Lee's Diary - Pilot of the Narcotic - Narcotic - 04-20-2012

Date: 2 June 819
System: New Berlin
Location: Planet New Berlin, in my hotelroom.
Topic: Side trip into the Sigmas.

The Sigmas. Home territroy of the Gas Miners Guild. This place is full of history. Though, I've rarely been here before. People say, that this place is crowded by pirates, who hide inside the debris fields, remains of the once-proud Rheinland Imperial fleet, which got beaten in an ambush by the GMG in the 80-year war. Anyways, I took the trade lane through the Crow Nebula to Helgoland. From there, ALG Waste Disposal, salvages and cleans-up the affected area near Yanagi Depot.
At the end of the next lane, I passed a GMG base, the Gas Miner Naha, where I refilled my tanks with 41 tons of fresh mined H-Fuel for just 29,930 credits. Quite cheap I must say. After that, I moved on to the Honshu jumpgate. But since it wasn't my intention to enter Kusari space - I located the Sigma-19 jumphole and moved towards it, through a dangerous gas field.

Moving through a dangerous gas field.

Arrived there, I found myself in a simliar gas field again. I flew by another Gas Miner - called Ogashawa, which lied in the middle of the Hiryu Cloud. From there, I noticed a huge beatiful blue gas giant. My nav map told me, that there's a Luxury Liner in the orbit of Planet Hiran. I flew there and docked at the Orbital Spa and Cruise's Liner 'Hawaii'.

View of the Sigma-19 system.

From the bar I had an amazing view of the whole Sigma-19 system. What a clever place to run a Luxury Liner. I wonder how they handle the presence of the Outcasts and Corsairs in this system. However, I had some repairs on my ship, and undocked from the Liner, on my way into the Gikka Dust Cloud, since an employee of the OS&C gave me the hint to have a look at the 'flower-like formations - the Gikka "dust blossoms". Wonderful. Eventhough I met a Corsair convoy there, hauling artifacts to Omicron Eta... Hm funny. I'm just four jumps away from Omicron Alpha. I displaced that thought quickly and entered Sigma-59.

And that's what I saw first:

Planet Nagaoka.

Impressive, isn't it? I'm afraid, that I fell in love with that planet's appearance. His color was so... 'mesmerizing'! But that feeling got disrupted, as suddendly a GMG contact appeared on my scanners. Almost automatically I engaged my cloaking device and ran towards the Sigma-17 jumphole. How careless I've been, entering a guard system, without checking my scanners frequently.

In Sigma-17, I entered the Nemuro Dust Field, where the Atka Research Station was located. Run by Cryer Pharmaceuticals, with the purpose to study the Alien Organisms commonly found in the Edge clouds. In the bar, I listened to some rumors: I've heard, that Cryer hired Bounty Hunters, for protection and to get live Outcasts as test subjects to run experiments on. How distasteful, that's worse than slavery! I controled my anger on them, for debasing my brothers and sisters, and left this inhuman place again. (Before they found out, that I'm an maltese-origin man, who could be used as 'laboratory rabbit' for some cardamine tests!) without hesitation, I jumped back to Sigma-13.

Sigma-17.

On my way to the Frankfurt jumpgate. I noticed a group of pirates near the gate, waiting for some poor traders and travelers to cut their throats. I decided to avoid any interaction with them and entered Luneburg as alternative route to Frankfurt.

A system, owned by the Bundschuh, a 'splitted' populist political faction, if you want so. Luneburg contains a small base and two uninhabited planets. Not much to see here, so I jumped to Frankfurt.

Luneburg, owned by the Bundschuh.

Back in Frankfurt, at the edge of the Taunusfeld, I took course to Planet Holstein. And from there, I took the lanes back to Planet New Berlin, where I terminated my small exploration tour for now. I must admit, that the Sigmas have some interesting stories on stock. But still, I've been glad when I arrived back at Planet New Berlin, looking forward to my 'gemütliches Zimmer', like you say in rheinlandish.

Lee's Diary - Pilot of the Narcotic - Narcotic - 04-25-2012

Date: 5 June 819
System: Koeln
Location: Heisenberg Research Station, in the Heisenberg Pub.
Topic: On a secret mission to Koeln.

