If your ship was over the limit in terms of cargo space, then yes, that could cause cargo to kapoof. We did warn players that was going to happen, well in advance of the update. I doubt any refunds will be given - but there's always more nommies to hunt.

yes well nommies got considerably harder to hunt now because in iota there is now 'super noms' meaning nomad assassins wielding class 8 nomad greater shields of 125k. ya fighters with GB shields..... lemme tell ya, those aint easy to pew.

edit: also i still have the BS guns that were on it so the only thing to go le poof was the nom fighter remains and i still got the BS and GB remains and for the fighter remains to go down to the perfect number of 30? oh and ive got 3/4 of my cargo empty and its a firefly so thats plenty of room for 500 noms so.... ya

Wait... what? Nomad snubs with a gunboat shield? That's not right... If that's the case, you've found a loadout bug. Snubs may have freighter-sized shields at most. Those assasins should be using the Nomad class 10 heavy fighter shield.

ya i made a post a bit ago in the appropriate place but ya snubs with GB shields aint no fun to pew and about 90% snubs in iota have that loadout and i even found a few with GB shields in delta (about 1 in 4 in delta)

I had free space on my gunboat. I understand updating require sacrifices, then answer me on one simple ask: is number of NPCs linked with number of players? I observed more players = less NPCs.

I'm not a rather important person. But that is the case.

ADMINS - AeternusDoleo - 04-06-2012

Yea, but it's an unwanted effect actually. The correlation is:
More players => bigger server load
More NPCs => bigger server load
Bigger server load => Lag

To tone down on lag, server stops spawning non-mission encounters when load reaches a specific point. Bigger server could theoretically help, but the server process only uses a single core, and can't effectively use the raw power generated by dual or quadcore machines (dualcore still helps by offloading OS stuff on the second core, but the FLServer process isn't able to use more then one).

If we can find a way to have players (and/or NPCs) generate less load on the server, NPCs will automatically return. It's an ongoing battle between skintight but too detailed hitboxes which are probably the cause of most lag, and too bland hitboxes that do not follow the model.

I can bear witness to this bug. But it's only the Assassines.
