Continual crashing in California - Doober - 05-10-2012
I just saw there is a help request forum, so I am reposting this from where I posted it in general discussions.
I am pretty new to the Discovery Mod. Yesterday, I was flying around and I entered the California system from the Cortez System via a jumphole. About 15 seconds after I entered, it said the server crashed and it may be an intermittent problem. I waited awhile and got back on and the same thing happened. I tried quite a few times over the course of last night and it always did the same thing. I couldn't exit the system and I can't go anywhere. I thought perhaps it was a temporary issue and waited till today and again tried with the same results. I rebooted my computer and ran it with PingPlotter also active to see if there was a server issue, but everything seems fine.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this or if the California System is bugged, how can I at least get out of this system? Any help would greatly be appreciated, this is a really fun game, but I don't want to have to restart my character from scratch.

I feel very foolish posting this again, but I was on another character and used the jumphole from Cortez to California again and I am having the same issue. Has anyone else tried using this jumphole? The jumpgate seems fine, but the jumphole just crashes me. My character is Transporta_Vitoria.
I have attempted a reinstall of the game and Discovery mod and that did not seem to help. Is there an admin that can perhaps help me again? I promise not to use that jumphole again.

I jumped through there a while back and had no issues. May be an install problem on your end. Backup your accounts using the Freelancer Account Manager and reload Freelancer from scratch and see if that fixes the problem. FL is notorious for having serious issues when one line of code or one file gets corrupt.

thanks for the reply, I did do a reinstall from scratch and I am still having the same issue. I had all different equipment and ships, the only thing that was the same was I had an outcast id both times, but I can't imagine that that would affect anything.

Not sure then. I had no issue jumping through there a few hours ago. Check the bug area on the forum, see if anyone else had any issues with it either. If not, post it in there and I'm sure one of the dev's or admins will check it out.
I'd help you get your characters moved if I could, but I don't have admin rights.

There's nothing wrong with that jump hole as far as I know.
Are you using any mods, and is your Freelancer installation clean?
Try going into settings, audio, and make sure the 3D sound option is unchecked.
If the problem still persists, and you're sure there is nothing wrong with your PC hardware or drivers, download and run the FLSpit tool. Post the results here.

I turned off the 3D sound and that seemed to work. Thanks for the help!