After spending a few days on Planet New Berlin, I recieved an encrypted message in form of a small PDA, from the Heisenberg Research Station in Köln:

Quote:
Dear Mr. Verde,

my name is David Campell, I'm an independant scientist, with specialist area in alien communication. This kind of research is strictly forbidden in Rheinland, and you might wonder now, why I'm telling you all that. We don't know each other. But I've heard some rumors about you and your origin. And you appear to be a trustworthy young explorer. Just the man I need for my newest project. I ask you to do a favor for me: Bring me a couple of Alien remains - also known as Nomad Brains. That's not an easy task, and I understand, if you're sceptical. But I promise you, that you'll be rewarded. It'll be worth it.

We'll meet at the bar on Heisenberg, tomorrow evening. I'll wear a white lab coat with red parts. Don't speak with anyone about that message.

Sincerly yours,

Prof. David Campell

PS: This message will destroy itself in sixty seconds.

After I nearly burned my hands, I left New Berlin in a hurry. I had no time to waste, since I only had 24 hours left, to gain those alien brains, probably in the Omicrons again, and then get to that Research Station in Köln.

When I've been about to pass the lane at Battleship Strausberg, I noticed several transports docked at Bonn Station, they appeared to be person transports from the Rheinland Military. It looked like they'd evacuating Interspace Commerce employees from the station. I don't really wanted to know what has been going on there...

Battleship Strausberg next to Bonn Station.

So I traveled through the Omegas to Omicron Kappa again, and I managed to gain a few alien remains quickly, without any troubles. And I left the Omicrons again, as fast as I entered them.

Back to Stuttgart at Station, I finally took the lane to the Köln jumpgate.

Koeln system.

Köln. Discovered just 69 years ago. Being quite a 'new' system of Rheinland. The trade lanes in this system haven't got finished yet, so I engaged my cruise engines and followed the unfinished trade lanes. I had no clue where that Research Station was located at, so I had to find without my nav map.

Wuppertal Refinery, near Planet Steinfurt.

At the end of the way, I arrived at the Wuppertal Refinery, a smelter, run by ALG and Kruger. I parked my Cutlass in the landing bay and gave the bar a visit, in hope to get some informations about the location of the Heisenberg station. I heard some rumors about the station. An ALG employee told me, that scientists of the Research station just warned Wuppertal of a comet, which is apparently on a collision course with the refinery. I wonder, if they already hired someone to blow that thing up, before it hits the refinery...
In the end, he told me the corret coordinates of the Research station. I paid him a small credit for that information and a hour later, I found it finally.

On my to the given coordinates, I came across an unknown outpost. Its name was Castrop Station, it didn't showed on my nav map and my docking request got denied. Seems like, that this outpost has still been under construction.

Castrop Station.

A few minutes later, I arrived at my destination:

Heiߟenberg Research Station, in the orbit of Herne Moon.

The Heiߟenberg Research Station, once been a observatory and laboratory, owned by the Rheinland government, until Rheinland decided to abandon the station, due overbearing financial cuts. 50 years later, groups of freelancers, scientists, researchers and pirates, have settled down there. Many explorers and adventurers, are passing there, at the Freeport-like station. A neutral place for everyone far away from Rheinland authorities.

It felt good, to step on 'neutral ground' again. Leaving my Cutlass at the landing bay for some minor repairs, I entered the bar, looking for that professor. I let my eyes wander through the bar, and noticed a middle-aged man with grey hair wearing a white lab coat, staring at me.

Professor David Campbell.

He introduced himself as Professor David Campbell. After shaking hands he told me everything about his current project, he's working on since years already. At request of him, I won't note any details about it down here. I handed over the nomad remains over to him, and he asked me to meet him at the same place tomorrow evening again. He made me understand, that I shouldn't ask any questions yet and left the bar. I nearly died of curiosity...

Tomorrow I'll know more.

Topic: Experiment failure?

