--- Recruitment Center --- History: -Unknown Our ancestors and the War of Sol. -Unknown The foundation of Latium vetus. -Unknown The expansion of the Latium Vetus and the first social conflicts. -814AS The meeting with the Huns and our collapse. -819AS The attack of the Nomads and the new beginning. All the history of the faction can be find here. Introduction My name is Lucius Aurelius and I'm the Lead Consul of the Latins. We are refugees who fled from our home, Latium, after a devastating war against the faction of the Huns. Despite the courage of my people, we were defeated and the few remaining survivors escaped away. There were 20 ships, all transports. We wandered for 5 long years for the universe, looking for a new home, when we reached the system called omicron Iota. Here, we were attacked by a strange and unknown faction. Since 'we were totally helpless, we split into groups to increase our possibility of survival and my convoy went in Omicron Delta through a jumphole. Our group was almost completely damaged and the enemy ships were reaching us, when a group of Zoner convoys, seeing us in trouble, hit 'nomads with a massive attack and brought us to safety. In gratitude, we decided to join the Zoner and to respect their rules and covenants. We also decided to start here, in Sirius, the foundations to give a new prosperity to our faction. Our social order was a Republic, and as leader, my job will be to recover the refugees dispersed in the Omicrons for founding the new Republic of Latium. Goals Our primaly roule is founding a new Republic of Latium. To meet this roule, we need to comply seven goals: 1. Find our missing comrades in omicrons. 2. Exploring Sirius to see our new home and establish relationships with factions who live here. We explored Omicrons and Omega systems, so we're heading in the House spaces. 3. Accumulate wealth with commercial traffics. 4. Building outposts to facilitate commercial traffics. 5. Provide consumer goods and capital goods to our people living in Freeports. 6. Because we lost all our technology, we need to access to a new one. We'll try get it with our diplomacy. 7. To secure our people by nomads, destroy their ships in omicrons. Diplomacy Because we are new in the political scene, our diplomacy may change. Now we are allied with Zoners, so we will try to be friendly with all their allies, but we also want to create our own diplomacy. Reputation Allied: Zoner Friendly: none Neutral: everyone else Enemy: Nomad and Wild Tag: [RoL]name Primary ID: Freelancer IFF: Zoner Allowed ships All civilian ships with less than 3600 cargo. The Republic of Latium - Recruitment Center - Diomedes - 04-04-2012 Legatus Luceiia Corvus (Praetor) Age: 32 Bio: Luceiia is smart, and her history shows it. Back in Latium Vetus, she grew up much as any child, getting a good education and eventually pursuing a career in the Latin fleets. She identified closely with the ideals of the Nova Roma, but her own rise to rank showed some of the key differences between this new order in Latium Vetus and the ancient Roman Empire. Through her career she served honorably, quickly rising through the ranks while conducting missions of exploration and more subtle actions against the Imperium Society. While being trusted with commands in the field, she also ensured she was trained with a background in technical matters, politics and diplomacy. All three were as essential as fighting ability on exploration runs, and though she might not have the pure ability of a true engineer or senator, she could talk to the former and easily keep pace with the later. Then the Huns came, and all-out war became the order of the day. Luceiia had the command of a small cohort, using both space and ground action to deadly effect. She had a knack for picking out the critical points the enemy showed and striking them. The military rewarded her with the promotion to Legate, and command of a full battle group. But, this was not to last for the war was turning. The Huns were gaining the upper hand and no military cunning could outdo the Imperium Society's plotting from within. Luceiia's group paid special attention to foiling the Imperials, but to no avail. Finally, the order came for the Nova Roma to evacuate and search for new lands yet again. Luceiia was given command of the protection for that journey. This was a task she both swore her life to, and yet left her bitter too. Hers was a military family, her brother Daedalus was already dead in the fighting. Her mother refused to come, staying with her father Rufio, who had his own command in the rear guard that would cover the exit of the fleeing Nova Roma. The rear guard would not come out of Latium Vetus, but fight to the end. Thus events saw Luceiia come to be a part of the convoy across the stars, and eventually to that fateful attack where the Nomads engaged the remnants of Latium Vetus. She fought hard, and had her people well organized, but only the Zoner sortie saved them from certain doom. No Luceiia continues to protect and serve the remaining Nova Roma and the new Republic of Latium. Harsh vengeance she has sworn again the Huns and Imperium Society should she ever encounter them, and now the Nomad born as well for their cowardly attack. Luceiia knows more than anyone that the first step to vengeance is knowledge of the enemy. Personality: Luceiia is smart, adaptable and unafraid to take a chance. She can be stern, but does not denounce whimsy. A joke or a smile keeps one sane on campaign. Luceiia's word is iron, on her honour she would never break a promise. Somehow she balances this with the often subtle world of politics and covert operations. She understands the difference between keeping a promise, and not lying. The legate is also somewhat slow to trust, though she cannot doubt the at least partial good will of the Zoners who would risk their own safety to save unknown refugees. What happens now is yet to be written in the history of Latium Vetus, but here the nation is reborn. //Edits will be forthcoming as I get a