Your questions are of course understandable ones, Captain, I will try to answer as precise as now possible.
First of all, a friendly relation with another, foreign, group of people can't ever harm, especially, when that means a safer passage through one of your (seemingly) most important trade routes.
Furthermore, relations with the Lane Hackers may open you a new market within Sirius; not to forget our operatives have access to things you don't.
Also, the new situation considering Gallia, Bretonia and Liberty has drawn my personal interest and soon the Professor's ones. You might act as a source of information there, just as we can offer you intel from space you aren't as familiar with.
Another point I would like to mention is, that having a clear relationship will lead to less missunderstandings and unwanted hostilities - we both know those are only counterproductive.