This is Professor David Campbell, I've found that diary of Lee del Sol Verde, in one of his cape's bags. You may be wondering, why I'm writing into it... but something dramatically happened this evening, and it needs to be explained. Best would be if I start from the beginning:

As agreed, I met Lee this evening at my private research laboratory on Heisenberg. For the last step of my experiment, I needed his person. I told him, why I actually choose him, and not somebody else. But first - what was that "experiment" about? I'll explain it here in short:

The mindshare. My aim was it to make it possible for humans, to "use" the mindshare. To control it. But what is "the mindshare"? Well, in general, it's an advanced telepathic link that binds the Nomads. I guess everyone, who grew up in the Omicrons will know about those aliens. And that leads me to the fact, that I've choosen Lee, to gain that ability. He got born on Planet Malta, just a stone's throw away from the Nomads home systems. People who grew up in that part of the Omicrons stay under the daily influence of "telepathic waves". Rumors say, that even a few maltese children, had the gift to listen to those "voices", understanding them. Cardamine increased that skill. But people who were able to use that gift, were often declared as mentally disabled, since they weren't able to control the voices in their head. Many of them went even suicide.

There would have been so much potential in using the mindshare. Not only to communicate with the Nomads, also for use under humans. Imagine it. It would change everything. But still, all the attempts to get access to that skill, failed.
But this time, I've been convinced, that it'll work. My calculations showed no doubts.

Professor David Campbell's laboratory.

However, back to what actually happened: I lead Lee through my laboratory, explaining him how the experiment will work, and what the aim was. To my astonishment, he agreed on it, without any questions. I don't know if he just haven't been aware of the danger, or if I convinced him.

To prevent any problems, I am not going to refer to the procedure's cycle. It shall remain secret.
I asked Lee to put his clothes off and shave himself completely. Afterwards I made some testings on him, checking his health and blood parameter. There were every indication that he suits to the experiment. So far so good. I connected him to several vital devices, which will make it possible to put him into an artificial coma. In a final step, I helped him to get into the experimental tank, which was filled with a blue liquid (whose mixture I won't explain now).

The experimental tank.

Then I started the test. Everything seemed to work well. The results were all positive. All the signs were that the experiment has been successful. But then, something unexpected happened...

Lee didn't woke up from the artificial coma!

He's still alive. His vital parts were working better than ever.

But he's cought in a never-ending sleep...

"I had a dream."

I feel like I'm having a never-ending nightmare. I still can't tell, if this world is reality or just an imagination of my comatose sleep. My head burns like hot coals, as if I have been taking an overdose of liquid cardamine for the last 4 months.

About those 4 months, well I've spend them in a 'comfortable' tank, filled with blue slime, which turned into a green-purple pudding, which smelt bestial. A medic roboter helped me out of it, and turned of the vital machines, to which I've been connected. When I put my feet on the ground, I felt like I've just got born! And much worse; when I looked down on my nude corpse... my skin, it had a blueish color! Merde! This was scaring as hell!

"I'm Blue, da ba dee da ba dei ... Ok this ain't funny."

Without any hairs, and being completely blue colored, I didn't recognized myself. When watching my mirror image, I see a stranger. Soon after I felt better to leave the experimental laboratory, I started to hear voices in my head. First they appeared like a susurration from far away. Then suddendly the voices got louder, and more louder, and then I've heard two different ones, three, four - a doozen ones. It wasn't my ears, hearing those, of that I've been sure. There was just me in the room - although I still didn't accepted that blue person as myself!

After a while, I managed to better control those voices in my head. And so I decided to give the bar a visit. I had a dead-dry mouth, and I wished to talk to someone in my confusion.

The trip to the Heisenberg Pub #23 was a desaster. Somehow, I made the bartender hear my thoughts, and my confusion did enlarge even more. In addition, I drawed quite some attention on me, when I left the bar screaming like a baby. I had to get out of here, quickly.

Once more back in the professors rooms, I finally found a message of him, written three months ago:

Quote:Dear Lee,

I'm not sure, if you'll ever read this message. I hope you will do, someday.
I was filled with dismay when I realized, that I wasn't able to wake you up from the artificial coma. I felt like a murderer. And it even got worse, I had to leave the Heisenberg to secure my project documents. People got alerted about my experiments. Mainly the Rheinland government. I had to wipe away my own tracks and obtain all and any information from my main systems.