better idea how I'll fit in. I was unsure if I should include a military rank as well as the title Praetor. If this all looks good, I'll go ahead and assemble a ship. The Republic of Latium - Recruitment Center - Khassym - 04-04-2012 ' Wrote://Edits will be forthcoming as I get a better idea how I'll fit in. I was unsure if I should include a military rank as well as the title Praetor. If this all looks good, I'll go ahead and assemble a ship. Looks all nice. Also ''legate'' can be a nice rank. Our rank structure is still in progress and I think when we'll have more members there will be new ranks like this. A new (military) rank structure can be something like: consules (triumvirate's member), legate, praetor. Place of Birth: Taormina Height: 172 cm Weight: 68 kg Biography Born during the year 801 A.S. in the city of Taormina, Silas was born into the family of Labeo. At a young age Silas showed a severe but tactical mind, rarely accommodating anarchy Silas created a clear divide from many of a similar age group at that time. His grandfather a high standing member of the senate in Latium Silas believed he had a role to up hold and focused hard in carving out an image of himself appropriate to his grandfathers fame. Due to his work in the capital Silas never got any great lengths of time to meet his grandfather and instead relied on his father for his guidance. His father was a senior centurion, eager to show his son the discipline needed to survive in Latium his father often took Silas under his wing while leading the men under him. Through his years under his father tutor-age Silas's severe attitude was shaped to one focused on control and discipline. By the age of seventeen Silas, with a key word from his father, managed to achieve the immediate rank of Optio in Latium's legions. With his position Silas was often given the task of discipling men under the Centurions authority. In this area he made himself stand out as showing no sympathy for any under the punishment's enacted by his leading officer, be it simple injury or as extreme as decimation. One notable event during his time as a Optio was when Silas was ordered by a senior centurion to deal with some citizens who had revolted against the recent tax increases because of the Hun expansion. The citizens had retreated to a woodland area which stretched for several miles. Lacking the man power to search the woods fully Silas order his men to rain fire down on the forest and flush the rebels out. It worked and when the few rebels that survived escaped the forest begging for their lives, surrendering to the power of Latium Silas ordered that the be crucified in the name of Latium. By the age of eighteen, shortly following the events with the rebels the Huns made their fatal push onto the capital planet of Latium. In the array of chaos and anarchy Silas was separated from his family as he was taken away to the convoys departing the planet. His grandfather, a legate, lead the last resistance lines against the hordes of huns. He failed, unable to control his own men the lines of men under his command broke and routed, finally when all was lost the last legacy he left to his family was his own retreat from the lines, only to be hunted down later. This dishonour remained as burning image within Silas's mind of how important discipline is, both by those you lead and those you trust. The fates of his other close relatives, mother and father are unknown although it is suspected that his father, given his position would have been moving with the final resistance lines down on the planets surface. As to his mother it is suspected to have been lost of one of the convoy ships. ...Record #14523 Uploaded... It is clear that this.. It is true that the populace of this Sirius are very alienis, most of all their lingua is one which I am having trouble accommodating myself to. Although with the wide ordinata of these Siriusian willing to sell their services on the language for mere bones. It is purgare that this populace have much to discere, since their culture appears to show nothing but that of animalia. As to these Nomads, it is verum that these creatures are a constant solliciti on my mind. Although despite this danger we have managed to find safety, if to the calamitas of falling into these arms of such a barbaric Sirius populace. We must be cautus not to fall into a similar fate as befell our confratribus on our homeland. A Cinis Nos Numquid Surge Vale Silas Labeo ...Transmission Ended...

Also nomads can show an instinctive attitude of destruction, but their technology is highly developed. We can not judge any population without having first a real contact with them. Indeed I think we can learn something from each population, more or less developed than it is. Remember this: their technology will be our technology. We will not be more simply Latins. ::Ending transmission:: The Republic of Latium - Recruitment Center - Arctic95 - 04-12-2012 ...Incoming Transmission...

ID: Legatus Luceiia Corvus Subject: Progress Welcome back Tribune. Of course we cede to the wishes of the Senate, for that is our duty. But I suggest you check your attitude. The Sirians may not be wholly cultured in our eyes, but we are in no position of strength. Callousness, rashness and idiocy means my pilots need to fight and die, something we can ill afford. Dulce decorum est pro patria mori, but it is also true that dulce bellum inexpertis. There are times for harsh action Tribune, but now is not it. Look deeper, learn what you can from the Sirians even if their culture does not wholly agree with us. I would rather somewhat uncouth but loyal friends bordering us than raving enemies. Remember we are Nova Roma, not the ancient Roma themselves. Latium Vetus and indeed the old republic flourished on knowledge, organization and discipline. Arrogance failed both. But this is a discussion best left to other channels. Let us not interrupt those who may still be trying to contact us here. If you must, we may continue this in the regular communication channel.
