FLServer random crashes etc. - Tanamir - 03-26-2012
Hi all,
My name is Tanamir and I run a discovery server that I need help with. My server is running 4.84 and I host the server on a 64 bit machine that is running virtual box so I can run a base WinXP install to run Freelancer on. It sounds confusing, but I find that I can at least run the server this way... For example, If I install WinXP with the service packs and I try to run the Freelancer server, it just hangs and won't run ( the server starts and then it freezes with the word "Loading" rolling across the top of the server window). So my server will run the way I configure it but I have stability issues, that being the server will randomly crash on me ( usually when I am in the middle of a new system searching for stuff... all of a sudden up comes the symbol for a bad connection, flashing yellow at first then going to red indicating that the connection is lost. So I run up to my server computer and I look at the server window and it SEEMS to be fine, but when I shut it down it doesn't close properly and then the Microsoft notice pops up and says: Freelancer has encountered a problem and needs to close.... GRRRRRRRR....... So I restart the server and sometimes its OK for a while ( a day, sometimes two or three ) other days, like today, it seems to crash constantly ( four times in about two hours) I want to know if there is a fix for the server problem or if there is a program that monitors the server and keeps it running. I have also tried to run 4.85 but wasn't able to see my server on the list to logon, why???