It might be possible, that I'm in pre-trial custody when you read this message. As long as they won't found my laboratory, it's all good. Oh please, don't let them have found it.

Anyways, I need to explain you the next steps. I'm afraid, that you aren't safe on Heisenberg anymore. You need to get lost, too. Best would be to find a hideout, somewhere in the Nomad Worlds. The government won't search for you there.

About the experiment; when I left, your status didn't changed at all, everything was still okay. So I gave my medical robot orders, in case you'll wake up. Hopefully, everything went well!

Enough of words, I'm in a haste. Just one thing more, I've left you some Sirus credit cards in my private safe. It'll open with your voice. You can take everything you find in my rooms, too. I won't be able to get back there soon anyways.

If you'll still be alive, I'll find you. And if our experiment was successfull... that would be amazing. No, it would be revolutionary! Well, take care Lee! Farewell.

Yours,

David Campbell

Well, that was something! Seems like my old friend is in serious problems. But the question is; am I? Actually I don't want to find out. So I searched for my stuff, and took the credit cards from the safe. Exactly 2 billion Sirius Credits! David must have thousands of private sponsors. Or it's robbed cash. But what do I care? I really needed it, since I got afraid, that I'll need some heavier protection in future. Mainly, something bigger to be able to rest in open space for months.

At last, I searched for some useful items in his rooms. And I've been lucky. I found enough clothes in my size, masses of food and consumer goods. And a real treasure: construction plans of a Gunboat prototype, signed by the Zoners. "Hathor", did the title say. It looked simliar to the "Conference", which I know already. So I ignored the large red letters on it, saying "Top secret", and took it with me.

Hours later, when I just left the Heisenberg, I already made myself a few thoughts about finding a spaceship constructor, who could fullfill my special order. I mean; 2 billions... no human being would deny it.

Topic: Illegal ship construction plans

In search for a private ship constructor, who won't ask many question, I went to the Barrier Gate Station in Conorado. I've been convinced, that I'll find the right man there. On my trip there, I tried to avoid any contact, taking David's warning quite serious. And thanks to my Cloaking Device, I had no interruptions.

Arrived at Barrier Gate West Wing, I didn't wasted any time, and entered the local bar, The Lone Drunkard #535. The bar was empty, so I kept the bartender company. On my question, if he knows any trustable ship engineer, who doesn't care much about laws. Without wasting any more words to me, he spoke into his headset. And asked me to take a seat, and that 'he' will be here in a few minutes. After ordering a drink, taking a seat and staring outside the windows for not even one minute, a tall man with dark hair stood infront of me. After shaking hands, I had a some smalltalk with him. Meanwhile, without intending it, I read his thoughts like an open book. He seemed to be a trustworthy, but cash-hungry man. I made sure, that no curious listener was nearby, and showed him the construction plans folder.

The cover of the construction plans folder.

No more words were needed. I've entered his mind, and explained him the deal. He stayed cool, while I tried my mysterious telepathic skills on him. A few minutes later, the deal was clear: Two billion Sirius Credits was the price. He gave me his word, that he won't steal the plans. I made him understand, what consequences it would have, if he tries. Finding someone, whose mind you have control of, is even easier, than bribing a LPI with a donut.

He told me, to bring the plans tomorrow morning to his hangar, so he can put his hands on it, as fast as possible. I didn't had any time to loose. People could get wind of it.

Topic: Pilot without a ship

The other morning, I gave the construction hangar of my new friend a visit. When entering the hangar at D1/17, I've witnessed how they were finishing their last job. It wasn't clear, for whom that frigate was going to belong, but it could have been some other Freelancer, or even some unlawful pirate, smuggler or whatever. Thinking about who owns that ship, brought me to the question, what my occupation is currently. Am I a fugitive? Deformed by a failed experiment of a wanted professor. Getting himself a new ship, built by top secret plans. I have to say, that I don't have a good feeling with that. But who should care about a simple Freelancer, flying an unknown ship, whose building plans he has found somewhere? I don't even know, if that ship ever got produced by someone. Hopefully, I won't get any problems with it. I really don't feel like being hunted by some organisation, accusing me as spy or thief.
However, the finalising frigate was almost finished, and I was satisfied with that.

