Story of the OCV|Abydos - Jaika - 04-07-2012

The return:

Somewhere in the uncharted space regions.
Recent days.
---------------------------------------------------

A really damaged ship can be seen in the distance. It's a Osiris class Order battle ship the Abydos.
-Sir, we getting some kind of emergency transmission. It seems to be...a Order signal?
-What?! That's cannot be. Let me see it. Oh my god, maybe finally we can go home.
-Sir, i think i can clear it out. Almost...yes, we got it. It's a automated message but it's not using the Toledo protocol.
-Strange. Let us hear it.

The message begins: -This is da Shadow Walker, if anyone hear this message then our ship is disabled, please send a rescue unit for us.

-That is all?
-No sir, but i can't clear out the rest, maybe their transmitter got damaged.
-Can we follow the source of the signal?
-Yes sir, the signal is weak but we can get the ship's coordinates.
-Alright then, lets go, maybe they have some info how to get back to home.

---------------------------------------------------
A few hours later.
---------------------------------------------------

The Abydos made it to the expected coordinates of the signal's source, but it's really surprised everyone when they saw what was there.

-Sir, we're at the location of the Shadow Walker, it is heavily damaged from nomad weapon fire but the life support is online.
-Right, send the commando squad to it.
-Understood. This is the first mate to the commando squad gamma. Prepare for boardin action, we've got a unkown type of ship but it show human life signs.
-This is Gamma lead, roger that, we're ready for the transport in ten minutes.
-The hangar bay is clear...and still working *snickers*
-Heh...copy.

A few minutes later in the Gamma squad's room:

-Alright ladies and gents, the captin got something and it's up to the Gammas to check it out. They said they have some human life signs on that ship. So we may gonna need some medical stuff too. But don't expect anything good, this ain't gonna be a picnic.

On the bridge:

-So what do you think Tom? We found some of our guys maybe?
-Don't know, i hope they aren't infected.
-Me too my friend, me too. This ship, it's strange, it has Order weaponry but it is much more advanced then our ships.
-Yes, but who knows what they developed in the last year. All the researches they made. It was our biggest luck that we got that new food production chamber right before we moved off to begin the Iota mission.
-You're right.
-This is Gamma lead, we're in the hangar and ready for action.
-Roger that Gamma lead. Bring back to us anybody you find on that ship. Maybe we can save some of them. Hawk-one you're clear to leave, good luck boys.
-Aye aye sir. Hawk one moving out.

---------------------------------------------------
One minutes later, onboard the Shadow Walker.
---------------------------------------------------

-Hawk-one to the Abydos, we're at the back of the ship. There is a big hole on the hull. Maybe we can use it to get in. That's gonna be the best. I don't want to risk anything. Maybe if we try to cut thru the hull the whole ship will fall apart.
-Roger that Hawk-one. Gamma squad, report in after everyone managed to get inside the ship.
-Copy that.
-This is Gamma One, i'm in.
-Gamma Two here, i made inside too.
-Gamma lead reporting in, i'm in too and Gamma Two already working on the cargo bay door.
-It's opening, looks like the gravitational stabilizers are working in the rest of the ship. And the safety field is also still active. So we have normal air inside i think.
-Move in, everyone.
-Captain, i found a working computer terminal, Gamma One and Gamma lead can check out the command room of the ship while i download all the data from here and send it to the Abydos.
-Do that commando, but be careful. I don't want to lose anyone.
-Two, first search for the ship's schematics and upload it to our nav system. That'll make our job a lot more easyer.
-Right, hmm...seems like this is a Order board computer but it's more advanced then the one we have on the Abydos. Oh and here we go guys. The ship's schematics are uploaded.
-Thanks, now lets go. If the navmap is right, then the command room is at the end of this corridor.
-Abydos, i open up a channel where i can send over everything i found.
-Roger that, we're ready to recive it.

At the end of the corridor:

-Alright One, here we are. I'll open the door and you cover me. Ready?
-Ready.
-Opening door now.

The door opens slowly because its frame has got deformed from explosion.

-Ready your weapon. Here we go.
-Sir, i don't see any hostiles, but there is a few body over there.
-Gamma Two can you come over here? We got some bodys, and they're maybe still alive. But they got knocked out.
-On my way.
-One, check 'em out.
-Okay.

]He goes to the one who's possibly the captain of this ship.

-Boss, this guy is still alive, barely but he's alive. And here's another one, he's also breathing. And this woman here. Her heart is beating but she's unconscious as like the others.
-Right, is the command console still working?
-Erm...yup.
-Then check it out maybe we got more passengers aboard.
On it, hmm...no, nothing, i think they are the only ones. I got the first few lines of the ship log and it sais it has only three crewmen.
-Then we found every...wait, did you feel it?
-Yes, the ship is shaked a bit.
-You know what that means, take the captain, Two bring that woman i take the other guy there and head back with them to the transport, NOW!
-Yes sir!

