so common ; It would make perfect sense to actually have the ability to abduct people from other transports, and to that end, the slaver needs to be able to threaten his target. Which can't be done anymore due to ID restrictions.
So yes, point taken there.

Though, regarding the GB... I don't see a clear reason why it's restricted, but I can understand why it is. GBs are primarily intended for fighting purposes, not the kind of operation slavers indulge in. They already have the slave liner which does the job at intimidating their preys and carrying off their spoils.

Wait, Slavers can't enslave anymore? Isn't that, you know, what the ID was? Otherwise you're just a smuggler after all.

Yes, to demanding people, dunno bout gunboats. At the moment why use slaver ID when you can use pirate ID? Not good to have a useless nerfed ID.

Well, as a Slaver player, I do have to say this:

I AM slightly concerned by the fact that we can no longer demand human cargo from traders.

I'm also concerned that we can now be engaged simply for bearing the Slaver ID. (That might not be new but, I don't remember it being on the old ID). I think this alone will stomp on a lot of RP during your average interaction. People will go "SLAVER ID PEWPEWPEW" regardless of what said player's character has to say for themselves now, because "Oh hey their ID said I could do it".

I do not however think that Slavers need Gunboats. the Pilgrim Liner combined with a couple bombers is scary enough.