The construction hangar at D1-17.

After introducing me to his design engineers and several builders, he led me to his office, where we discussed the details. Given the fact, that I had those two billion SC to spent, I've choosen the best equipment available. Here's a small list of its main gear:

Quote:Weapons:
> 6x Basic Gunboat Turret
> 1x EMP-7 Gunboat Pulse Cannon
> 1x Gunboat "Battle Razor" Tachyon-Antimatter Cannon
Combat Systems:
> CM-5 Heavy Countermeasure Dropper
External Equipment:
> Gunboat Graviton Shield
> Cheetah Thruster
> Cloaking Device
Internal Equipment:
> Battleship Scanner
> Capital Ship Armor Upgrade Mk VIII
Cargo bay:
> 80 - 130 units
Powercore:
> Maximum efficiency: 75%
> Power output: 450,000 u
> Power recharge: 45000

I've been good with his proposal. The explanation for the small free use cargo bay is, that the superior hull is heavy as hell, which makes up for the best protection, you can get. Besides it, most of the high-end equipment took a lot of space. And to reduce fuel costs, engine size, and to increase the agility of the ship in total, it would have been counterproductive, to have a large cargo bay. Not to mention the upgraded cloaking device, which'll take quite some cargo space, too. On the other hand, I had more space to fill all the empty rooms, which offers more luxuriousness. On that individual part, I'll get my hands on, once the ship will be ready for its maiden flight.

But on the question, why the powercore has a maximum efficiency of just 75% and not 100%, he asked me to follow him to the powercell hanger at LB-3. Amazed by the beatifulness of those powercells, he told me, that the most difficult part of building spacecrafts is, to find the matching powercells. The creation of those powercell is a very time-consuming and dangerous process, which is done by professionals of official ship construction organisations. And when building individual ships, you have to test, which powercell fit the ship itself. Only products, right from treadmills can offer a 100% functionality. He assured me, that those 75% is the best I can get. He adivsed me of the powercell, he uses for my beauty, are bought from a random Junker, who salvaged them in the deep Omicron Worlds. And I should be thankful, that he utilizes them for me.

LB-3, The powercell hangar.

After a fast guidance, everything was discussed. The hardpoint lights, the paint, the main interior layout and thousands of other small individual setups. In memories of my old ship, whose parts were reused in the new construction, I'll keep the shipname; "The Narcotic".

Being tired and happy at the same time, I entered the living sector on the West Wing, and searched for my rooms keycard. I've never mentioned, that I've bought a comfortable room on Barrier Gate. It was in 815 AS, about a year after I left Malta. I felt better when traveling Sirius, that I'm having a place, which I can call "home" after all...
It's nothing special, but it reaches its aim quiet well. And best of all is, that it's a perfect hideout, where I can spend a few weeks without getting harassed by someone. And it also has the practical benefit, that I can keep an eye on my ships progress, since the hangar is just a quick walk away from my room. And who knows, how long it takes to build such a special ship? And for the time being, until it'll be finished, I could call myself a pilot without a ship!

Topic: Trip to Planet Curacao

In the morning, I've been observing the first steps of my ships construction. I had to admit, that they were working quite fast and tidy. But maybe it was because of me, watching them. I got told, that my ship won't be finished within the next three weeks. Quite a long time. First I had no clue, how to make a good use of that time. I've been toying with the idea of renting some small spacecraft for a while. But it would be far too dangerous, not only being an easy target, but also needing to give out my personal details, which would make it easy to track me down.

Later, when I had a drink at the Lone Drunkard bar, to take my mind off other things, I got to talk to a maltese women, whose name is Melosa Sola. The fact, that we were born at the same place made her trustworhty to me, and I began talking about me and the recent events in my life. She was a great listener, and somehow, she started flirting with me. "Don't you feel proud to be the possible first blue-skinned human in the universe?" She joked. When thinking about now, she didn't even meant it ironic but as compliment. Like hours later, we got the point, where she asked me, what I'll do now, while I'm waiting for my ship being ready for space. I guess she knew, that I've got a lot of free time now, because she asked me to accompany her on a trip to Planet Curacao. She explained me, that she's commanding a smuggling train which commutes between Barrier Gate Station and Planet Cortez, selling Cardamine, Synthetic Marijuana and even gallic Nox, whose demand is extremly high on such pleasure planets like Curacao. That made me a bit skeptical, but I weren't able to resist her offer, and herself aswell to be fair...

