Rebalancing the Falcata into a heavy bomber - Mímir - 01-16-2012

Hi with the introduction of the Cutlass, the Falcata is all but obsolete. Same number of guns, same powerplant, far more agile and only slightly(-ish) less armored. Already Outcasts are changing to Cutlasses big time.

So my suggestion is to refit the Falcata with the Praetorian power plant, make it equally slow while keeping the armor. That way the Outcast will have a heavy anti-cap/defensive bomber available, which they could certainly use with all the foreign capships hell-bent on invading Alpha atm, without it being overpowered compared to the Corsair counterpart. This change would give the Falcata a purpose again, without tipping the balance.

uhm the Cutlass isnt "far more agile".... its "slightly" more agile.

Ive flown the falcatta a long time and when i exchanged it for a Cutlass the difference was nothing but minor.... perhaps it is faster, but it certainly dont FEEL faster

The point is that Outcasts have now access to 2 almost equall sabre-based bombers.
Turning Falcata into a middle bomber seems to be great.

I disagree. I have a character with a falcata and a character with a cutlass atm, and when I swap between them, the difference is very noticeable.

But as sava said, the point is the OC have two somewhat similar bombers suited for similar tasks (where the cutlass imo outclasses the falcata as a light skirmish and/or pirate bomber), and if anything could use a bomber with the heavy power plant to defend Malta against all the capship assaults we're dealing with on a daily basis.

Like I said before, make the Cutlass a very light bomber [mamouru like OMG PLEASE] and the Falcata a very heavy one [barghest like]

Yeah, but with (for bombers) paper-like armor and openly accessible, problem ?

Don't get why they didn't just removed the Falcata.
I'd say just make it heavier and give it more energy and armor.
But not a 2 SNAC/Torp + 1 CD slot bomber. That would make the Corsairs cr...ehm, unhappy.

whyd they add the cutlass, when they already had the simillar falcata?

You guys are forgetting... one is an open BW ship, the other is a dedicated OC snub.

So it would do nothing new you're saying?:D