Right after Gamma squad made it in to the Hawk-one, the hull of this strange ship started to fall in to pieces.

-Hawk-one here, we're left the ship with thre additional personel aboard, this wreck will fall into pieces in every minute.
-Roger that Hawk-one, the hangar door is open, you're clear to land.
-Gamma Squad nice work, after the transport is docked take that thre men in to the med-room.
-Sir.
-Yes Tom?
-We've got a unstable jumphole on our scanners not far from here.
-Really? Hmm...maybe...
-Maybe what?
-Nothing, we better check it out. Bring us to that jumphole.
-Okay sir.

---------------------------------------------------
Twenty minutes later.
---------------------------------------------------

-We're at the JH sir.
-Is it stable enough to go thru?
-Yes, but we don't know where we end up. What if we just jump in to a middle of a nomad hive system.
-Well see that with in a few minutes. But i have a feeling that this jumphole holds no danger for us. Just think about it Tom. If this ship came here thru that one, then why the nomads not followed it? Maybe they got here as we did back in Iota a year ago. Do you remember?
-You mean when they hit the Delta JH with that beam?
-Yes, i think that ship met with the same, or a similar kind of nomad what we saw a year ago in Iota.
-So, you really wanna see the other side, right Jaika?
-Yes.
-Alrigh, lets hope this old warhorse still can hold out. Our shields are working on 85% so that's not gonna be a problem but the hull integrity isn't the best.
-What do you mean under isn't the best?
-Weeeell...
-Well?
-Don't worry we're gonna make it. Jump sequence initiated in three, two, one. Aaaand jumping.

As the Abydos entered in to the jumphole the whole ship started make trange noises and shaked. Flashes can be seen all over the ship as the gravitational dampening field collided with the sides of the wormhole.

---------------------------------------------------
Two hours later.
---------------------------------------------------

-Are we still in this damned wormhole?
-Yes sir but the scanner sais we're almost at the end.

Right after Tom finished his sentence the Abydos dropped out from the wormhole.

-And here we are. Damn...this end of that jumphole has collapsed right after we came out.
-Here? Erm...where exactly?
-Don't know sir, but this cloud and those rocks aren't too reassuring.
-Any contact?
-No sir, the comms are...wait a sec, i read a huge structure under us. It's 300K away so it'll take some time to reach it. The scanner sais unkown type of metal and organic composite. But maybe it's just got damaged and can't make difference between the panels and the people on the station.
-So you say we got a human made station with 300K under us? You sure?
-Well, i'm not sure but i think it's a space station.
-Alright let's check it out.
-It's gonna take some time until we get there 'coz we can't engage the cruise engines. They got damaged two weeks ago in the last nomad attack and we have no more spare parts to repair them.
-Alright. Well, if it's really a human station, then i don't really care now how long it'll take to get there. Just be sure we make it there in one piece.

---------------------------------------------------
Hours later.
---------------------------------------------------

-Sir we're near to the installation, but no radio contact yet.
-Hmm...strange, we're only fifteen K's away and they don't even hail us.
-Good, god. This is...it's a nomad station!
-What?! This is the captain, everyone be ready, we've got a nomad base not far from us. Bring the ship in to combat alert alpha! Pilots in to your ships. All men to the turret controls! Tom, when they attack use evasive maneuvers!
-Yes sir! The Abydos is combat ready but one of our anti-fighter turrets is not working and we also can't use the mortar, the kick-back power what it generates can tear out a big part from the ship 'coz the hull got damaged around it in the same fight where we lost our cruise engine.
-Alright try to keep us alive and use whatever you can.
-Understood.

---------------------------------------------------
After a half hour or more.
---------------------------------------------------

The Abydos moved a few K's closer to the base, to check out what they facing with, but when they arrived they didn't saw a single nomad ship, not even a voidrunner.

-Strange, it seems to be derelict. Keep the combat alert and move closer, lets do a circle around this station. Any info about it?
-Not much sir, but it seems like we've got closer to Sirius 'coz it shows many similarity with the derelict nomad base in O-92. Wait what's that? It sais match found.
-Match found with what?
-With the derelict base in O-92, so that means we can be really close to the Omicrons.
-Don't get your hopes to high but maybe we can try to send out a message. Is the Gamma squad found any kind of comm log in the Shadow Walker's database?
-Yes, a few. They've sent out a transmission not much before the automated emergecy signal was activated.
-Then try to use that channel, maybe someone is looking for them.
-Alright sir, sending the message now.

Story of the OCV|Abydos - Jaika - 04-18-2012

Iota recon mission:

Evora shipyard, O-100
One year earlier
---------------------------------------------------

-This is captain Jaika, we're ready for the first test of our new engine. That boosted power generator works perfectly, send all my congrats to the engineering team.
-Hehe...copy that, if you're ready then start up that beauty, but just slowly, first use it only on fifty percent.
-Roger, engine output set to fifty percent, starting up now.