Leaving Barrier Gate with "La Ardiente".

A few hours later, I've been sitting at the bridge of Melosa's "La Ardiente", a large pirate train of the Z-line.
The rest of her crew didn't treat me that friendly as Melosa did. They've been observing my steps and looked away, when I looked into their eyes. Was it because of my skin? Do they fear me? Am I a monster in their eyes? Melosa noticed, me feeling uneasy. And smiled at me, saying, that she doesn't dislike my special skin color. "You're unique, they're just jealous.", she said. What a women.

Late in the evening, we arrived at Planet Curacao's orbit. The weather was quite windy, and I heard a thunderstorm incoming. Just a few minutes later we found ourselfes in a deadly storm, with waves as high as skyscrapers. We had to make an emergency landing, forced by the storm.

Stormy night on Planet Curacao.

A few nerve-wracking seconds later, we found ourselfes at some research station. We were welcomed by a lab type and two guardians. He offered us a shelter for one night and showed us the rooms. We had a satisfying dinner, where I noticed, that Melosa has been watching me all the time. When I returned the look, she acted, as she were busy talking.

Around midnight, when I've already been lying in bed, having trouble to find some sleep, I've been thinking about Melosa. Somehow she touched my heart. Meanwhile lightnings stroke into the large sea outside, followed by deafing thunders. A heartbeat later I found myself walking down the living sectors corridor towards Melosa's room.

The corridor at night.

Suddendly, when the moonlight filled the corridor when a cload moved by, I saw a black shadow walking towards me. My heart stood still for a second. Then I recognized Melosa's flawless face. Her blooddiamond-red hair dances on her shoulder like flames in the night when she walked towards me, and fell into my arms. She reached up and grabbed my neck and pressed her lips on mine. "Say, you're skin - is it blue everywhere?, she whispered, while her view moves down, showing a seductive smile.

Different, but made to be together.

One day and two nights did the thunderstorm last. Two lovely nights. I've enjoyed every second, every lightning bolt which came down from the dark skies, and every kiss, being in close contact with her. The weather was actually doing me a favor in the end. We were forced to stay another day at the private research station on Cortez, until the storm has ended.

This early morning, I woke up, having Melosa lying in my fluorescent arms. She was still asleep, breathing slowly while her thorax lifts itself and lowers. And her lips, twinkeling innocent in the silver shine of the moonlight. Feeling happier than I've have been for a long time, I woke her up with a gently kiss on her cheek, followed by a row of kisses on her chest. Whereupon she moaned with pleasure, showing me a dozy face. "It's time, honey. Our taxi is waiting.", I've whispered.

One hour later, we were sitting on the backseats of a space taxi, heading for one of the most beatiful places on Cortez - "The Drunken Mermaid Lagoon". But how did that got so far? Well, it seems like we both did totally fell in love with each other. Melosa is like the lost counterpart in my life. We're so different as fire and water is, but still we fit together like born for each other. And so, we spontaneously rented a suite at the "Rising Starsphere" Hotel for two weeks.

Sunset at the beach.

A dream got fullfilled. Spending two weeks at the most beatiful place, I've ever seen at a planets ground. Together with my love. To describe my emotions and all the great things we've seen today, it'd need a new diary book I guess. So I'll keep it short. I can't imagine, that I'll ever forget those moments anyways. I hope, that I'll never need to...

However, I'm afraid, that this diary entry will be the last within the next two weeks, since there's just so much to do and see at this place. I can't wait to get my hands on my new ship aswell, but first I've got a holiday to enjoy. And I'm pretty sure, that I will. I won't have that much time for myself now anyways.
Una senora Melosa Sola got me now, the women, I've always been dreaming of.

