The Abyss on Holmfirth Depot - farmerman - 03-01-2012 A cold, misty air hung in the air of the series of rooms on the lower decks of Holmfirth Depot affectionately dubbed "The Abyss". The low gravity combined with a steady breeze, estimated by some to be approximately 5%-10% of that on Planet Cambridge, caused the Gilded Ferns of Gaia that grew from the walls to wave lazily in a way reminiscent of seaweed on the ocean plain. The thick banks of fog, which were caused by the bar being located between the secondary power relay system and the outer edges of the station, tended to drift by lazily as well, though the bar was always clear owing to the many fans located there for just that reason. While containing several small rooms, it was still a bit on the small side, which greatly annoyed the proprietor, Will. Nonetheless, he was prepared for business. The bar was stocked with the both the finest and cheapest Gallic wines, Gaian Absinthe, Rheinlandic beers of all sorts, and even some fancy sake from Kusari. All manner of other luxuries, both legal and not, were also available at the locale - for a fee proportional to the risk involved in acquiring it, of course. Even hypno-tainment bands from Gallia were starting to show up, though due to their scarcity and demand they cost a pretty credit indeed. Even special graviton field generating glasses were available at the bar so that the patron's drinks didn't float off with an untimely bump. Many, but not all, of the tables in the place were equipped with similar graviton field generators to better enable patrons to sit in more comfortable environments. The Abyss on Holmfirth Depot - farmerman - 03-01-2012 Dan McKay entered the misty halls of the Abyss and walked toward the bar where his friend Will sat. He passed a table containing several Gaians he knew as well as one seating a pair of what looked to be Junkers. Both groups seemed to be enjoying themselves, so Dan hoped another group of Hogosha didn't choose that moment to come in. They never got along with the Junkers. "Hey Dan, whatcha want?" Will asked, gesturing to a barstool. "Just a cup of tea for now," Dan replied. "I'm scheduled to help check out the Windbirds Refuge's engines after this. Don't want to be distracted." "Alright then, here you are." Will slid a cup over the bar to his friend. "Think you'll be busy today?" Dan asked. "We'll see, we'll see," Will said as he poured himself a small glass of Gaian Absinthe and toasted the holoscupture that was next to the bar, which depicted a giant Gaian Raptor eating a small model of a Luxury Liner. The Abyss on Holmfirth Depot - Stefan - 03-10-2012 The time Jacob took from leaving his Claymore at his place to the bar was less than five minutes. He used came to Holmfirth to only request repairs, but this time he thought on stopping by the bar. Long time he had done anything other than flying and planning. As he stepped through the door a few eyes turned, most of them not recognizing his jovial looks. Jacob still dressed as a 80's punk rockers from Earth, although he was already close to his 30's. He quite enjoyed the style, that much was clear. Sunglasses taken off he moved through the low mist, heading to the bar, barely shaking heads with McKay on the way. "Gaian Absynthe, two blocks of ice, don't add sugar. Oh and add a Basil leaf, will ya?" Said the punk to the barkeep as he slowly face back. "It's a nice place you have here McKay, real nice." "Kinda reminds me of home." He laughed alone on his own joke. Although McKay probably didn't know, Jacob was a Londoner. That place was nothing like New London. |
