After a few lessons, some superfluous use of social wit and charm, and some heroic security dodging: we managed to get the following inform*kzzt*>>>>Anomaly: Sunspot activity detected. Signal mismatch >>>>Beginning decryption...Partial relay completion... Alien matter sample material: inert.
*krtt*"...in short, a great number of test were performed with no result. Later testing applied through a series of complex organic relays (courtesy of doctor Tsungs team) We eventually introduced a voltaic charge of 1.21 giga-watts to the specimen. Recovered from combat encounter ' omicron kappa. 45,16,9. @2802 642 A.S. Pilot: Mark Fitzgerald. Recording employee: Professor Czepenka. We expected the sample to be destroyed. It reacted to the massive amount of electrical power, absorbing and converting energy at a rate exceeding 1100A. unfortunately this process culminated in a discharge of the collected energy which sublimated the three man team present within twenty feet of the experiment, and the lab built around it. This caused a terrible chain reaction which forced all remote observers to gain clearance of two systems, or approximately several million miles. Of course all was not lost: as stated, we expected a violent episode , for which we were well prepared. Remote sensors calibrated specifically to the task, numbering some five-hundred thousand, fed back data to each of our co-ordination units. Allowing us, not only a real time recording of events: but one so complete in detail that we can examine the entire process in much greater detail, down to a single picosecond.. *record-d-d..rok..* Early works from the late Professor Dogbert in 528 A.S theorised that the alien material was in fact one giant neural network, which we now know to be an understandable mistake, and that the incomplete conduits detailed in his models (figure 2) indicate a complicated form of nervous system which transfers massive amounts of energy and is involved in its conversion as detailed in the Czepenka paper (642). Dogberts rudimentary methods not only led us upon worthy paths of investigation, but led us to conclusions that still stand to date. Dogberts explanation of the Cytoskeleton and detailing of the Pseudocoelom, and rear nuclear reaction containment and 'osculum' are still taught in todays xenobiology classes. ![]() Czepnenka paper, Excerpt 21: '...from tail to tip, throughout the creatures body. We analysed the network extensively without breaching the subjects surface, whilst in its dormant state measurements revealed a charge approximately ten times of that found transferred through a human nervous system.' Czepenka lead us on to further inquiries and a dedicated group for study of the alien nervous system. Of course they found that Dogberts mistake was in the nature of the discovery of complex encoded information amidst the nervous impulses transmitted along the creatures C.N.S. The division also went on to outline the 'brain' cluster of nervous and circulatory vessels surrounding the, more centralised, cardiac organ.
Another of Dogberts lines of inquiry concerned what he dubbed an 'energy-field' surrounding the carapace, which we now call the 'veil': and is in fact a suspended membrane of specialised micro-organisms which generate a field in conjunction with the sub-dermal layers. Raffard later went on todisprove Dogberts theories, and his disdain for Dogberts work is no secret... *...cord *ncomp...** Czepenka also went on to investigate the transfer of gaseous elements ' the epithelial tissues of the creature are observed to exhibit both semi-permeable and impermeable properties depending on its current function. When performing a complex redox process upon the oxides found in the surrounding space debris, the surface appears Semi-permeable: as we can observe reactions and transfer of resultant elements into the body. Below the epithelial layer lay a phospholipid bilayer, separating and protecting the internal workings...' ***

'...what passes for musculature was riddled with a network of nano-fibrous nerves. After incising the carapace (which was only possible after severe chemical treatment and an industrial neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser) we discover that tissue lying nearest the surface is arranged in a configuration similar to smooth muscle, whilst that concerned primarily with changes to the creatures shape, offensive functions and cavity control matches striated muscle. Composed of extremely dense carbon chains the muscles tensile strength and potential far exceeds that of a human, and is more comparable to industrial machines though it makes up less than thirty percent of the creatures total mass. Lining of these muscles surround the contractile organs found running the length of cardiac vessels, and assist bi-directional flow within said vessels, which are in turn, surrounded and suffused by nerve fibres. Given that the circulatory system and nervous systems are so tightly interwoven, any general references made from this point will refer to the circulatory/nervous system to explain aspects which affect both.***

We now know from following Czepenkas work that the carapace can allow absorption of oxides to the external reticulated membrane and the basement membrane where reactions occur to extract usable elements into the epithelial layer. Though his work was ground-breaking, it is possibly eclipsed by Professor Schweitzers work concerning the secondary organ, concerned with photonic & thermal energy collection...*rec... dis...*
...as discovered by Professor Eddison nearly two decades ago, and later expanded up by the works of Quinn and the Cambridge Research Institute. Since the discovery of this fluctuating energy pattern it has become much easier to identify subjects host to the parasite, as well as their space faring kin. Nomad parasites, 801 A.S.