A rumbling sound can be heard in the comm as the engine came alive.

-Hmm...seems like everyhing works just fine, this is gonna be a easy test-run.
-Okay, we see the Abydos on our scanners, sending coordinates now. Please follow those, after the sencond waypoint raise the output level up to onehundred percent slowly.
-Alright, we're closing to waypoint two, raising output level. Erm...Evora, it looks like the starboard coolant system have some problems. It work only on eighty percent.
-Roger, then slow down with the ship a bit and retur in to the drydock.
-Affirmative, returning to drydock now. I hope we can move out in time to begin our mission.
-No need to worry, we've got no other work so we'll finish with that little problem in no-time.
-That's what i exactly wanted to hear, thanks boss.

---------------------------------------------------
The next day, after the final test.
---------------------------------------------------

-Toledo, this is the Abydos, we're ready to move out and to begin our recon mission in Iota.
-Toledo mission adviser here, scouts reporting clear space from here to the Iota JH, and the Gamma commando squad is ready to transport.
-Roger that, tell them the hangar-bay is clear. Anything else before we leave?
-Nothing, after the Gamma sqad's transport docked on the Abydos you can leave captain.
-Right, keep us updated adviser, i don't want to end up in the middle of a nomad fleet, that last Marduk almost got us, nasty beast.
-Don't worry i'll keep you up-to-date as much as i can, oh and i just got another report from our scouts. Iota seems also to be clear. But i think this doesn't mean it's gonna be a weekend picnic party.
-Yeah, i bet on that.
-Hawk-one to the Abydos, we're at the docking point, initiating docking sequence, now.
-Greetings Hawk-one, and welcome aboard.
-Alright ladies and gentlemen, we've got everything to start so now we're moving out to Iota. Tom set up a safety flight path and bring us to the Iota JH.
-Yes sir, waypoints set and we're moving out.
-Adviser, captain Jaika here again, we're leaving Minor now, wish us luck and tell the bartender to have some cold champanges and beers when we return.
-*laughs* Copy that, good luck guys and godspeed.

---------------------------------------------------
One hour later, O-Delta, at the Iota Jumphole.
---------------------------------------------------

-Sir, we're at the Iota jumphole, everything seems quiet and our scout reported the same from the other end.
-Okay, then bring us in, i hope at least our first day will be quiet. But just in case initiate combat alert gamma.
This is the captain speeking, we're entering in to the Omicron Iota system now and we bring the ship to combat alert gamma. This is just a safety measure so no need to worry.
-Entering jumphole, now.

After a few minutes in the jumphole the Abydos reaches the other end.

-Sir we're in Iota, and there is our scout too. Shall i send him back to Minor now?
-Yes. And take us in to high orbit over that planet, our first task is to analyse the planet's atmosphere.
-Thanks for the service Scout-three, now it's better if you head back to Minor, and tell them we've reached Iota in safe.
-This is Scout-three, roger that, good luck guys, it's gonna be a long week.
-Have a safe flight pilot.
-Thanks captain, Scout-three out.
-Captain, it is strange, the weapon platform is inactive, in normal conditions the first thing we see after entering here is the incoming projectiles from its turrets and the missile alarm icon on the radar.
-That's strange indeed, but don't hesitate here too much Tom. I don't want to wait here until that beast wake up.
-Right sir, heading to the planet now.
-Report any unusual reading on our scanners, and be ready for incoming patrol squads. This place is too quiet and i don't like this.
-Aye sir. *Tom nods*

---------------------------------------------------
High orbit above the unkown planet.
---------------------------------------------------

-Sir we're at the planet. Scanners online, and we're already receiveing the first bits of data.
-No hostile activity?
-Nothing sir, the scanner is clear.
-Alright, well, i don't want to end up in anything i don't like, so just send out a patrol wing.
-Tom to the Beta wing, guys i've got some partol duty to you.
-Beta lead here, thanks man, i've thought we just gonna sit and watch here until we finish, i was worried we get bored to hell.
-Hehe, then this is your lucky day. Report if you see something strange.
-Roger.
-How's the scann is going? As i see it's much slower than it used to be.
-Yes, that's 'coz of the thick atmosphere of the planet and there is a large amount of radiation in the exosphere.
-Hmm...alright. Keep scanning and inform me if it's done. Hey Tom, if this takes too long, i have a nice poker set, i think we can play a party with Scotty and Steve until this thing gets finished. *laughs*
-*laughs* Alright sir...but i think first i try to reconfigure our scanners, maybe they can finish a bit faster. And we can play after that.
-Hohoo, you may afraid from loosing against me? So you want to buy some time for yourself, riiiight? *laughs*
-No! Who said that?
-This old "i've got some things to do.."
-Sir this is Beta-two, amm..it's probably not a problem...probably but i think it's better if i report it.
-What is it pilot?
-I've got a hostile reading on my scanner for a second, but now disappeared.
-You sure it was a hostile.
-No sir, it appeard on my scanner only for a second, it's maybe just a small asteroid with a highly radiant core.
-Right, keep patroling but don't go after that thing. We better keep a low profile here. *to himself* Yeah, try to keep a low profile in a battleship.
-Roger that sir.

