Getting rammed in a trade lane - spec - 04-10-2008
I've noticed this a few times. I'm travelling via a trade lane and a pirate has disabled the lane, so I come out
and fend off the pirates/or just wait till the lane is active, then I try to rejoin.
Just before I rejoin, other traffic is already passing through the lane, so one of the ships hits me and
takes down half of my shield !!!
How is that possible ! There are no traffic lights on the trade lane also:(
Since I had a trader, it was only my shields which were scratched, imagine someone in a smaller craft...
roadkill.. or should i say lanekill.....
Has anyone been through this ?

here is the really unfair side of it - those inside the lane are "ghosts" , they can fly through solid objects without harm. - mind, they can still hit YOU. yea, its a bit annoying especially when you wanne dock with something big like a liner - but i think its OK. they cannot really kill you ( unless there are two convoys passing quickly after one another. )
not really a big issue though, i think.

What makes me twitch is when ships gleefully pass through a trade lane that I've been keeping nice and disrupted for them.
Not only is it rude of them to do so, given the time and energy I've put into making sure they've a ready spot to kick their feet up... But when I go to follow them I can't because the dang tradelane is disrupted!
I can only imagine that it's some sort of lag thing.

I guess that's a lag issue, FL is always a bit laggy when docking and going through/stopping at tradelanes.

Well it's a bit irritating, once I got kicked to the other side of the lane and I took it in the wrong direction....

Disrupt the lane once you see your soon-to-be-prey on scanners. Works always and you don't have bothering NPCs dropping out of the lane.

There is a somthing somewhere that allows you to travel through disrupted tradelanes...
But its like the speed mod...your screwed if you use it.:cool:

I remmember one day I was flying my transport to Manhatten, and meet an LSF at west point. He went through the lane, me very soon after. He left the lane at manhatten, and When i got out, I hit his ship and took his shields down. I took no damage.
That made me nervous that he thought i attacked him.

Yeh It happened to me when I was setting up a new RoS char and it was still in a bloody starflea. It was nasty, I ended up splattered all over the front of someone's battlecruiser.

One problem is that if you go in too close the person will sit at the other end and then you come out and accidentally hit them. But you have to be following them basically like in a convoy.