So I've been walking along this ships corridor, holding hands with my love, when I had this immense feeling of happiness. Excited like a small child that went to the fair, I was. Anyways, I'm missing something out.

Melosa and I had a beatiful time at Cortez for two weeks, and we even extend our holiday for three more days. I'm pretty sure, that it was my most wonderful holiday, that I've ever had until now. And since it really was literally 'indescribable' - I won't go into detail.

Anyhow, back to Barrier Gate Station, she got the point, that she likes to stay by my side if any possible. And there was no indication that it wouldn't work, if she'd move into my just finished new yacht. And so she gave command of her "La Ardiente" smuggling train to her second captain and said goodbye to her crew, telling them, that she'll be away for an indefinite period.

My new constructed 'deep space exploring yacht' - as I'd call it, was already parked on the launching pad at the hangar. Where I meet the man from the bar, who had offered me the construction. He told me, that they had almost no problems with the building of it. Except for the efficiency of the powercore, which I already knew before. He showed us a gesture, to enter my ship for a tour. The first view of my new beauty was astonishing! It was so large, compared to usual spacecrafts. The in huge, blue-metallic letters written character on it, saying "NARCOTIC"; I've noticed first.

I was stunned, when we took a quick look through the different decks. I've always been used to simple and 'antiquated' shiptechnics, but everything was different now. I already knew, that it'll take me weeks, to understand and use all the ships functions, rooms and mechanics. I knew that this such sort of ship isn't meant to be flown by a single person, but it seemed, like I'll need to find a small trustable crew, to get that 'fatty' into space.

Corridor to the living sector.

I've got said, that I'll need to read the manuals and have some extra gunship flight lessons, before they can let me cruise away alone. And I'll have to buy furnitures, decoration stuff, supply things, food, clothes, entertainment media and, and, and. It'll be like furnishing a apartment house. The years before, I've always been living from hand to mouth like. I had almost no belongings. But times will change now.

This evening, we wasted our time by taking all the stuff from my room at the west wing, to the Narcotic, filling the office, bedroom, bathrooms, kitchen, living room, and several other empty rooms in the living sector. I've prefered to spent the days in the Narcotic, until I'll be able to launch into space, just to get used to the premises.

Hopefully, it won't take that long. I just can't wait to see the open space through a ships cockpit again.

Inside the Narcotic.

I can't remember, when I last had such a hectic and stressful day. The morning, I've visited a private combat flight school and had four hours theory teaching followed by two hours flight lesson in a heavy gunship. Everything worked pretty well, and I'm convinced, that it helped much.

Afterwards, I've been finishing the main preparations for the Narcotics maiden flight. Most of the premises got filled, the tanks and provisions are full. Besides, I've checked the ship engines, communication systems, food and water supply systems, heating installation and artificial ventilation, ship controls and thousands of other more and less important things. Everything seemed to be in order, except for one thing; the cloaking device. The engineers tried to upgrade it to suit the ship's larger size, but it just didn't work out as planned. Something was missing. Normal fuel just couldn't run it, nor could MOX. I had no idea why they did mess it up. However, I guess I'll do without it for now.

In the late afternoon, the 'transport' from Malta arrived at Barrier Gate, whom I've ordered to bring me some suspicious orange drugs. Together with a small choice of talented maltese crew members. It took me another exhausting two hours to question them, to see if they fit my taste. Meanwhile, I've asked Melosa to get me another few spaceship crews at the different bars on Barrier Gate, since she knew a handful of faithful friends, who might look for a challenge.

To cut a long story short: I've picked 23 of those young and experienced recruits from Corsica, and Melosa brought me another 5 friends, she recommended me. So in the end, I had 20 crews, who were split into engineers, pilots, workers, navigators, communicators, etc. , furtermore, I've choosen 5 marines, for safety reasons, and 3 scientists for doing general research and medical service. All in all a healthy mixture in my opinion.

In the late evening, I've celebrated the completion of the Narcotic, together with Melosa and my recently put together crew. We clink glasses on the Narcotic and on our future time, we'll spend together in space. Tomorrow at this time, I'll be somewhere lost in space...