'¦therefore it is essential to understand that this particular genus has evolved since Ballards publishing in 727 'Physiological study on alien parasitic infestation of a mammal: a new genus' . Excerpt 12. '...The parasite creature, though physically smaller than its larger counterparts, emits the same resonant frequencies and exhibits the same energy signature as the space faring class.'(Ballard 727, 'Physiological study on alien parasitic infestation of a mammal: a new genus', C.R.S Publishing.)***
Surprisingly Carbon dating is far more accurate and falls within a narrower band with such specimens, rather than the results of larger nomads varying wildly. Depending on time of infection, it is also possible to extract biological fluid data which has been absorbed from the host. We found that, generally, this species were far younger than the Larger nomads. This, coupled with Ballards findings, supports the frightening view of controlled adaptation and evolution within mere decades. *record interrupt...*
Bish, 805 A.S: Parasite anatomy...however one significant difference, other than size and behaviour, is the lack of the microbial layer (or 'veil') surrounding the subject. Through the Beckman project test (805) we can see that this alien breed has a relatively short lifespan without a host. Study of infested human: Beckman, R&D, 805 A.S.
'...and carbon bonding used in the construction of the cell walls. The subject had no chance of escape, and all proper quarantine procedures observed. Subject: Hans Oetker ' subject 8 phi-omega. The host had been infected with strain delta six of the Carlisle bacterium: for its more stable and less communicable properties, and since we knew this to be one of the few problems with a host that the parasite could not sufficiently repair. A live control group subject was placed in the cell with subject eight. Subject 8 began rapid deterioration after two hours. Parasite was observed to reject its damaged host and proceeded to infect the control group subject. The parasite proper was observed to carry many smaller, non-mamalian, blastocyst-type embryonic packages. Tendril like nerves trailed from the body, coloured and slick with fluids from the deceased host.
Entering the body orally, the parasite inserted a genetic package into the stomach of the control group subject, it is at this point that we consider a subject infected. This alien material travelled through the dorsal wall and on to the inter-organ space of the abdominal cavity, whereupon the nervous tendrils of the parasite spread and link to major metabolic sites such as the stomach, heart, and pancreas. We refer to this as the parasites initial stage of gestation: the secondary stage occurs when the parasite makes connections with the lymphatic, nervous and cardio-pulmonary systems of the body; extending nerves around vessels in a vaguely similar fashion to the construction of its kin. The nucleus contained the same tightly packed, signature, purine-base heavy double-stranded D.N.A, as well as the same basic configuration of 'brain' cluster surrounding the cardiac-organ.
The carapace of this genus is notably softer than the larger of the species, and is covered with dynamic molecules capable of mimicking human protein functions, suppressing immune response in the host, and invasion of the hosts systems. This carapace is significantly different than the larger nomads: we observed no similar reactions with oxides at the surface, and believe these processes to be replaced with specific secretions, reactions and adaptation to the environment of a host body.Through on-site exploratory surgeries the effects and use of novel nucleic acid analogues within the nucleus was found to expand the potential for genetic coding to beyond known G'C'A'T configurations. It should be noted that this evidence supports the controversial view of the aliens ability to change physically. Previously believed to be redundant proteins were revealed to be related to polymerase functions concerned with encoding, and R.N.A reproduction. Once we cut through this epithelial layer, we find the denser mesodermal layer, filled with not only the fluid matrixes found in larger specimens, but what appear to be vestiges of the solar conduction organ amidst protein components. These components process organic carbon and enable further controlled interaction with the hosts biochemistry, the majority of the creatures metabolic activity is contained within this layer. Obviously the lack of photosynthesis in this class of nomad is another reason why it should be classified as a separate genus of the species."
