Faction Benifits? - Azan27 - 03-05-2012 Ok, I acutally have two questions regarding factions, specifically, official factions. Let's say that me and seven other guys play Disco a lot, mainly on indie characters, but are looking into joining or making a faction. 1) What are the benifits of joining an official faction? 2) What are the benifits of having an official faction of your own? (Basically, forming your own faction and gaining officialdom) Also, on a side note, what's the process nessicary to create a non-canon faction with its own ID and IFF? Is it the same as creating a canon faction? Is it harder? Faction Benifits? - ryoken - 03-05-2012 ' Wrote:Ok, I acutally have two questions regarding factions, specifically, official factions. They have "rank" over indies albut a little limited. As for making your own own non vanila faction the admins have said no more of that. As for making an Official faction from Vanila NPCs you need to pick one no one else has used, as 1 Official faction per group now. Also you need 500mil to get admins to look at your faction proposal. Faction Benifits? - Jeremy Hunter - 03-05-2012 The "rank over indies" is the faction's leader and SiC spot(s). As for any sort of control over indie's, the control extends for as far as the indies allow it ;) Faction Benifits? - Veygaar - 03-05-2012 ' Wrote:As for making your own own non vanila faction the admins have said no more of that.Where? You are (usually) respected and looked up to - I get a few newb questions from time to time by PM when I fly high-level tagged ships. Even if you're not the leader, you get the advantages of Faction Rights by proxy. There's also a recognition of responsibility, too; other official factions will be interested in working with you more than if you're an anonymous group. 2) The benefits of your "own" faction are basically the possibility of your own ship line, in some cases, but most importantly the freedom to have near-absolute control over the direction of your Roleplay. It is much, much harder than developing a canon official faction. The process can usually be measured in years. In the current climate of Disco, creating a non-canon official faction would be a very difficult process. The chief things are being visible and present (ie. consistently active) and the group should overall be aspiring to certain standards which lead to positive encounters (for all players, not just the faction). Faction Benifits? - Reid - 03-05-2012 If you're in an official faction you have friends to play with, and things you can achieve (ranks, ship access, power, etc) So if you're an inde, you're on your own and that's boring Faction Benifits? - Jeremy Hunter - 03-05-2012 ' Wrote:If you're in an official faction you have friends to play with, and things you can achieve (ranks, ship access, power, etc) Well, on the flipside, Indies can do a bit more RP and have a few more options, and have friends. The downside though, is you can't really influence anything. Factions are nothing more then groups of players working together. In this respect, an official faction like the [LN] are no different from an unofficial group of pirates cooperating to do some piracy. 2: Official faction rights, see the factions forum. You get a limited amount of control over your independent players (don't try to abuse it - that's one sure way of losing those rights) and if available, NPCs belonging to your faction. You also get a say in the direction your faction goes in as the mod develops - if developing that lore holds an interest to you and your proposals don't upset the storyline as a whole. 3: See the factions forum. The process is documented. You basically need a group of players, a sensible proposal and 500 mil. Creating a new faction for an NPC faction that already has an official faction (say, a new official Lib Navy) is not allowed. Faction Benifits? - Friday - 03-05-2012 Take a look at the faction activity list...plenty of factions about ready to fall over. The time is ripe for a takeover! |
