It depends primarily on where you are. If you are in a Core or Independent system, each of their governments will have a thread like this related to their laws with which to do so. Else, you have to hope no one wants to destroy it.

RE: Player Base Guide - mathiaskade - 02-05-2015

Im confused on the base maintenance. Will I constantly be supplying my base with hull panels, reinforced alloy, and robotic stuff as long as I have the base? Or is it a one time thing? And question two. Is it better to have a lot of one of those types of commodities or better to split evenly between all three??

RE: Player Base Guide - mathiaskade - 02-05-2015

ALso another question. Its the same question as above "Where do I register my base?" But the links above don't tell you HOW to register it. They just say that it NEEDS to be registered. Where is the actually link to those to register?

Your Base will consume 8640 units of Reinforced Alloy (RA) per 24 hours. If the RA is not available then it will use Robotic Hardware (RH) and if that is also then not available then it will use Hull Segments (HS).

So, as long as you supply RA, to your Base, then this will be the only Commodity, other than Food, Oxygen and Water (FOW), that it will require.

IF your Base is attacked then every 20 seconds it checks its damage status. It will first use 2 RA to repair 60,000 HPs of damage. If the Base is still damaged then it will use 2 RH to repair 60,000 HPs of damage and if the Base is still damaged then it will use 2 HS to repair the next 60,000 HPs of damage.

The Level of your Base depends how many times it goes through this cycle every 20 seconds ie.

Level 1 Base with all 3 Repair Materials can repair 180,000 HPs of damage per 20 seconds whereas:
Level 4 Base with all 3 Repair Materials can repair 720,000 HPs of damage per 20 seconds.

So to answer your questions:
1) Other than FOW, RA is the only Commodity that you will need to constantly supply to your Base (8640 per day)
2) Better to have a mix of the 3, but more of the RA as this is the first commodity consumed.

RE: Player Base Guide - Ponge - 02-05-2015

Registering a base is a full role play thing, you have to send a request letter to the faction/government that controls the space where you want to build a base. The House Laws govern base registration criteria, and can be read here:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=108128
You just have to send a properly titled message on the communications channel:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=59
Don't forget that channel is for role play messages, so you will have to construct your message according to that.

And I got nonja'd on base maintenance.

Liberty appears to not have a dedicated Thread for Base Registration so therefore you send your request to the Liberty Government.

Hopefully this answers your question.

Yes thank you for all your alls help. I am trying to build a base in liberty so guess I will try to contact them in the communication channel. And Thank you for clearing up the RA question to.

Ok another random question that I didn't find an answer to in this guide. Can you set an item to be bought for one price and sold for another? for example. Ore will sell for 3500 and will buy it for 2500?

No, you can't. That's why some people make 2 bases, one for imports and one for exports.

Snoopy, can you add somewhere in the OP that one does not need an emtpy module slot to upgrade from Core 4 to Core 5? I asked Garret and he told me Admins they just do their magic, even if the Core 4 is already at it's maximum build capacity.

No, you can't. Also you can find here at the Q&A Section

Q: How to set 2 different prices for ore on base? Lower for selling there (for miners), and higher for buying, for traders?

A: This is not possible. Most players overcome this issue by setting the price to X (the price the miners sell their ore to the base for) and set the base to only buy the good; then let the miners fill the base up. Then they set the price to Y (price they want to sell the ore to traders for) and make it to where it only sells the good.

Good luck!
