Im glad to see this has cleared all the lawyers and is actually going to be made. Its nice that its also directed by Peter Jackson so it will have the same feel as the Ring trilogy but I have to admit I would have liked to have seen what Guillermo del Toro could have done with it, especially the creatures.

The Hobbit is probably my favourite book. It was certainly the first proper book I can remember reading (I was about 8), and I fell in love with it. I used to mark inside the cover of my first copy every time I read it, and by the time it fell apart I'd read the book over 30 times. I've lost count of how many times I've read it now, some 30+ years on.
Given the fantastic job Jackson did with transcribing Lord of the Rings to the screen, I'm really hopeful The Hobbit will be equally excellent. I'll be in the queue as soon as it comes out, that's for sure

I re-read the Hobbit and LOTR a few months ago, and I just watched the movies over the weekend. I gotta say, the LOTR movies are probably some of the best book to movie conversions out there. I have high hopes for The Hobbit movie.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are among the greatest books I have ever read. Tolkein is amazing. It's even more interesting to review his background and his work with the Inklings.

Yes, The Hobbit, tells the story of how Bilbo found the ring that Frodo had to destroy. One of the Dwarves in the story is the father of Gimli from The Lord of the Rings.
