Scanner Jammers/Disruptors (Somewhat a stealth mode) - MetalPheonix - 01-29-2012

So, What if there was some sort of stealth system? First off, Would it be possible?
Not invisibilty, Perhaps Scanner Jammers? That will allow anyones scanners to pick you up for a short period of time at the cost of loads of energy. Somewhat like cruise mode, No firing your weapons while it's engaged and it will drain your energy(also cannot activate cruise mode while jammer in effect). It's probably more geared towards fighters or non-combat vessels, seeing as how it would theoretically drain your energy. There are a few Advantages and Disadvantages, I'll post the ones I could think of add to the list if you come up with any other ideas

Advantage(s)
-Smugglers: Could pass by a large group of lawful forces Undetected.
-Lawful forces: Quick stealth attacks on enemy nations(Probably fighters only). Perhaps even recon missions?
-Pirates: Make get-aways in asteroid fields or clouds. WITHOUT being tailed for thirty-minutes.
-Miners: Pirates will actaully have to LOOK for you

Disadvantage(s)
-Military/Police: Law enforcing get's more difficult
-Traders: Won't see the pirates coming
-Pirates: Have more difficulty liberating our funds in non-tradlane areas

All would agree that this is decent Idea- but damn hard to implement. I would go slow on it and think about how to bring it with working balanced not abuse-able form, wait for 4.86 final release to see how the clocks and jump drives will work after then take the experience from them and propose some working options to the dev team.

Atum is already almost untargetable, not visible on scanners or navmap. I wonder if the same thing could be done with moving player ships, but it's unlikely

Isnt this like the cloaking devices?