---------------------------------------------------
With another few hours later.
---------------------------------------------------

-Sir, this is Beta-four, we started our patrol again, and we've got no contact. Maybe there is nobody at home? I mean no jellys and all.
-Don't let your guard down, maybe they just wait for the right...
-This is Beta-one! I've got contact! Lost of contact!
-No jellys. You have to open your mount!
-Stay calm Tom. Beta wing, pull back to the Abydos and take up a defense formation around it, we send out the Delta and the Omega wing to support you.
-Beta-lead here, copy that captain, heading back to the Abydos and taking up defense formation.
-Delta-lead here, we're combat ready.
-Omega wing reporting in. Everyone is ready for some rock'n'roll.
-Alright pilots, show those freaks how we do battle. Omega wing escort the Delta bombers and take out any threat what goes against them. Delta wing pick up the big targets and send them to hell.
-Alright Omegas, we've got some special people to protect! This is gonna be a hell of a fight!
-Delta wing here, targets locked, starting our intercepting run.
-Beta wing, target the bombers, don't let them too close or they may take out our hangar.
-Beta wing here, we're engaging the enemy now!
-Tom bring us in to combat alert alpha, the captain to all crew memebers, all hands man your battlestations! We're engaging the nomad fleet in open combat, we have to make a clear way to the Delta jump hole. To all wings keep your current orders but try to make your way to the Delta jumphole, we provide heavy fire support.
-Sir, Delta-one here, as i can see this fleet is composed only from gunboats, bombers and fighters.
-Copy that, well at least we don't have to avoid from heavy artillery.
-This is Beta-two i got one on me! Damn it's got my engine! Reactor leak..bwaaa..(static)..aaa..(static)..aaa..(static)
-We've lost Beta-two! Move closer to the Abydos.

Purple, blue, red and yellow flashes can be seen in every window. The battle becomes tougher and tougher as the Abydos makes its way to the jumphole, thru the nomad fleet.

-Beta wing we have some jellys around our engine, if they take it out, then we're gonna be sitting ducks here. Take them out! Fast!
-Roger. Changeing targets now.
-Delta-lead here, one gunboat down.
-Nice work Deltas. All turret aim at the closest gunboat and shoot it with everything. Tom, how far is the jumphole?
- Forty six K's away.
-We gonna have a hard time to reach it. How's our shields standing?
-They at seventy nine percent, we're not getting too much fire from the nomads, they concentrate on our fighters and bombers first.
-Lets hope our guys can withstand against those freaks.

---------------------------------------------------
Just minutes later, in the asteroid field around the Delta jumphole.
---------------------------------------------------

-Omega-six here..(static)..lifesupport failin..(static)..i've lost my scanner..(static)..shields buckling..(static)..ejecting!
-Omega-six, what is your location? Omega-six!
-Almost, almost...got him. Hahh, don't worry sir he's in our cargobay now.
-Med-team, we've got an injurned pilot in the cargo bay.
-On our way sir!
-Delta-one here i need..(static)..bwaaa..(static)..aaaa..(static)
-Damn, they're overwhelming us. All wings we're almost at the jumphole be ready to retreat.
-Holy shi..(statit)..tha hell is that thig?!
-What are you talkin' about five?
-I talk about that big one over there!
-All unit, this is the captain, fall back, i repeat, fall back! We're at the jumphole and ready to leave!
-Fighters docking, the nomads started to concentrate their fire power on us.
-All power to the shield generators. We don't have to hold out much longer now.
-Sir, look at there! That thing is opening, and it's chargin up! God, it's aiming at the jumphole?! We've got everyone!
-Initiate jump sequence now!
-Initiating in three, two...Yaaay! That thig just hit the jumphole...and, and i get different readings from it now!
-What do you mean...oh well we have no time for this, just go!
-Alright, so, initating jump sequence in three, two, one, jumping!

The Abydos enterd the jumphole, but yet non of them know that this is goning to be the begining of a long year. After its got dropped out on the other side they found them selfs in a small fleet of nomads but they had to stand up against two, unkown type of nomad ships. They sieze was around a cruiser's sieze. They were lucky these were not fully grown up nomad cruisers, but they were quite a challenge. After a long battle against these creatures, they've saw something much more distressing. The system where they were was not the system where they wanted to be. The navmap said: "No information available."
